The Kunst Museum Winterthur (The Winterthur Museum of Art) is an art museum in Winterthur, Switzerland run by the local Kunstverein. From its beginnings, the activities of the Kunstverein Winterthur were focused on contemporary art – first Impressionism, then Post-Impressionism and especially Les Nabis, through post-World War II and recently created works by Richard Hamilton, Mario Merz and Gerhard Richter.

Winterthur railway station (German: Bahnhof Winterthur) is the principal railway station of Winterthur, in the Swiss canton of Zürich. The station is listed on the Swiss Inventory of Cultural Property of National Significance.Winterthur is Switzerland's fifth busiest station, and is a major node between Switzerland's largest railway nucleus in Zürich and places in Eastern Switzerland (such as St. Gallen and Schaffhausen), as well as Germany (Munich), and Austria (Vorarlberg). The station is served by trains on Zürich's suburban S-Bahn network, as well as by regional and intercity trains, with all through passenger trains making a stop. It is directly linked to Zürich Flughafen – Zurich Airport's railway station – within 15 minutes travelling time seven times per hour. Zürich Hauptbahnhof can be reached with up to 16 direct connections per hour, the fastest of which takes 22 minutes. The station has five standard-gauge platforms serving nine tracks and is the central node of the local Stadtbus Winterthur network and regional bus services (e.g. PostBus Switzerland). All public transport in and around Winterthur is part of the canton of Zürich's integrated fare network ZVV.

Winterthur (German pronunciation: [ˈvɪntɐtuːɐ̯] (listen); French: Winterthour) is a city in the canton of Zürich in northern Switzerland. With over 110,000 residents it is the country's sixth-largest city by population, and is the ninth-largest agglomeration with about 140,000 inhabitants. Located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of Zürich, Winterthur is a service and high-tech industrial satellite city within Greater Zürich. The official language of Winterthur is German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect, Zürich German. Winterthur is usually abbreviated as Winti in the local dialect and by its inhabitants. Winterthur is connected to Germany by direct trains and has links to Zurich Airport. It is also a regional transport hub: the A1 motorway from Geneva through to St. Margrethen connects in Winterthur with the A4 motorway heading north toward Schaffhausen and the A7 motorway heading close to the Swiss-German border at Kreuzlingen. There are also roads leading to other places such as Turbenthal. The railway station is the fourth busiest railway station in Switzerland, and is 20 minutes away by train from Zürich.

Altstadt is the German language word for "old town", and generally refers to the historical town or city centre within the old town or city wall, in contrast to younger suburbs outside. Neustadt (new town), the logical opposite of Altstadt, mostly stands for a part of the "Altstadt" in modern sense, sometimes only a few years younger than the oldest part, e. g. a late medieval enlargement.

Stadt is a district in the Swiss city of Winterthur. It is district number 1, thus mainly comprising the original city. The district comprises the quarters Altstadt, Lind, Heiligberg, Tössfeld, Brühlberg and Neuwiesen.

The Winterthur tramway network (Alemannic German: Strassenbahnnetz Winterthur) was part of the public transport network of the city of Winterthur, in the canton of Zürich, Switzerland, for more than 50 years. Opened in 1898, the network also served the neighbouring communities of Töss, Wülflingen, Oberwinterthur and Seen, all of which were incorporated into the municipality of Winterthur in 1922. After reaching its maximum extent in 1931, the network was gradually replaced from 1938 by the Winterthur trolleybus system, until the network's closure in 1951. Throughout its existence, the network's operator was the Gesellschaft Winterthur-Töss (WT), which was renamed Städtische Strassenbahn Winterthur (StStW) in 1900 and Verkehrsbetriebe Winterthur (VW) in 1940. The company still exists today, as Stadtbus Winterthur (DE).

Vitudurum (sometimes Vitodorum) is the name of a Roman vicus, those remains are located in Oberwinterthur, a locality of the municipality of Winterthur in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland.

The Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW; German: Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften) located in the city of Winterthur, with facilities in Zurich and Wädenswil, is one of the largest University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland and is part of the Zürcher Fachhochschule.Currently, the university has eight schools, covering architecture and civil engineering, health, linguistics, life sciences and facility management, applied psychology, social work, engineering and management and law.The ZHAW School of Management and Law obtained AACSB accreditation in 2015.

The Reinhart Collection formed by Oskar Reinhart is now held in a museum in his old house, "Am Römerholz" in Winterthur, Zurich Canton, Switzerland, as well as the Museum Oskar Reinhart in the centre of Winterthur. It belongs to the Swiss Confederation, Federal Office of Culture (Bundesamt für Kultur, Bern). The collection owns paintings by artists including Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Édouard Manet, Paul Cézanne, Eugène Delacroix, Théodore Géricault, Camille Corot, Honoré Daumier, Jean-François Millet, Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Matthias Grünewald, Lukas Cranach, Vincent van Gogh (two paintings of the Hospital in Arles - ward and garden) and Pieter Breughel the Elder (The Adoration of the Magi in the Snow). The villa is building of 1915, designed by Maurice Turrettini.

Gottfried Keller-Stiftung (Gottfried Keller Foundation, French: la fondation Gottfried-Keller), commonly abbreviated to GKS, is an arts foundation focused on cultural heritage of Switzerland. It was named by its founder Lydia Welti-Escher (1858–1891) after the Swiss national poet Gottfried Keller (1819–1891).

The Sulzer Tower (German: Sulzer-Hochhaus) also known as the Wintower is a high-rise office building in Winterthur, Switzerland. Built between 1962 and 1966, the tower srands at 99.7 m (327 ft) with 28 floors and is the current 10th tallest building in Switzerland. It formerly served as the headquarters of the Swiss industrial engineering firm Sulzer and was the first-ever high-rise building in the country.

Stadion Schützenwiese is a football stadium in Winterthur, Switzerland. It has been the home ground of FC Winterthur since the club's inception in 1896. It has a capacity of 8,550, more specifically 1,100 covered seats, 800 uncovered seats and 6,650 standing places. The field received its first, wooden stands in 1922 on the western side, which were completely replaced in 1957/58 to contain changing rooms, a kiosk, and underground gyms. In 1968 the stadium received funding to build floodlights. To match the Swiss Football League's license requirements introduced in the 2012/13 season, the stadium was modernized in three stages. The first stage contained improvements to the lighting, security, and catering systems, completed by 2013. This was followed by a rebuild of the eastern standing terrace in 2015, and finally a renovation of the main stands.
