Grangemouth Municipal Buildings

Grangemouth Town Hall is a municipal structure in Bo'ness Road, Grangemouth, Scotland. The structure was the meeting place of Grangemouth Burgh Council and remains the main events venue in the area.

Grangemouth (Scots: Grangemooth; Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Ghrainnse, pronounced [ˈiɲɪɾʲ ˈɣɾaiɲʃə]) is a town in the Falkirk council area, Scotland. Historically part of the county of Stirlingshire, the town lies in the Forth Valley, on the banks of the Firth of Forth, 3 miles (4.8 km) east of Falkirk, 5 miles (8.0 km) west of Bo'ness and 13 miles (20.9 km) south-east of Stirling. Grangemouth had a resident population of 17,906 according to the 2001 Census. Preliminary figures from the 2011 census reported the number as 17,373. Grangemouth's original growth as a town relied mainly on its geographical location. Originally a bustling port, trade flowed through the town with the construction of the Forth and Clyde Canal in the 18th century. Nowadays, the economy of Grangemouth is focused primarily on the large petrochemical industry of the area which includes the oil refinery, owned by Ineos, one of the largest of its kind in Europe. The town is twinned with La Porte, Indiana.Residents of the town are known as Portonians.

The Carron (Gaelic: Carrann) is a river in central Scotland, rising in the Campsie Fells and flowing along Strathcarron into the Firth of Forth. It has given its name to several locations in Stirlingshire, as well as a type of cannon, a line of bathtubs, two warships, and an island in the Southern Hemisphere.

Grangemouth Refinery is an oil refinery complex located on the Firth of Forth in Grangemouth, Scotland, currently operated by Petroineos. It is the only operating crude oil refinery in Scotland (following the cessation in 2014 of Bitumen refining activities at the Nynas Dundee Refinery), and currently one of the six remaining UK Refineries. It is reputedly the UK's second-oldest, supplying refined products to customers in Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland, as well as occasionally further afield.

Falkirk is a Scotch whisky distillery in Falkirk, Scotland. Falkirk was the first distillery to recommence whisky production in the Falkirk area since the Rosebank distillery closed in 1993. The distillery produces unpeated lowland style whisky. The distillery produces 200,000 litres of spirit per year.

Grangemouth TMD was a traction maintenance depot located in Grangemouth, Scotland. The depot was situated on the Edinburgh to Dunblane Line and was near Falkirk Grahamston station. The depot code is GM.

Grandsable Cemetery (sometimes called Grangemouth Cemetery) lies east of Falkirk, between the A9 and A803 south of Grangemouth near Polmont. It lies on a small hill with views over the Firth of Forth. It is well-maintained with a mature and well-laid landscape. Unlike other cemeteries in the wider area it has almost no vandalism, probably due to its distance from any main town. The cemetery is operated by Falkirk Council.

Glensburgh is a very small and old hamlet situated on the south bank of the River Carron, 1.1 miles (1.8 km) north-west of Grangemouth. Originally built on farmland in 1240 as houses for farm slaves the now standing cottages date back as far as 1878. Originally called Brockborough the hamlet mainly harvested wheat and corn, until cattle farming became the norm. Nowadays there are no businesses in Glensburgh, they have all closed due to various reasons, the last, the small Glens Goods Convenience Store shut in 1968, though the building still stands.Consisting of only two streets, Glensburgh's population is under 100 however it has always been regarded as one of Grangemouth's more prestigious residencies.William Wallace's mother was born here in 1256, and legend has it that he spent more than one month in the area (in his mother's birth home) whilst preparing for the Battle of Falkirk.Robert Burns, is known to have stayed in the quiet hamlet for some time between 1795 and 1800, until he was chased out by angry locals for getting a bit too familiar with the local landlord's daughter. The Queezy Pig stood with a plaque celebrating Burns' life (and drunken nights) in the tavern for nearly 150 years until it was destroyed during the war.

Mumrills was the site of the largest Roman fort on the Antonine Wall in Scotland. It is possible that Mumrills could exchange signals with Flavian Gask Ridge forts. Some believe Mumrills may have been the site of Wallace's defeat at the Battle of Falkirk. The farm at Mumrills was also used as an early site for the Falkirk Relief Church.

Royal Air Force Grangemouth or more simply RAF Grangemouth is a former Royal Air Force station located 3 mi (4.8 km) north east of Falkirk, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

Redding is a village within the Falkirk council area in Central Scotland. The village is 2.1 miles (3.4 km) southeast of Falkirk, 1.9 miles (3.1 km) south-southwest of Grangemouth and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Polmont. At the time of the 2001 census, Redding had a population of 1,954 residents.

Polmont (Scottish Gaelic: Poll-Mhonadh) is a village in the Falkirk council area of Central Scotland. It lies towards the east of the town of Falkirk, north of the Union Canal, which runs adjacent to the village. Due to its situation in Central Scotland, many locations can be seen from Polmont, ranging from the Ochil Hills and the River Forth, to Cairnpapple Hill. Although giving its name to Polmont Young Offenders Institution, the prison is in fact in Reddingmuirhead.
