Esposizione universale (1942)

EUR is a residential and business district in Rome, Italy, part of the Municipio IX. The area was originally chosen in the 1930s as the site for the 1942 World's Fair which Benito Mussolini planned to open to celebrate twenty years of Fascism, the letters EUR standing for Esposizione Universale Roma ("Universal Exposition Rome"). The project was originally called E42 after the year in which the exhibition was to be held. EUR was also designed to direct the expansion of the city towards the south-west and the sea, and to be a new city centre for Rome. The planned exhibition never took place due to World War II. Most of the area is the property of EUR S.p.A., a company jointly owned by the Ministry of Economy and the Municipality of Rome.

The Obelisk of Marconi, or Obelisk of EUR, is an obelisk of Rome (Italy), counted among the most modern in the city together with the Obelisco Novecento (by Arnaldo Pomodoro) and the obelisks of the Foro Italico, Villa Torlonia and Villa Medici. A work of the sculptor Arturo Dazzi, it is dedicated to the physicist, inventor and senator Guglielmo Marconi.

The Museo delle Civiltà (Italian for 'Museum of Civilisations') is an Italian state museum in the EUR district of Rome.

Rome's National Museum of Oriental Art "Giuseppe Tucci" (Italian: Museo Nazionale d'Arte Orientale 'Giuseppe Tucci' ) is a museum (now closed) in Rome, Italy, that was dedicated to the arts of the Orient, from the Middle East to Japan. The museum was located in Via Merulana 248 in the Rione Esquilino.

The "Luigi Pigorini" National Museum of Prehistory and Ethnography is a public and research museum located in Rome, Italy. Established in 1875 and opened in 1876 by Luigi Pigorini, from 2016, it is one of the four museums inside the Museum of Civilizations' network, and is currently directed by Andrea Viliani. The museum was housed in the Collegio Romano from 1875 to 1923.

The Circuito cittadino dell'EUR was a street circuit located in the EUR neighborhood in Rome, Italy. It was used for the Rome ePrix of the single-seater, electrically powered Formula E championship. It was first used on 14 April 2018 for the 2018 Rome ePrix.

Genius of Fascism is a statue from 1939 by the Italian sculptor Italo Griselli. It is located outside the Palazzo degli Uffici in the EUR district of Rome, Italy. In 1952, the supervisor of the district, Virgilio Testa, renamed the statue Genius of Sport. Cestuses were then added to the hands of the figure.

Palazzo dei Congressi (formally: Palazzo dei Ricevimenti e dei Congressi) is a building located in the EUR district of Rome, Italy. The palazzo was designed by Adalberto Libera for the 1942 Universal Exposition. Construction started in 1938 but was cancelled due to World War II. It was completed in 1954. Due to its large size, the palazzo hosted the fencing part of the modern pentathlon events for the 1960 Summer Olympics.

EUR Fermi is a station on Line B of the Rome Metro. Opened in 1955, it is sited in the EUR between Viale America and Piazza della Stazione Enrico Fermi. Next to it is the artificial lake created for the 1960 Summer Olympics. The station's atrium houses mosaics which have won the Artemetro Roma prize by Bruno Ceccobelli (Italy) and Rupprecht Geiger (Germany).

INAIL Tower also Palazzo INAIL; former as Torre Alitalia, Torre IBM is a skyscraper in Rome, Italy. Has 72 metres and 21 floors. Today, it is one of tallest buildings in the city. Lies within EUR. It is the headquarters of the National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work. Built in 1965, was a vertical 19-storey building, 72 metres high, as the seat of the national airline - Alitalia, commonly called "Torre Alitalia" or "Alitalia Skyscraper". It was purchased in the mid-eighties by IBM company, which faced serious problems related to aging and to the safety of the building: very high energy consumption and inadequate fire safety measures. In addition, several components of the facade were built using asbestos and had to be dismantled. After taking into consideration the idea to demolish the tower, was a competition for the refurbishment of the building. He won the architect Gino Valle who redesigned the façade (the building is recognizable by its blue-white colour and its "bulges" on both sides), the interior spaces and facilities. The building was also appreciated from an aesthetic point of view as the "lightness of reflective facades and curved, in contrast with the travertine base", the typical stone of historical buildings in Rome.

EUR Palasport is a station on Line B of the Rome Metro, in the EUR district of Rome between Viale America and Piazza Umberto Elia Terracini. It was opened in 1955 as EUR Marconi but renamed to its present name on the opening of the new Marconi station. Beside it is the artificial lake created for the 1960 Summer Olympics.

LunEur (complete name Luna Park Permanente di Roma) is an amusement park in Rome and the oldest (still operating) in Italy, dating back to 1953. It took its name from the Eur district in Rome where it is located. The park closed in 2008, a decision made by the prefetto in order to guarantee the safety of the area but it reopened in 2016. La società che gestisce il parco da febbraio 2008 è Cinecittà Entertainment. che ha vinto il bando di gara avviato da EUR spa proprietaria del suolo dove sorge il parco.
