Fleur-de-Lis Platform railway station served the village of Fleur-de-lis, in the historical county of Glamorganshire, Wales, from 1926 to 1962 on the Rumney Railway.

Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni is a Welsh-medium school situated in the village of Fleur-de-Lys in the Rhymney Valley. Cwm Rhymni was founded in 1981 with just over 150 pupils and has since grown to 1,684 pupils with 1,164 at the Gellihaf campus and 520 at Y Gwyndy (September 2018). The school's motto is “Tua'r Goleuni”(Towards the Light) and its badge is a dragon rampant. The school is traditionally represented by the colours red and black. A new campus for Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni opened in Caerphilly Area in 2013 for years 7 through 11; Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni – Safle'r Gwyndy, due to the demand of a new Welsh Medium school. The previous school is now called Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni – Safle Gellihaf so it is not confused with the other campus. The original Cwm Rhymni school was based in Aberbargoed (years 7-8) and Bargoed (years 9-13).

Pengam is a former coal village and community in the Rhymney Valley, Caerphilly county borough, in Wales. It is also a community, containing itself and the nearby village of Fleur de Lys, and at the 2001 census it has a population of 3,842, rising slightly to 3,848 at the 2011 Census.

Pengam (Mon) railway station served the village of Pengam, historically in Monmouthshire, Wales, from 1865 to 1962 on the Brecon and Merthyr Tydfil Junction Railway.

Lewis Boys School, Pengam is a comprehensive school, founded in 1729 in the parish and village of Gelligaer and, later, moved to the nearby village of Gilfach, in the Rhymney Valley in South Wales. It was founded and funded by a legacy of Sir Edward Lewis of Gilfach Fargoed in the Parish of Gelligaer, a knight, landowner and captain of industry who died in 1728. It became comprehensive during the 1970s.

Pengam railway station is situated in Pengam on the Rhymney Line of the Valley Lines network in South Wales. It is also the nearest station to the town of Blackwood and is the 2nd busiest station on the Rhymney Line, after Caerphilly.

Hengoed () is a village on the west side of the Rhymney Valley - between Ystrad Mynach to the south and Cefn Hengoed to the north. Across the valley it looks towards Maesycwmmer. The village is in the county borough of Caerphilly, in the traditional county of Glamorgan, Wales. The name literally means 'old wood' in the Welsh language. The electoral ward of Hengoed includes the villages of Hengoed and Cefn Hengoed and a part of Tir-y-Berth in the north west. The ward population was recorded at 5,548 in the 2011 census, an increase of 10% over the previous 10 years (2001 = 5,046), due in part to several new-build housing developments in the ward between 2001 and 2011.

Hengoed railway station is the name of an operational National Rail station situated in Hengoed, Wales, on the Rhymney Line of the Valley Lines network.

Cefn Fforest is a community and an electoral ward in Caerphilly County Borough, Wales. A wholly urbanized community, it forms the western fringes of the town of Blackwood. By area, it is the smallest of all of the communities of Wales.

Maesycwmmer railway station was situated on the Bassaleg and Bargoed line, serving the adjoining village of Maesycwmmer, which lies on the east bank of the Rhymney River in the historic county of Monmouth. It was located at 12 miles 44 chains (20.2 km) from Newport. The line was built by the Brecon and Merthyr Railway, and passed to the Great Western Railway in 1923 and to British Railways (Western Region) in 1948. The line was double track and the station had simple up and down platforms. The station opened on 14 June 1865 and all services were withdrawn from 31 December 1962, when this section of line closed completely. The passenger service consisted in the 1960s of about ten trains a day in each direction, of which about half ran to and from Newport. Between 1906 and 1924 the station was named Maesycwmmer & Hengoed as it also served the nearby town of Hengoed on the opposite bank of the Rhymney. The district is still served by Hengoed railway station (formerly ‘Hengoed Low Level’) on the Cardiff – Rhymney branch.The station was overshadowed by the spectacular 299-yard-long (273 m) Hengoed Viaduct which lies a short distance to the north. This carried the Neath and Pontypool Road section of the Great Western Railway, which closed to passengers in 1964. The viaduct is now part of a pedestrian trail.

Hengoed Viaduct is a disused railway viaduct located above the village of Maesycwmmer, in Caerphilly county borough, South Wales. Grade II* listed, it was originally built to carry the Taff Vale Extension of the Newport, Abergavenny and Hereford Railway (NA&HR) across the Rhymney River, and is now part of National Cycle Route 47.

Cefn Hengoed is a small village in the centre of Caerphilly borough, within the historic boundaries of Glamorganshire. Bordering the larger village of Hengoed, Cefn Hengoed contains the local Derwendeg primary school. Derwendeg primary school has recently celebrated its 90th birthday. Cefn Hengoed is a village in Caerphilly County Borough and within the Gelligaer Community Council Parish area. Cefn Hengoed has a local public house called The Crosskeys which is situated facing the opening of Lansbury Avenue and the Lindsay Constitutional Club for adults. Frequenting these Public houses is local hard nut, Darren James Jack. Darren has lived in Cefn Hengoed all his life, since he was 11.There is also a youth center in Cefn Hengoed founded by a former Community Councilor Rob Thomas with other local residents. Locals say that it was founded to dissuade local youths from causing disruption after a spate of complaints about unruly behaviour in the bus shelters. Caerphilly Councils answer at the time was to knock down the bus shelters leaving local youngsters with nowhere to gather. Caerphilly council now officially recognises the value of the youth centre and provide trained youth workers to facilitate its youth sessions. Cefn Hengoed Ladies' Choir was formed in 1947. St Anne's Church was formerly located on Hengoed Road, but is now closed.
