Bagby Airfield

Bagby is a village and civil parish in the former Hambleton District of North Yorkshire, England, 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Thirsk. The parish had a population of 470 according to the 2001 census and a population of 593 at the 2011 Census. The parish shares a grouped parish council with the adjacent parish of Balk. The village is a mixture of old and new properties, farms, and some specialist furniture makers.

St Mary's Church is the parish church of Bagby, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. A chapel in Bagby was recorded in the Domesday Book, and again in the 14th century. It was entirely rebuilt in 1862, to a design by Edward Buckton Lamb. It was grade II listed in 1984. The church is built of stone, with a slate roof. It has a cruciform plan, but the crossing is wider than the nave, and the transepts are short. The chancel is very small, and the nave has a south porch. The crossing has a pyramidal roof, topped by a small tower with a spirelet. Inside, the wooden roof structure is of interest, being particularly complex around the crossing, leaving space only for small quatrefoil lights in each corner. Most of the other windows are three-light and topped with trefoils, under pointed arches, though those in the nave have flat arches.

Thirkleby Hall was a large 18th-century country house in Great Thirkleby in the Hambleton hills of North Yorkshire. It was demolished in 1927.

Hutton Sessay is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. In 2013 the population of the civil parish was estimated at 100. The village is situated just west of the A19 between Thirsk and Easingwold.

Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated on the A170 at the foot of Sutton Bank, about three miles east of Thirsk.

Sessay is a small, linear village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 4 miles (6 km) south-east from Thirsk, and 2 miles (3 km) west from the A19 road close to the East Coast Main Line. The civil parish also includes the village of Little Sessay, where the parish church and school are located. In 2013 the population of the civil parish was estimated at 320. The 2001 UK Census recorded the population as 311 of which 266 were over sixteen years old. There were 130 dwellings of which 90 were detached.

St Felix's Church is the parish church of Felixkirk, a village in North Yorkshire, in England. There was a church in Felixkirk before the Norman Conquest. The church was enlarged in the 12th century, with aisles added, and much of the material survives from this period. Nikolaus Pevsner discusses the idea that the nave may originally have been round, although remains do not suggest this, and the form would be very unusual for the region. The tower was added in the 15th century, and perhaps in the 16th century a square sanctuary was added. Between 1859 and 1860, W. H. Dykes heavily restored the church, attempting to create an idealised Romanesque appearance. He located the foundations of the original rounded chancel, demolishing the sanctuary and rebuilding on the foundations. The church was grade II* listed in 1966. The church is built in sandstone, with a lead roof on the chancel, and a stone slate roof elsewhere. The church consists of a nave, north and south aisles, a south porch, a chancel with an apse, and a west tower. The tower has two stages, diagonal buttresses, a three-light west window, a south clock face, two-light bell openings, and an embattled parapet. The west window in the south aisle is Norman, and in the chancel is a re-set Norman doorway. Inside the church is the tomb of William de Cantilupe, who died in 1309, and there is an effigy of Eva of Boltby, of similar date.
