The Atlantis is a music venue in Washington, D.C., that opened on May 30, 2023. The venue was designed to evoke the original 9:30 Club at 930 F Street NW, which itself was first called The Atlantis. The new venue opened exactly 43 years after the original 9:30 Club. The venue, adjacent to the current 9:30 Club on V Street NW, has a capacity of only 450 people. The Foo Fighters were the first band to perform at the venue after its grand opening, two years after Dave Grohl first revealed that the venue was being built. However, D.C. power pop/punk band, Venray was the first to perform during the soft opening on Sunday May 28, opening for the local go-go band, Trouble Funk. The club plans 44 performances during its first season, running from May through September 2023. Tickets were initially released through a lottery system, drawing over half a million requests for the 20,000 tickets.

The 9:30 Club (originally named Nightclub 9:30, also known simply as the 9:30) is a nightclub and concert venue in Washington, D.C. In 2018, the 9:30 Club was named one of the 10 best live music venues in America by Rolling Stone, and in 2019 the club was named "Venue of the Decade" by VenuesNow.The club was originally housed in the ground floor rear room of the Atlantic Building at 930 F Street NW, in the city's downtown area, where it opened on May 31, 1980, with a legal standing capacity of 199. In 1996, the club was moved to a roomier space: its current location at 815 V Street NW, where it anchors the eastern end of the U Street Corridor. The 9:30 Club's name was derived from its original street address, which was also the reason to set the venue's original opening time of 9:30 p.m. Early advertising on D.C.'s WHFS radio featured the slogan "9:30 – a Place and Time!" The club has a distinctive wheeled stage mounted on rails, which can be moved back and forth as needed. This way, the place can feel as packed with 500 people in attendance as it would during a sold-out, full capacity show.Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump once said of the 9:30, "it's got so much character, you wonder if the locals know how lucky they are."

Florida Avenue is a major street in Washington, D.C. It was originally named Boundary Street, because it formed the northern boundary of the Federal City under the 1791 L'Enfant Plan. With the growth of the city beyond its original borders, Boundary Street was renamed Florida Avenue in 1890.

DC9 Nightclub is a nightclub and restaurant in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is known for its indie music scene, dance parties, and karaoke. DC9 has a capacity of 250 people and is a venue for live music and DJs.

The Moorland–Spingarn Research Center (MSRC) in Washington, D.C., is located on the campus of Howard University on the first and ground floors of Founders Library. The MSRC is recognized as one of the world's largest and most comprehensive repositories for the documentation of the history and culture of people of African descent in Africa, the Americas, and other parts of the world. As one of Howard University's major research facilities, the MSRC collects, preserves, organizes and makes available for research a wide range of resources chronicling the Black experience. Thus, it maintains a tradition of service which dates to the formative years of Howard University, when materials related to Africa and African Americans were first acquired.

The Southern Aid Society Building–Dunbar Theater is an historic structure located in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The building was designed by architect Isaiah T. Hatton. Reginald W. Geare designed the theater portion of the building. It was completed in 1921. It has been listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites since 1984 and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. It is a contributing property in the Greater U Street Historic District.

The Howard Theatre is a historic theater, located at 620 T Street, Northwest, Washington, D.C. Opened in 1910, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.In its heyday, the theater was known for catering to an African-American clientele, and had played host to many of the great Black musical artists of the early and mid-twentieth century. The Howard Theatre was billed as the "Theater of the People", and supported two theatrical organizations, the Lafayette Players and the Howard University Players. In September 2010 extensive renovations were started to restore the theater to its former glory. The theater reopened on April 9, 2012 to headline acts including Wanda Sykes, Blue Öyster Cult, and Chaka Khan, all of whom appeared in the first month after its reopening.

First African New Church (also known as People's Seventh Day Adventist Church and People's Seventh Day Baptist Independent Church) is a historic church, located at 2105-07 10th St., Northwest, Washington, D.C., in the Cardozo-Shaw neighborhood.

Florida Avenue Baptist Church is located at 623 Florida Avenue N.W., Washington, DC 20001 in the neighborhood of LeDroit Park near Howard University, and adjacent to the historic Howard Theatre. The Reverend Dr. Earl D. Trent, Jr. currently serves as the church's Senior Pastor.

Boundary Field, also known as American League Park II and National Park, is a former baseball ground in Washington, D.C. located on the site currently occupied by Howard University Hospital; bounded approximately by Georgia Avenue, 5th Street, W Street and Florida Avenue, NW. It was just outside what was then the city limit of Washington, whose northern boundary was Boundary Street which was renamed Florida Avenue in 1890.

Griffith Stadium stood in Washington, D.C., from 1911 to 1965, between Georgia Avenue and 5th Street (left field), and between W Street and Florida Avenue NW. The site was once home to a wooden baseball park. Built in 1891, it was called Boundary Field, or National Park after the team that played there: the Washington Senators/Nationals. It was destroyed by a fire in 1911. It was replaced by a steel and concrete structure, at first called National Park and then American League Park; it was renamed for Washington Senators owner Clark Griffith in 1923. The stadium was home to the American League Senators from 1911 through 1960, and to an expansion team of the same name for their first season in 1961. The venue hosted the All-Star Game in 1937 and 1956 and World Series games in 1924, 1925, and 1933. It served as home for the Negro league Homestead Grays during the 1940s, when it hosted the 1943 and 1944 Negro World Series. It was home to the Washington Redskins of the National Football League for 24 seasons, from the time they transferred from Boston in 1937 through the 1960 season. The ballpark was demolished in 1965; the site is now occupied by Howard University Hospital.

The Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM) is an academic division of Howard University that grants the Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Ph.D., M.S., and the M.PH. HUCM is located at the Howard University Health Sciences Center in Washington, D.C., and it was founded in 1868 in response to the growing population of the city. With more than 4,000 living alumni, the college has produced a sizeable share of the African-American physicians practicing in the United States. The mission of the college includes improving health care through training programs and initiatives, discovering knowledge through research, and supporting the education and training of postgraduate physicians, other healthcare providers, and graduate students in biomedical sciences. Many of the college students gain professional experience at Howard University Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for the school.
