Witton, Northwich

Northwich railway station serves the town of Northwich in Cheshire, England. The station has two platforms and is located on the Mid-Cheshire line 28+1⁄4 miles (45.5 km) southwest of Manchester Piccadilly.

Northwich Motive Power Depot was a traction maintenance depot located in Northwich, Cheshire, England. The depot was situated on the Mid-Cheshire line and was located immediately to the southeast of Northwich station. The depot code was latterly NW.

St Paul's Church was in the village of Marston, Cheshire, England. The church was built in 1874 and designed by the Chester architect John Douglas. It was a small church with lancet windows and a "miniature" spire at the west end with a spire. The church has been demolished.It is the only new church designed by John Douglas to have been demolished, other than St Matthew's Church, Saltney which was destroyed by fire in 2008.

St Helen Witton Church, Northwich, is in the centre of the town of Northwich, Cheshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. The church is now known as "St Helen's, Witton" or "Northwich Parish Church". It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Middlewich. Alec Clifton-Taylor includes it in his list of 'best' English parish churches.

Leftwich is a village in Cheshire, England. It has been absorbed into the town of Northwich, and is situated within the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester. The name, given as merely 'Wice' in the Domesday Book of 1086, is written 'Leftetewych' in a document of 1278 and derives from 'Leoftæt's wic' (Leoftæt being a woman's name).Leftwich was historically a manor and township, comprising most of the area between the rivers Weaver and Dane. As well as encompassing the area around Davenham parish church, Leftwich also extended slightly to the north of the River Dane, including the site of the former Northwich Memorial Hall. In 1894 the northern half of Leftwich, which since 1880 had formed part of the Northwich Local Board district, was added to the civil parish and urban district of Northwich. In 1936 Leftwich civil parish ceased to exist, and all of its population was transferred to the civil parish of Davenham; however, most of the same area was subsequently annexed to Northwich in 1955, following the post-war construction of a large housing estate at Leftwich Green by Northwich Urban District Council.The village has two schools: Leftwich Community Primary School and The County High School, Leftwich. Leftwich is to the east of Kingsmead and to the north of Davenham.

Wincham Park is a football stadium in Wincham, a parish on the edge of Northwich, England. The home ground of Witton Albion, it first opened in 1989, after the club left their former Central Ground. Capacity is 4,813, with 600 covered seats on the north side of the stadium. The other three sides of the ground are all standing: the Lostock End, Wincham End, and Popular Side. It has a small club museum at the Lostock end, which is unusual in itself. Wincham Park has not changed much since its construction although cover was added at both ends of the stadium in 1990. The floodlights were replaced in 2010 after supporters walked to nearby Runcorn to raise the funds. The record attendance for a match at Wincham Park was when Northwich Victoria lost 2–0 to Shrewsbury Town on 1 January 2004 in The Football Conference. A crowd of 3,268 (2,609 away) attended the game.The stadium has had a number of names due to sponsorship deals; these include Britannia Carpets Stadium, Bargain Booze Stadium and its current name, the 'U Lock It Stadium'. Wincham Park's former name of The Bargain Booze Stadium was discussed on the popular BBC1 TV show Room 101 hosted by Frank Skinner. Local rivals Northwich Victoria and Runcorn Linnets have ground-shared at Wincham Park. 1874 Northwich have also used the stadium to stage one-off matches.Northwich Victoria and Witton Albion shared Wincham Park whilst both clubs played in the Evo-Stik League First Division North. It is currently used in the NPL West by Witton and the Midland Football League Premier Division by Northwich Victoria - who have just been moved across from the NWCFL Premier.

Marston is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester, in the northwest of England. The settlement is on the River Weaver, close to Anderton and the Anderton Boat Lift. The nearest major settlement to Marston is Manchester, which lies 15 miles (24 km) to the northeast. It is the site of the Lion Salt Works, now an industrial museum.

The Lion Salt Works is the last remaining open pan salt works in Marston, near Northwich, Cheshire, England. It closed as a work in 1986 and is now preserved as a museum.

The Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse, Northwich, Cheshire, records the social, cultural and industrial history of west Cheshire. It was formerly known as the Salt Museum, reflecting its early focus on the history of salt extraction, a local industry dating back to Roman times. The museum was renamed Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse in 2010 as its remit now extends to cover the broader history of the area and also the history of the building itself as a former workhouse.The museum is in the old Northwich Union workhouse, dating from 1839 and situated on the A533 road. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.
