Muthorai Palada

Kappathorai is a village near Ooty in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located in Nilgiris district.

The Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) is located in Muthorai near Ooty, in South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is part of the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), which is funded by the Government of India through the Department of Atomic Energy. The radio telescope is a 530-metre (1,740 ft) long and 30-metre (98 ft) tall cylindrical parabolic antenna. It operates at a frequency of 326.5 MHz with a maximum bandwidth of 15 MHz at the front end.

Fernhill Palace was the erstwhile summer residence of the Maharaja of Mysore. The first Fernhills bungalow was built in 1844 as a private residence in the hill station Ooty in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. In the 1990s, Fernhill Palace became a heritage hotel and today it is considered a luxury resort, attracting visitors from around the world. The palace resembles a Swiss Chalet with its carved wooden bargeboards and ornamental cast iron. The palace grounds with its manicured gardens, firs and cedars accentuate the alpine look of the place. There is a church-like indoor badminton court on the grounds.

The Lawrence School, Lovedale, is a fee-charging co-educational public boarding school located at Lovedale, a hill station on the Nilgiri Mountains in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Manihatty, also known as B.Manihatty, is a village in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu, India. Manihatty is 16 km to the south west of Ooty, the district capital of the Nilgiris. The residents of the village are predominantly part of the Badaga people, an ethnolinguistic community in the Nilgiris district. The village of Manihatty consists of two smaller hamlets: Kunna Hatty (Meaning "small village" in the Badaga language) and Dodda Hatty ("big village"). Kunna Hatty is the ooru, the primary village, supposedly built by the ancestors, while Dodda Hatty is an offshoot from Kunna Hatty. Over the years, Dodda Hatty has grown considerably in terms of the number of households and relative population. At present, Kunna Hatty has about 100 households and Dodda Hatty about 350 households.

Ooty lake is an artificial lake near Ooty in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, India. It covers an area of 26 hectares (64 acres). The boathouse on the lake is a major tourist attraction.

Western Catchment is an area of The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, situated about 20 km from Ooty. The Western Catchment area is protected by the Forest Department, and tourists are not allowed in without permission. Earlier some regional movies were filmed here, but due to environmental protection permission is no longer given.

Ooty Bus Stand, also known as Udhagamandalam Central Bus Stand is a bus station located in the town of Ooty. It serves as main bus stand for The Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, apart from bus stands in Coonoor, Kotagiri and Gudalur.

The Nīlgiris district is one of the 38 districts in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Nilgiri (English: Blue Mountains) is the name given to a range of mountains spread across the borders among the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The Nilgiri Hills are part of a larger mountain chain known as the Western Ghats. Their highest point is the mountain of Doddabetta, height 2,637 m. The district is contained mainly within the Nilgiri Mountains range. The administrative headquarters is located at Ooty (Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam). The district is bounded by Coimbatore to the south, Erode to the east, and Chamarajnagar district of Karnataka and Wayanad district of Kerala to the north. As it is located at the junction of three states, namely, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, significant Malayali and Kannadiga populations reside in the district. Nilgiris district is known for natural mines of Gold, which is also seen in the other parts of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve extended in the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Kerala too. Nilgiris district ranked first in a comprehensive Economic Environment index ranking districts in Tamil Nadu (except Chennai district) prepared by the Institute for Financial Management and Research in August 2009. Tea and coffee plantations have been important to its economy. As of 2011, the Nilgiris district had a population of 735,394, with a sex-ratio of 1,042 females for every 1,000 males. All types of single use plastics are banned in Nilgiris district: it is the first plastic free district in Tamil Nadu.

Ketti, also called Ketti Valley, is a small town nestled in a large valley of the same name. It is located in The Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu State, South India and is a Revenue Village of Coonoor Taluk. Upper Ketti is another village called Yellanahalli, which is located on the main Coonoor to Ooty road.

Athigaratty (also known as Adigaratty) is a hamlet located in the Nilgiri Hills in the state of Tamil Nadu. One of the largest villages in the Nilgirs South India with over 800 households. Athigaratty is located 10 km from Udagamandalam and 18 km from Coonoor. It is one of the largest Badaga Hattis (villages) in the Nilgiris in terms of the number of houses, next only to village of Nanjanadu. The major occupation of the people of Athigaratty is tea plantation. The local dialect of the Nilgiris is Badaga and Tamil Athigaratty is popular for 'Ther Abba' (Ther = chariot, Abba = Festival) procession, an annual carnival which draws a large crowd from around the Nilgiris.

St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School is a boys' school located in the scenic hill station town Ooty, which is part of The Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu, India. The school was started by Christian missionaries in 1820.
