The 1980 U.S. Women's Open was the 35th U.S. Women's Open, held July 10–13 at Richland Country Club in Nashville, Tennessee. Amy Alcott won her only U.S. Women's Open, nine shots ahead of runner-up Hollis Stacy. She entered the final round with an eight-stroke lead; it was the second of her five major titles. The field of 150 players included 49 amateurs, of which two made the 36-hole cut.On the weekend, temperatures reached 100 °F (38 °C).

The Deerwood Arboretum and Nature Area (27 acres) is a city park and arboretum located along the Little Harpeth River, Deerwood Lane, Brentwood, Tennessee. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum was the site of the city's sewage treatment plant until the early 1980s, and converted to a park in 1992. It now includes over 60 tree species, with walking trails, outdoor classroom, restrooms, observation deck, and a small amphitheater.

WRLT (branded "Lightning 100") is an adult album alternative-formatted FM radio station in the Nashville, Tennessee market and located at 100.1 MHz. The station is licensed to Franklin, Tennessee, some 20 miles south of Nashville. The station is owned by Tuned-in Broadcasting. Previously failing in modern country and rock formats, the current format was adopted in the mid-1980s under the leadership of Ned Horton. Since then, the format has been "tweaked" on numerous occasions. WRLT's playlist is an eclectic mix of artists, up-and-coming singer/songwriters, and other current music. Artists as varied as My Morning Jacket, Led Zeppelin, Beck and Brett Dennen can be heard on the station. Lightning 100 was the first station in the Music City to play artists such as Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Dave Matthews Band. The station, highly unusual for contemporary-era commercial stations in the U.S., has demonstrated a considerable dedication to live programming. Programming highlights include the "Lightning Request" lunch hour, the615 each Monday evening (featuring unsigned bands that call Nashville home), the Indie Underground Hour on Thursday nights, and Lightning 100 Unplugged on Sunday mornings. In 2006, WRLT launched the syndicated talk radio show Music Business Radio, hosted by music marketing expert, consultant, and author David Hooper, and features interviews with various industry professionals giving the listener their insight and expertise into the recording business, particularly Nashville's segment of it. WRLT is also home to community outreach and special events through Team Lightning (rebranded from Team Green Adventures in late 2017), an outdoor adventure group with a mission to increase awareness about the environment, health, and community through adventure, and Live on the Green, a free music festival on the plaza at the Metro Nashville Courthouse during September, highlighting local artists and businesses.

WPLN-FM (90.3 MHz), is a non-commercial public radio station in Nashville, Tennessee. It airs a news, talk and information radio format and is owned by Nashville Public Radio along with sister station WNXP. The station's studios and offices are located on Mainstream Drive north of downtown Nashville, which are considered among the finest radio production facilities in the U.S. WPLN-FM is simulcast on two low-powered repeaters on the fringes of the Middle Tennessee area: WHRS (91.7 FM) in Cookeville and WTML (91.5 FM) in Tullahoma. WPLN-FM has an effective radiated power of 80,000 watts. The transmitter is on Johnson Chapel Road West in Brentwood, Tennessee, near the Little Harpeth River. The signal reaches most of Middle Tennessee and some counties in southern Kentucky. WPLN-FM shares the tower with other Nashville FM stations: WRLT, WKDF and WNRQ. It has broadcast from that site since 1984.

WNRQ (105.9 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station in Nashville, heard in northern middle Tennessee and southern central Kentucky. It airs a classic rock format. It is owned by iHeartMedia, with studios in Nashville's Music Row district. WNRQ is a Class C FM station. It has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, the maximum for most FM stations. The transmitter site is on Johnson Chapel Hill Road West in Brentwood, Tennessee, a Nashville suburb. WNRQ broadcasts using HD Radio technology. Its HD2 digital subchannel carries the Black Information Network (BIN), an all news service directed at the African-American community. It feeds FM translator W248BQ at 97.5 MHz.

Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory was an astronomical observatory at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. The instruments were used for teaching purposes only.

The Dyer Observatory, also known as the Arthur J. Dyer Observatory, is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Vanderbilt University. Built in 1953, it is located in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the only university facility not located on the main campus in Nashville. The observatory is named after Arthur J. Dyer, who paid for the observatory's 24-foot (7.3 m)-wide dome, and houses a 24-inch (610 mm) reflecting telescope named for astronomer Carl Seyfert. Today, the observatory primarily serves as a teaching tool; its mission is to interest the public in the fields of astronomy, science and engineering. The observatory was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 6, 2009.

The William Martin House is a building and property in Brentwood, Tennessee, United States, that dates from c. 1910 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1988. It has also been known as Boxwood Hall. It is a two-story house that was built c. 1850 but was extensively remodeled into Colonial Revival style in c. 1910. The NRHP listing was for two contributing buildings on an area of 1.7 acres (0.69 ha). The NRHP eligibility of the property was covered in a 1988 study of Williamson County historical resources.

Radnor Lake State Natural Area, also known as Radnor Lake State Park, is a popular state natural area and state park in Oak Hill, Tennessee within Nashville. The 1,368 acres (5.54 km2) nature preserve lies just outside Nashville. Five miles of unpaved trails wander through the woods surrounding the lake. Otter Creek Road runs through the middle of the park and is now closed to traffic. Visitors to Radnor Lake enjoy wildlife native to Middle Tennessee, including river otters, beavers, mink, muskrat, bobcat, coyote and the white-tailed deer. There is a visitor's center open Thursday through Monday.

Brentwood High School is a public high school located in Brentwood, Tennessee, United States. The school serves the north central section of Williamson County for students in grades 9–12. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. In their 2022 rankings, U.S. News & World Report ranked Brentwood High School fifth in Tennessee and #301 in the country.

The Richard E. Martin House, also known as Castlewood, is a historic mansion in Forest Hills, Tennessee. It was built in 1931 for Richard E. Martin.It was designed in the Tudor Revival architectural style by architects Warfield & Keeble. Keeble himself lived in the Forest Hills neighborhood. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since October 27, 2003.
