Massey University's Manawatū campus is surrounded by farmland, most of it used as training farms. The school of Agriculture and Environment has over 2,000 hectares (4,900 acres) in eight farms around the campus. These are known as the Massey Farms.

Massey University (Māori: Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa) is a university based in New Zealand, with significant campuses in Auckland, Palmerston North, and Wellington. Massey University has approximately 27,533 students, 18,358 of whom study either partly or fully by distance. Research is undertaken on all three campuses and people from over 130 countries study at the university.Massey is ranked among the top 250 universities in the world in Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS) 2023 ranking. Since 2023, Massey is among the top 100 universities in the Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS) sustainability 2023 ranking.Massey University is the only university in New Zealand offering degrees in aviation and veterinary medicine. Massey's veterinary school is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and is recognised in the United States, Australia, Canada, and Britain. Massey's agriculture programme is the highest-ranked in New Zealand, and 60th in the Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS) 2023 world university subject rankings. Massey's Bachelor of Aviation (Air Transport Pilot) is an internationally recognised and accredited qualification, is the first non-engineering degree to be recognised by the Royal Aeronautical Society (1998), and has ISO9001-2000 accreditation. The School of Built Environment offered multiple undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Construction and Built Environment ranking among the top 200 schools in Architecture and Built Environment in the Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS) 2023 world university subject rankings.

Massey University's Sir Geoffrey Peren Building, or Old Main Building as it was previously known, is located on the Manawatū campus of the university. At the time of its completion the building was known as the Agricultural Science Building, often shortened to Science Building. It was also referred to as the Main Building, and later as the Old Main Building. In 2010, it was renamed in honor of Sir Geoffrey Peren, the first principal of the university's forerunner, Massey Agricultural College.

Fitzherbert is a suburb of Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. The Massey University Manawatu Campus is west and northwest of Fitzherbert. The Food HQ was established north of the Massey University campus in 1971, and includes Plant & Food Research, Fonterra and Massey University research facilities.

The Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery centre is a New Zealand wildlife rehabilitation facility and visitor centre in Palmerston North. The centre treats injured wildlife and allows the public to watch birds and other animals recovering from treatment. The 2,900-square-metre (31,000 sq ft) complex is situated in the Victoria Esplanade and is owned by the Palmerston North City Council and co-managed with the Massey University School of Veterinary Science.The centre was built in 2018 to provide facilities for the Massey University Wildbase team to looks after birds and other wildlife recovering after treatment at Massey University's Wildbase hospital. It includes an education centre, rehabilitation aviaries and a walk-in aviary accessible for visitors since its opening to the public in February 2019. A team of volunteers provides educational information and public tours.Although Wildbase Recovery's main purpose is to treat injured wildlife, oversee their recovery and get them back into the natural environment rather than permanently house animals like a zoo, the centre has been popular with the public, having had more than 100,000 visitors in its first year.

Institute of the Pacific United is a Japanese and New Zealand tertiary educational institution based in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Another network of the institute is International Pacific University, which was established in 2007 in Okayama, Japan. Students of IPU New Zealand are from 24 different countries around the world. IPU New Zealand mainly offers tertiary education of business (including accounting, finance, marketing and management), international relations, linguistics, environmental studies and tourism. Despite the fact that the institution had been known as International Pacific College (IPC) for 25 years, its name was officially changed to Institute of the Pacific United (IPU New Zealand) on 26 September 2015.

Fitzherbert Park is a cricket ground in Palmerston North in New Zealand, a home ground of the Central Districts. In February 2000, New Zealand Women defeated England Women at the ground.The ground is situated on Fitzherbert Avenue in the parklands beside the Manawatū River. Known originally just as the Sportsground, it was renamed Fitzherbert Park in 1973.

Palmerston North Girls' High School is a secondary school for girls, located in the suburb of West End in the city of Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Hokowhitu Lagoon, also sometimes called Centennial Lagoon, is a natural oxbow lake in the city of Palmerston North, New Zealand. Hokowhitu was created from a meander of the Manawatu River. Many features surround the lagoon including a walkway, Caccia Birch House, and a former campus of a Massey University — the facilities of which are now used by the New Zealand Defence Force, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa and the Abbey Theatre Company. The lagoon also gives its name to the surrounding suburb, Hokowhitu. An artesian bore, which was completed in 2009, is drilled 94 metres (308 ft) into an underground aquifer which supplies the lagoon with 250,000 litres of water daily.

Caccia-Birch House (previously: Nannestad Homestead, Woodhey, Vice-Regal Residence, The Convalescent Home for Women of the Services) is a New Zealand colonial homestead and a Heritage New Zealand Category I Historic Place. It is located at 130 Te Awe Awe Street in the city of Palmerston North. Completed in 1892, it is named after William Caccia Birch and his wife Maude, who gifted the property to the government in 1941.The property, owned by Palmerston North City Council, is administered by the Caccia Birch Trust Board, and operates as a conference and events venue on a cost-recovery basis. The Coach House Museum includes photos of the property's previous owners.

Awatapu College is a state co-educational secondary school in Awapuni, Palmerston North, New Zealand.

West End is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Palmerston North. Features of the suburb include the Victoria Esplanade, Lido Swimming complex, Palmerston North Bowling Club, Palmerston North Holiday Park, Te Awe Awe Scout Group and Manawatu Lawn Tennis Centre. The local Fitzherbert Park is the city's main cricket and rugby league park. Other parks include Ongley Park, Manawaroa Park, West End Skate Park, State Highway 56 Reserve and Savage Reserve.
