Savar DOHS (Defence Officers Housing Society) is a residential neighborhood for defence service officers located near Savar Cantonment in Ashulia Thana, Savar Upazila. The DOHS is under the management of Savar Cantonment Board which is headed by Brigadier General Tofail Mostafa Sarwar. The total area of Savar DOHS is 72.47 acres with 445 plots. Brigadier General S M Farhad is the president of Savar DOHS.On 3 June 2012, Savar DOHS was founded on land previously used by Bangladesh Army for driving instructions.

Army Institute of Business Administration (Bengali: আর্মি ইনস্টিটিউট অব বিজনেস এডমিনিস্ট্রেশন), commonly known as Army IBA, is a business school run by the Bangladesh Army in affiliation with the Bangladesh University of Professionals in Savar Cantonment, Savar, Dhaka.

Savar Cantonment Public School and College (Bengali: সাভার ক্যান্টনমেন্ট পাবলিক স্কুল ও কলেজ) is situated at Savar Cantonment in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The institution is under the supervision of the director of Bangladesh Army Education Corps

National Institute of Textile Engineering and Research (Bengali: ন্যাশনাল ইনস্টিটিউট অফ টেক্সটাইল ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এন্ড রিসার্চ) is also known as NITER. Located in Savar, Dhaka District, it is one of the largest undergraduate textile engineering campus in Bangladesh. It offers the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree in textile engineering, industrial and production engineering, fashion design and apparel engineering, computer science engineering and electrical and electronic engineering in co-ordination with the University of Dhaka. Furthermore it starts M.Sc. in Textile Engineering course under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology and MBA in Textile & Apparel Value Chain under the faculty of Business Studies of the University of Dhaka. The institute is a partnership between the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Govt. of Bangladesh. It is a public-private partnership education and research organization and a constituent institute of the University of Dhaka.

Gono Bishwabidyalay (Bengali: গণ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় lit. 'People's University', abbreviated as GB) is a private university in Savar, Bangladesh which was established on 14 July 1994 as the People's University. It is now operating their academic and administrating activity on their permanent campus at Nolam, Savar, Dhaka. It was approved by University Grants Commission (UGC) on 1998. Md. Abul Hossain is the vice-chancellor of the university.

Morning Glory School & College (also referred as "MGSC") is a Co-educational school and college which is situated in Savar Cantonment, Savar, Dhaka District, Bangladesh. It is run by the 71 Mechanized Brigade of Bangladesh Army. The school has classes from Play Group to College. MGSC refers M for Marigold, G for Gladiolus, S for Silvia and C for Cosmos which indicates the sections assigned for every classes or standards. The institution is well known for its co-curriculum activities around the nation.

Jahangirnagar University (abbreviated as JU) is a public research university located in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1970 by the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance of the Pakistani Government, which was amended after the independence of Bangladesh to form Jahangirnagar University. Jahangirnagar University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in various disciplines, including Arts, humanities, social science, natural science, business studies, and engineering. The university has produced many alumnus over the years.The university has several research institutes, including the Institute of Business administration, the Institute of Information technology, and the Institute of Environmental science. It also has a number of research centers, such as the Center for Advanced Research in Humanities, the Center for Advanced Research in Biological Sciences, and the Center for Advanced Research in Social Sciences.It is the fourth oldest generalized public university in Bangladesh. Also, it has fourth largest university campus in Bangladesh.

The murder of Zubair Ahmed took place on 9 January 2012, at Jahangirnagar University in Savar, Bangladesh. Zubair Ahmed, a student of the university’s English Department, was attacked by members of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) during a conflict between rival factions of the organization. He later succumbed to his injuries. Thirteen BCL members were charged in connection with the murder. In 2015, five were sentenced to death, and six received life imprisonment. The university also took disciplinary action against several students involved.

Dhamsana (Bengali: ধামসোনা), also transliterated as Dhamsona, is a union parishad under Savar Upazila, Dhaka District, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh. The union covers an area of 32.77 square kilometres. Its parishad office is located in Bolibhadra Bazar area. In the year 2011, Dhamsana is the most populous union in Bangladesh, with a total population of 308,024.

Selim Al Deen Muktamanch (commonly known as Muktamanch) is an ancient Greek styled Theatre in Jahangirnagar University. The open air stage is located on the slope of a mound to the east of the university's Student-Teacher Center, and to the south of the cafeteria. It is the first open air theatre in South Asia built in the style of Ancient Greece amphitheatre. Initially known as the cultural shrine of the university, it was long referred to simply as 'Mukt Manch', after which it was officially named posthumously in honor of its master planner, Salim Al Deen. Muktamanch made its debut in 1980 by staging the play Shakuntala.

Dhamrai (Bengali: ধামরাই) is an upazila of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh.It is the biggest upazila in Dhaka district. Dhamrai is the birthplace of many notable persons.

Jahangirnagar University Swimming Pool built in 1978, is a swimming sports competition hosting and training swimming pool. It is located in the South of the University Gymnasium. Unlike most sports swimming pools in Bangladesh, it is not affiliated to the National Sports Council. The overall maintenance of the pool is under the management of the physical education department of the university.
