Radnor Lake State Natural Area

Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory was an astronomical observatory at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The instruments were used for teaching purposes only.

The Dyer Observatory, also known as the Arthur J. Dyer Observatory, is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Vanderbilt University. Built in 1953, it is located in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the only university facility not located on the main campus in Nashville. The observatory is named after Arthur J. Dyer, who paid for the observatory's 24-foot (7.3 m)-wide dome, and houses a 24-inch (610 mm) reflecting telescope named for astronomer Carl Seyfert. Today, the observatory primarily serves as a teaching tool; its mission is to interest the public in the fields of astronomy, science and engineering. The observatory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 6, 2009.

The 1980 U.S. Women's Open was the 35th U.S. Women's Open, held July 10–13 at Richland Country Club in Nashville, Tennessee. Amy Alcott won her only U.S. Women's Open, nine shots ahead of runner-up Hollis Stacy. She entered the final round with an eight-stroke lead; it was the second of her five major titles. The field of 150 players included 49 amateurs, of which two made the 36-hole cut.On the weekend, temperatures reached 100 °F (38 °C).

Otter Creek is a 6.5-mile-long (10.5 km) creek in Davidson County, Tennessee. It is the effluent of Radnor Lake, and flows through Radnor Lake State Natural Area. It is a tributary of the Little Harpeth River, and via the Little Harpeth, Harpeth, Cumberland, and Ohio rivers, it is part of the Mississippi River watershed. The creek gets its name because it once contained river otters.

Overton Lane is a historic lane in Oak Hill, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built in the 1840s to separate the plantations owned by John Overton and John M. Lea. The lane was a strategic location in the Battle of Nashville, during the American Civil War. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since July 17, 1980.

The Battle of Nashville was a two-day battle in the Franklin-Nashville Campaign that represented the end of large-scale fighting west of the coastal states in the American Civil War. It was fought at Nashville, Tennessee, on December 15–16, 1864, between the Confederate Army of Tennessee under Lieutenant General John Bell Hood and the Union Army of the Cumberland (Dept. of the Cumberland) (AoC) under Major General George H. Thomas. In one of the largest victories achieved by the Union Army during the war, Thomas attacked and routed Hood's army, largely destroying it as an effective fighting force.

The Dr. Cobb Pilcher House is a historic house in Forest Hills, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built in 1936 for Dr. Cobb Pilcher, a neurologist at Vanderbilt University. It was designed in the International Style by Warfield and Keeble. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 27, 2003.

The McCrory-Mayfield House is a historic log house in Brentwood, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built in 1798 by Thomas McCrory, a settler and veteran of the American Revolution. Thomas came to Tennessee to claim some of the land granted by the United States government to his late father, Captain Thomas McCrory who died from wounds inflicted at the Battle of Germantown in 1777.The land was later purchased by William B. Carpenter in 1837. After the American Civil War, it was inherited by his daughter Mary and her husband, George Mayfield, in 1869. It stayed in the Mayfield family until 1939. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 27, 1982.

The Battle of Brentwood was a battle during the American Civil War on March 25, 1863, in Williamson County, Tennessee at Brentwood, Tennessee.

Oak Hill is a city in Davidson County, Tennessee. The population was 4,529 at the 2010 census. The Tennessee Governor's Mansion is located in the city. Although the city is administered under the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, it retains its own municipal government.

The Guildford Dudley Sr. and Anne Dallas House is a historic house in Forest Hills, Tennessee, United States.

The William Martin House is a building and property in Brentwood, Tennessee, United States, that dates from c. 1910 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1988. It has also been known as Boxwood Hall. It is a two-story house that was built c. 1850 but was extensively remodeled into Colonial Revival style in c. 1910. The NRHP listing was for two contributing buildings on an area of 1.7 acres (0.69 ha). The NRHP eligibility of the property was covered in a 1988 study of Williamson County historical resources.
