Puente de la Unidad or Viaducto de la Unidad is a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge designed by Óscar Bulnes that crosses the Santa Catarina River and connects the cities of Monterrey and San Pedro Garza García in the Mexican state of Nuevo León. It is part of a circuit called "Circuito La Unidad", which would consist of the interconnection of a series of avenues.

The University of Monterrey (Spanish: Universidad de Monterrey, acronym "UDEM") is a private Catholic-inspired secondary and higher education institution in the municipality of San Pedro Garza García, belonging to the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Founded in 1969, it is open to all creeds and conditions. UDEM was founded by the Daughters of the Immaculate Mary of Guadalupe, the nuns of the Sacred Heart, the Marist Brothers and the La Salle Brothers, supported by an association of Catholic citizens. The idea originated from a recommendation given by the Second Vatican Council to use educational activities in favor of teaching the principles of the catholic doctrine. The founding religious groups already had a deep history in Monterrey. The Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus had been working in Monterrey since 1908, and the Sisters of Immaculate Mary of Guadalupe founded Labastida University in 1951, and had been running Labastida College since 1919, an institution devoted to the education of girls and young ladies. On the other hand, the Marist Brothers had been working in Monterrey since 1905, and La Salle Brothers, who had left Mexico during the Revolution war, returned in 1942 to Monterrey to found the Instituto Regiomontano. On July 8, 1969, the university was recognized as such by the state of Nuevo Leon and on September 8 of the same year, it began operating as an educational institution housed in 5 different facilities owned by the very same groups and associations that funded it, such as Labastida school. Until one day a philanthropist named Roberto Garza Sada who studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology searching to elevate education in Nuevo Leon Mexico started searching for some educators and at the same time for a piece of land bought the campus property and gave the money to start building this university on which later his daughter Margarita Garza Sada, looking to honor her father, and with Japanese Architect Tadao Ando, gave the money to build the Centro Roberto Garza Sada for Architecture and Design. Currently, UDEM educates over 16 thousand students, including high school students, undergraduates and postgraduates. The school offers 4 high school modes, 46 majors, 13 bachelor's degrees and 37 medical specialties and doctorates. UDEM offers a number of choices to study abroad; UDEM has established bilateral, reciprocal and unilateral agreements, as well as arrangements through academic exchange agencies. In 2002, UDEM signed 26 new bilateral agreements with universities in the United States – such as the University of California – Berkeley and other universities in Spain, Italy, Belgium, England (such as University College, London), Germany and France (such as the Lycée Bossuet-Notre Dame, in Paris).

Oficinas del Parque Torre 2 (or Oficinas en el Parque Torre II), it is one of Monterrey's tallest skyscrapers. Its construction began in 1996 and finished two years later, in 1998. The tower, along with its slightly shorter twin, is part of a complex used mainly for offices, as the name states.

Calzada del Valle and Calzada San Pedro, are three-laned intersecting gardened boulevards that serve as the main avenues of the affluent Colonia del Valle neighborhood of San Pedro Garza García, a suburb of the larger metropolitan city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Exclusive shops, apartment buildings, and business offices are located throughout the avenues. The walkway in the boulevard is great for exercising, walking or marathons. Parades usually take place during Easter and Christmas through the Calzada. Calzada del Valle is famous for its illuminated trees during Christmas season.

On August 25, 2011, members of drug cartel Los Zetas set a casino on fire in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, killing 52 people.The arson attack left over a dozen injured, and over 35 trapped for several hours before the Mexican forces arrived at the place minutes after the incident. Media reports state the majority of those killed were women, including one who was pregnant. Although the government crackdown of the drug cartels dates back to 2006, Monterrey became an increasingly violent city in 2010, due to the rupture of the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas.Surveillance footage shows vehicles with armed gunmen arriving at the entrance of Casino Royale. After the gunmen descended from their vehicles, they stormed the casino's main entrance, opened fire on guests, and doused the casino entrances with gasoline and started a fire that trapped people inside. The attack was classified as the most violent and bloodiest in the history of Monterrey and one of the worst in the state of Nuevo León.

Gruma reported revenues of US$3.8 billion for 2014. It operates more than 79 plants worldwide, mainly in Mexico, the United States, and Europe, and employs approximately 18,000 people. It is listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange since 1994, and it had a NYSE listing through ADRs from 1998 to September 2015. It is a constituent of the IPC, the main benchmark index of Mexican stocks.

Galerías Monterrey was the first shopping mall in Monterrey, Mexico. Founded in 1983 with Liverpool, it has grown to attract upscale fashion stores, restaurants, and movie theaters.

The American School Foundation of Monterrey is a private, nonprofit, international school located in Monterrey, Mexico, which provides a U.S.-type education to international and Mexican students. It is one of a few American-style educational centers in this city and is notable for being the oldest one of that group. The school is governed by a founders' board which meets twice a year and that elects a board of directors serving as the school's board of education. This board is constituted of 15 members serving up to four 3-year terms. All instruction is in English except for Spanish classes. For grades 10th to 12th there are two courses of study, one leading to a Mexican bachillerato and the other to a U.S. high school diploma. Students can choose either to follow just the U.S. diploma or both courses. The option to do the Mexican bachillerato alone is not offered.

Instituto Regiomontano is a private institution serving students from Pre-School through High School in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. It is part of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. It has two campus: Chepe Vera and Cumbres. The actual principal of the school is Alejandro Romero Frausto. In September 2012 the school turned 70.

The Monterrey Open is a professional women's tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. The event is affiliated with the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), and is part of the 250 series on the WTA Tour. From 2009 to 2013, the tournament was held in the Sierra Madre Tennis Club and since 2014 the tournament is currently held at the Club Sonoma.
