Seaton Carew Lifeboat Station

Seaton Carew is a seaside resort in the Borough of Hartlepool in County Durham, England. It had an estimated population of 6,018. The area is named after a Norman French family called Carou who owned lands in the area and settled there, while 'Seaton' means farmstead or settlement by the sea.It separated from Hartlepool by the Durham Coast Line and some greenbelt land along the shore. The resort is on the North Sea coast and north of the River Tees estuary.

The Seaton Carew Wreck is a protected wrecksite lying in the intertidal zone at Seaton Carew. Prior to 1996 the wreck had been completely covered by the sand of the beach, but it was exposed in 1996 and 2002 and has been regularly exposed since 2004. The wreck is of a type of vessel known as a collier brig which would have been ubiquitous in the 18th and 19th centuries and is unusual on the North-East coast for the high degree of preservation. The wreck is a Protected Wreck managed by Historic England.

Seaton Carew is a railway station on the Durham Coast Line, which runs between Newcastle and Middlesbrough via Hartlepool. The station, situated 14 miles 77 chains (24.1 km) north-east of Middlesbrough, serves the seaside village of Seaton Carew, Hartlepool in County Durham, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

Seaton Dunes and Common (grid reference NZ535285) is a 312.1 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Hartlepool, County Durham, England notified in 1966. Part of it is a Local Nature Reserve.SSSIs are designated by Natural England, formally English Nature, which uses the 1974–1996 county system. This means there is no grouping of SSSIs by Hartlepool unitary authority, or County Durham which is the relevant ceremonial county . As such Seaton Dunes and Common is one of 18 SSSIs in the Cleveland area of search.

Hartlepool Submerged Forest (grid reference NZ520315) is a 19.7 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest in County Durham, England notified in 1988. The site is located to the south of Hartlepool Docks. SSSIs are designated by Natural England, formally English Nature, which uses the 1974–1996 county system. This means there is no grouping of SSSIs by Hartlepool unitary authority, or County Durham which is the relevant ceremonial county . As such Hartlepool Submerged Forest is one of 18 SSSIs in the Cleveland area of search.A forest stretching for several miles along the Hartlepool coast is thought to have originated around 7,000 years ago. It became submerged as sea levels rose over the next five millennia, but remains preserved to this day as a peaty soil, intermittently revealed on the foreshore by the ebb and flow of the tide. Animal bones, including those of deer and wild boar have been discovered at the site, as well as flint tools and other implements pointing to human activity in the area thousands of years ago. These have been analysed by scientists hoping to understand the environment that existed in the area before the forest was submerged. The site is also considered to be of significant importance in understanding sea level and environmental changes since the last ice age, and is identified as such in the Geological Conservation Review.

Hartlepool nuclear power station is a nuclear power station situated on the northern bank of the mouth of the River Tees, 2.5 mi (4 kilometres) south of Hartlepool in County Durham, North East England. The station has a net electrical output of 1,185 megawatts, which is 2% of Great Britain's peak electricity demand of 60 GW. Electricity is produced through the use of two advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGR). Hartlepool was only the third nuclear power station in the United Kingdom to use AGR technology. It was also the first nuclear power station to be built close to a major urban area. Originally planned in 1967, with construction starting in 1969, the station started generating electricity in 1983, and was completed in 1985, initially being operated by the Central Electricity Generating Board. With privatisation of the UK's electric supply industry in 1990, the station has been owned by Nuclear Electric and British Energy, but is now owned and operated by EDF Energy. On 18 October 2010 the British government announced that Hartlepool was one of the eight sites it considered suitable for future nuclear power stations.The power station will cease power generation in March 2026, prior to defueling and decommissioning.

Graythorp was a village and now a trading estate within the borough of Hartlepool and the ceremonial county of County Durham, England. It is located on the A178 Tees Road about 1 mile south of Hartlepool. The village was constructed by shipbuilder William Gray and Company to house workers at his Graythorp shipyard on Greatham Creek/Seaton Channel on the River Tees. Graythorp today is an industrial estate historically associated with a shipyard basin currently operated by Able UK as a marine recycling facility.

West Hartlepool Lifeboat Station consisted of two lifeboat stations, located near to the harbour town of Hartlepool, in County Durham. A lifeboat was first stationed to the south of the town in 1847 by the Hartlepool Dock and Railway Company at Stranton Beach, In 1854, a second lifeboat was placed near the Harbour Masters Office at Hartlepool Docks. Both stations were transferred to the management of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in 1869. The No.1 station was closed in 1894, leaving the No.2 station as the primary station, until it too was closed in 1906.

Royal Air Force Greatham or more simply RAF Greatham is a former Royal Air Force satellite station located in Greatham, County Durham, England. It was also known as RAF West Hartlepool and was located at Hartlepool and was little more than a grass airstrip, a satellite station of RAF Thornaby.

Seal Sands (grid reference NZ529260) is a 294.37 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in County Durham, England, notified in 1966. Situated in the mouth of the River Tees next to Greatham Creek and Seaton-on-Tees Channel, the site is accessible from the A178 road running between Seaton Carew and Port Clarence. SSSIs are designated by Natural England, formerly English Nature, which uses the 1974–1996 county system. This means there is no grouping of SSSIs by Stockton-on-Tees unitary authority, or County Durham which is the relevant ceremonial county. As such Seal Sands is one of 18 SSSIs in the Cleveland area of search.An area of reclaimed land is given over to chemical industries.
