The Richard Dickerson lynching happened in Springfield, Ohio on 7 March 1904. Dickerson aka Richard Dollon was an African American described as an "itinerant Kentuckian" who was being held for the fatal shooting of white Police Sergeant Charles B. Collis. The local authorities were unable to protect Dickerson from a large mob of angry white people who broke into the jail and seized and lynched him. The next night there were riots and attacks on black-owned businesses.

The Arcade Hotel was a registered historic building in Springfield, Ohio, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. Since that time, the historic structure has been demolished, and a Courtyard by Marriott erected in its place.

The Clark County Heritage Center is a Romanesque architecture-style building in central Springfield, Ohio, United States. Originally built for the city's offices in 1890, it is now the location of the Clark County Historical Society (founded in 1897), which includes a museum, research library and archives. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Lagonda Club Building is a historic clubhouse in downtown Springfield, Ohio, United States. Designed by Frank Mills Andrews, a leading period architect who was responsible for the construction of the Kentucky State Capitol, the clubhouse is a three-story structure with a large basement. Various materials are present on different parts of the exterior — while the foundation and first story are constructed of dressed limestone, the second through fourth floors are built of brick; their only stone elements are stone trim around some of the windows.Completed in 1895, the Lagonda Club is an early example of Beaux-Arts architecture. This style was favored by Andrews, whose work appears to have been influenced by Louis Sullivan's preferred style. After the Lagonda Club ceased to use the building, it became the headquarters of the local chamber of commerce. Today, the property is again owned by the club (now known as "Club Lagonda"), which seeks to rent most of its space to businesses. Because of its historically significant architecture and its place in Ohio's history, the Lagonda Club Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975; at the same intersection is located another landmark, the former Warder Public Library.

The Tecumseh Building, also known as the Francis J. Drolla Building, is a historic building in downtown Springfield, Ohio, United States. Located at 34 West High Street, it was designed by J.A. Poss and W.E. Russ and is described as being an example of "Early Commercial" architecture. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000 for its architectural significance.

The Shawnee Hotel, now called Shawnee Place, is a historic building in Springfield, Ohio. It is located on Main and Limestone Streets and at eight stories was the tallest building in Springfield when it was built in 1916–1917. It included such innovations as in-room plumbing, meeting rooms, and banquet facilities.The hotel was in operation through the 1960s when converted to a residential hotel. It later was vacant until 1985, when it was converted to senior housing. The building was renovated again in 2009, and in 2012 became senior living apartments managed by Episcopal Retirement Homes.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 5, 1985.

Warder Public Library is a historically significant building in Springfield, Ohio, United States. A robust example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture, it was a gift to the city from industrialist Benjamin H. Warder, and served as the main branch of the Clark County Public Library from 1890 to 1989. It now houses the Clark County (Warder) Literacy Center.

Springfield Big Four Depot was a Springfield, Ohio passenger train station of the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis Railway, commonly referred to as the 'Big Four Railroad.' Construction on the station began on November 22, 1909 and it opened for service in 1911, The brick structure was located at 202 Washington Street and Spring Street, east of the Big Four's previous station on the south side of Washington Street.The New York Central Railroad in 1906 had acquired the Big Four. However, the Big Four operated as a separate entity until 1930 when the Big Four was fully absorbed into New York Central operations. Many politicians, such as Richard Nixon in his 1968 presidential campaign, used the station as a place for campaign stops.

The Masonic Temple is a historic structure in Springfield, Ohio, United States. Located along High Street in downtown Springfield, the temple was designed by Howard Dwight Smith and the firm of Miller & Reeves. Local Freemasons have met at the temple since construction was finished in 1927.The temple was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. In nominating the temple for inclusion on the Register, the Ohio Historical Society highlighted its significance as the home of the oldest fraternal organization in Springfield.

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church is a historic Lutheran church in downtown Springfield, Ohio, United States. Founded as a German-speaking parish in Springfield's early days, it grew rapidly during its first few decades, and its present large church building was constructed in the 1890s under the direction of one of Springfield's leading architects. The congregation remains in the landmark church building, which has been named a historic site.
