Niederaussem Power Station

Niederaußem is a section of the town of Bergheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, located 18 km west of Cologne. It has 6000 inhabitants and is well known for its power station.

Bergheim (German pronunciation: [ˈbɛʁkˌhaɪ̯m] ; Ripuarian: Berchem) is a German town, 22 km west of Cologne and the capital of the Rhein-Erft-Kreis (district). The town's Niederaußem district is one of the most important suppliers for energy from lignites in Europe.

Neurath Power Station is a lignite-fired power station at Neurath in Grevenbroich, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located to the south of Grevenbroich, and it borders the municipalities of Rommerskirchen and Bedburg. The power station consists of seven units and it is owned by RWE. It was named as the second biggest single polluter for carbon dioxide emissions in the European Union in 2019 by the EU's Transport and Environment Group, as well as the 102nd biggest polluting asset globally by Climate TRACE.

Verlag Dohr is a publishing house for music in Bergheim, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was founded in 1990 by Christoph Dohr in Bickendorf, which moved to Rheinkassel in 1992 and to Haus Eller in Bergheim in 2010. It publishes a quarterly magazine of music, fermate, sheet music mostly of composers of the 20th century but also works of the 19th and 18th century in critical editions, books and recordings. The publisher provides around 100 new editions per year. It received prizes such as the Deutscher Musikeditionspreis for the edition of Robert Schumann's letters. Dohr runs in Haus Eller also a museum of historic keyboard instruments. They are presented to the public in concerts and often used for recordings. The museum also contains a library focused on topics such as pianos, keyboard instruments and pianists.

Horrem station is a station in the Kerpen district of Horrem in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is a railway junction of the Cologne–Aachen high-speed railway and the Erft Railway (Horrem–Bedburg, connecting with Neuss). The triangular station of Horrem is served by regional services and by S-Bahn trains of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn. Long-distance trains run through on the high-speed line without stopping. It is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 3 station.

The Strategic Railway Embankment (German: Strategischer Bahndamm) is a railway line between the Ruhr and the south-western border of Germany, which was never finished. This name is derived from the section of this line that runs over a railway embankment between Neuss and Rommerskirchen, which was built as part of the northern section of the line.

Sindorf station is a train station in the town of Sindorf in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia on the Cologne–Aachen high-speed railway. The station is in the south-east of the Kerpen district of Sindorf and has a side platform on the south side of the S-Bahn line. This is bounded to the south by a noise barrier and the entrances and exits are at the ends of the platform.
