Jahangirnagar University (abbreviated as JU) is a public research university located in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1970 by the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance of the Pakistani Government, which was amended after the independence of Bangladesh to form Jahangirnagar University. Jahangirnagar University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in various disciplines, including Arts, humanities, social science, natural science, business studies, and engineering. The university has produced many alumnus over the years.The university has several research institutes, including the Institute of Business administration, the Institute of Information technology, and the Institute of Environmental science. It also has a number of research centers, such as the Center for Advanced Research in Humanities, the Center for Advanced Research in Biological Sciences, and the Center for Advanced Research in Social Sciences.It is the fourth oldest generalized public university in Bangladesh. Also, it has fourth largest university campus in Bangladesh.

Jahangirnagar University Swimming Pool built in 1978, is a swimming sports competition hosting and training swimming pool. It is located in the South of the University Gymnasium. Unlike most sports swimming pools in Bangladesh, it is not affiliated to the National Sports Council. The overall maintenance of the pool is under the management of the physical education department of the university.

Selim Al Deen Muktamanch (commonly known as Muktamanch) is an ancient Greek styled Theatre in Jahangirnagar University. The open air stage is located on the slope of a mound to the east of the university's Student-Teacher Center, and to the south of the cafeteria. It is the first open air theatre in South Asia built in the style of Ancient Greece amphitheatre. Initially known as the cultural shrine of the university, it was long referred to simply as 'Mukt Manch', after which it was officially named posthumously in honor of its master planner, Salim Al Deen. Muktamanch made its debut in 1980 by staging the play Shakuntala.

The Waliullah and Al Muqaddas abduction is an incident in the history of enforced disappearances in Bangladesh that took place in 2012. In this case of disappearance, the government faced criticism. Amnesty International expressed concern over the incident and called for urgent action. The working group of the United Nations Human Rights Council listed these two individuals as numbers 9 and 10 among 76 persons who disappeared in Bangladesh. Additionally, the World Organization Against Torture, Human Rights Watch, and the International Federation for Human Rights criticized the disappearance and included it in their respective lists. Both of them were active members of the Islami Chhatra Shibir of the Islamic University, Kushtia branch. After the disappearance of these two members, Chhatra Shibir members held protests and demonstrations across Bangladesh. From 2012 to 2024, Chhatra Shibir members have been demanding their release from disappearance.

The National Martyrs' Memorial (Bengali: জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ Jatiyo Sriti Soudho) is the national monument of Bangladesh, built to honour and remember those who died during the War of Liberation and Genocide in 1971, which resulted in Bangladesh's independence and sovereignty . The monument is located in Savar, about 35 km north-west of the capital city, Dhaka. It was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain and built by Concord Group.

Savar (Bengali: সাভার) is an Upazila of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh and is located at a distance of about 24 kilometers (15 mi) to the northwest of Dhaka city. Savar is mostly famous for the National Martyrs' Memorial, the national monument for the martyrs of the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (Bengali: ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট অফ টেক্সটাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড রিসার্চ) is also known as NITER. Located in Savar, Dhaka District, it is one of the largest undergraduate textile engineering campus in Bangladesh. It offers the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in textile engineering, industrial and production engineering, fashion design and apparel engineering, computer science engineering and electrical and electronic engineering in co-ordination with the University of Dhaka. Furthermore it starts M.Sc. in Textile Engineering course under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and MBA in Textile & Apparel Value Chain under the faculty of Business Studies of the University of Dhaka. The institute is a partnership between the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Govt. of Bangladesh. It is a public-private partnership education and research organization and a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka.

Savar Model College is a higher secondary educational institution located in Savar Upazila, near Dhaka, Bangladesh established in January 1996.
