Amarillo Lake

The Ranchotel is a motel in Amarillo, Texas. The building was completed in 1940, and was popular with travelers using the historic U.S. Route 66. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 14, 1995.

FirstBank Southwest Tower is a 374-foot, 31-story building located in Amarillo, Texas, United States. Formerly known as SPS Tower, Bank One Center, Chase Tower, and Amarillo Tower, it is the tallest building in Amarillo and the West Texas region. The building used to be the home of the Amarillo branch of American National Bank. The building also housed the offices of the region's electric power service provider, Southwestern Public Service (which was later acquired by Xcel Energy).The Tower has a striking resemblance to the One Financial Plaza Building in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The First Bank Southwest Tower is only about three stories taller than its counterpart. In October 2008, the West Texas A&M University letters were installed on the First Bank Southwest Tower as part of the agreement to have university classes there.In 2018, Chase decided to close its downtown Amarillo branch in the building. By June 2018, FirstBank Southwest reached an agreement to locate a downtown branch there and receive naming rights on the building in the process. The FDIC approved the application by October 2018, for FirstBank Southwest to have a branch in the building, and the bank plans to be operational there by the middle of 2019. Work began in late March 2019 to place the letters for the logo sign for FirstBank Southwest at the top of the tower in three places. The process was scheduled to take around two weeks' time.The tower was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 6, 2019.

The Oliver–Eakle–Barfield Building is an historic building located at 600 South Polk Street in Amarillo, Texas. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 11, 2019.The building was converted into the Barfield Hotel in 2019.

Central Presbyterian Church (also known as First Presbyterian Church) is a historic church at 1100 Harrison Street in Amarillo, Texas. It was built in a Late Gothic Revival, Tudor Revival style and was added to the National Register in 1991.

The Potter County Courthouse is a government building for Potter County, located in the county seat of Amarillo, Texas. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 22, 1996.

The Santa Fe Building is one of the oldest buildings in downtown Amarillo, Texas, U.S.A. It was completed on January 18, 1930 and had the regional offices of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway company. The Amarillo office of the railroad company supervised more than 5,800 miles (9,334 km) of railroads. Brennan Construction Company of Amarillo and Dallas built the building from 1928 to 1930 with an original construction cost of US$1.5 million.The building was vacant more than a decade in the 1990s, until Potter County bought it for $426,000 to gain new office spaces in 1995. It was reopened in 2000, after Potter County spent approximately $14.1 million on renovating the building.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Amarillo (Latin: Dioecesis Amarillensis) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Amarillo, Texas. It was founded on August 3, 1926 out of territory taken from the Diocese of Dallas and the Diocese of San Antonio on the same day that the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio, its metropolitan see, was elevated to metropolitan status, replacing New Orleans. The Diocese consists of the following 26 counties in the Texas panhandle: Armstrong, Briscoe, Carson, Castro, Childress, Collingsworth, Dallam, Deaf Smith, Donley, Gray, Hall, Hansford, Hartley, Hemphill, Hutchinson, Lipscomb, Moore, Ochiltree, Oldham, Parmer, Potter, Randall, Roberts, Sherman, Swisher, and Wheeler.

JetBlue Flight 191 was a scheduled domestic commercial passenger flight from New York to Las Vegas, United States. On March 27, 2012, the Airbus A320 serving the route diverted to Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport, in Amarillo, Texas, after the captain, suffering from an apparent mental breakdown, started behaving erratically and making disturbing and incoherent statements, leading to the first officer tricking him into entering the cabin where he was restrained by passengers. There were no fatalities.

The availability of the railroad and freight service provided by the Fort Worth and Denver City Railroad contributed to the city's growth as a cattle-marketing center in the late 19th century.Amarillo was once the self-proclaimed "Helium Capital of the World" for having one of the country's most productive helium fields. Amarillo operates one of the largest meat-packing areas in the United States. Pantex, the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility in the country, is also a major employer. The location of this facility also gave rise to the nickname "Bomb City". The attractions Cadillac Ranch, and Big Texan Steak Ranch are located adjacent to Interstate 40. U.S. Highway 66 also passed through the city.

Marvin Jones Federal Building and Mary Lou Robinson United States Courthouse, formerly known as the Amarillo U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, is a courthouse of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas built in Amarillo, Texas in 1937. It reflects Art Deco architecture and Moderne architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. In addition to its continuous use as a courthouse, it has served as a post office, as a customhouse, and as a government office building.It was renamed for U.S. Court of Claims judge John Marvin Jones in 1980, and was renamed the J. Marvin Jones Federal Building and Mary Lou Robinson United States Courthouse in 2018 in honor of federal judge Mary Lou Robinson.

Sacred Heart Cathedral is a former cathedral church located in Amarillo, Texas, United States. It was the seat of the Diocese of Amarillo from 1927 to 1975.
