Helme is a small village in the Kirklees district, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is near the town of Meltham and Blackmoorfoot Reservoir. Helme, constituted in 1858, was part of Almondbury parish in the 19th century.

Colne Valley is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Jason McCartney of the Conservative Party.

Colne Valley High School is a mixed secondary school in the village of Linthwaite, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is named thus because it exists in the Colne Valley, one of several valleys that converge at the town of Huddersfield. It has approximately 1900 pupils, with forms from A to J. The school has years 7 to 11, and four main buildings: A block, B block, C block and D (music) block as well as the sports hall. The school converted to academy status in September 2014 and is sponsored by The Mirfield Free Grammar.

Meltham railway station was the terminus of the Meltham branch line from Lockwood (Huddersfield) to Meltham, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England. Traffic partially started in 1868, but became regular in July 1869. The station, and line, were opened by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway (L&YR), later becoming part of the London Midland Scottish Railway. The station closed to passengers in 1949, though the branch remained open to freight until the 1960s. The railway station site is now the location of a supermarket.

Linthwaite (known as Linfit in the local community) is a village in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated 4 miles (6.4 km) west of Huddersfield, on the A62 in the Colne Valley. The village together with Blackmoorfoot had a population of 3,835 according to the 2001 census. The River Colne, Huddersfield Narrow Canal, the Huddersfield to Manchester railway line and A62 main road all pass near to the village. After they were constructed, textile mills were then built to produce cloth making use of the river. This led to the growth of the village. Linthwaite Hall on Linfit Fold was built around 1600. Currently, it is a busy village with five pubs, including the Sair Inn, a traditional pub, formerly known as the 'New Inn' and now one of the few 'own brew' pubs still in the country. It won the CAMRA National Pub of the Year Award in 1997. Linthwaite is believed to be given where the surname Dyson started in 1316.Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, at the top of Gilroyd Lane, is a wintering site for migrating wildfowl and wading birds.

Meltham Town Hall is a municipal building in Carlile Street in Meltham, West Yorkshire, England. The building, which formerly operated as the offices of Meltham Urban District Council, is now The Crossroads Centre, which operates the local foodbank.

Meltham is a town and civil parish within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Holme Valley, below Wessenden Moor, 5 miles (8 kilometres) south-west of Huddersfield on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It had a population of 8,089 at the 2001 census, which was estimated to have increased to 8,600 by 2005. The population assessed at the 2011 Census was 8,534. It has 12 elected council members who meet up around every 6 weeks.

The Colne Valley is a steep sided valley on the east flank of the Pennine Hills in the English county of West Yorkshire. It takes its name from the River Colne which rises above the town of Marsden and flows eastward towards Huddersfield. The name is used to describe that section of the valley between its source and Huddersfield at the point where the River Holme joins the Colne. The name can describe the whole valley of the Colne, including the section through Huddersfield its confluence with the River Calder at Cooper Bridge. Using the more common definition, the Colne Valley includes the towns and villages of Marsden, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Milnsbridge, Scapegoat Hill, Longwood and Golcar.

Healey House railway station was in use from 1869 to 1949 on the Meltham branch line.

Golcar railway station is a former railway station serving Golcar in West Yorkshire, England that was located between the existing Huddersfield and Slaithwaite stations. Along with several other stations on this stretch of line, it was closed to passengers on 7 October 1968 – a result of the Beeching Axe. No trace of the station remains, though there have been calls to rebuild the station here to serve the village and also neighbouring Milnsbridge.

Golcar (pronounced gɔʊkə(r)) is a village on a hillside crest above the Colne Valley in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England, 3 miles (5 km) west of Huddersfield, and just north of the River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. The 2021 population census lists the village as having 18,725 permanent residents. . The main transport access is from the A62 (Manchester Road), through Milnsbridge in the valley bottom or via Scapegoat Hill from the A640 (New Hey Road) at the top of the hill. The township of Golcar consists of Bolster Moor, Golcar, Wellhouse, Pole Moor and Scapegoat Hill.

The Colne Valley Museum is located within the Colne Valley at Golcar, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. The museum consists of four converted 19th century weavers' cottages. The museum provides an insight into what life was like for a weaver in the early 1850s. The museum includes a clog maker's workshop, a handloom chamber, a spinning room, a cropping room, kitchen and living rooms. The museum is run entirely by voluntary members.
