Kleparz is a neighbourhood in Kraków, Poland, situated directly to the north of the Old Town, marking the beginning of the Royal Road. It was a separate town between 1366 and 1792. It is now part of the Stare Miasto administrative district.

Montelupi Palace, also known as the Tarnowski Palace or the Palace on the Way (Polish: Pałac na Szlaku or Pałac Montelupich) is a 17th-century palace in Kraków, Poland. It was built for the Montelupi family, descendants of an Italian-born merchant Sebastiano Montelupi, banker in the court of King Sigismund III Vasa. The palace was later owned by the noble Tarnowski family and others. The palace is located at ul. Szlak 71 street (translated as on the Way) in the District of Stare Miasto close to the city centre. Even though the building is listed as monument since 1989 in the registry of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, it has been neglected since 1998, while the Tarnowski family members continued their legal proceedings against the city for its private ownership.

Dzielnica I Stare Miasto (means "District 1 old town") is a district (Polish: dzielnica) of the city of Kraków, Poland. The first administrative district covers a wider area than the Old Town of Kraków itself. Four out of nine subdivisions are forming UNESCO's World Heritage Site "Historic Centre of Kraków". Six subdivisions are part of the Historic Monument (pomnik historii) "Historical ensemble of the city of Kraków".

The Monument to Jadwiga and Jagiełło is a Gothic monument in Kraków, in the northern part of Planty at Basztowa Street, commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Polish-Lithuanian union. Founded by Tomasz Oskar Sosnowski, it depicts Queen Jadwiga of Poland and Władysław Jagiełło at the moment of their nuptials. Made of Carrara marble, decorated with the coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania, it was unveiled in 1886. The whole is decorated with a Latin inscription and a plaque commemorating the union of 1386. The monument is one of the examples of 19th century monumental art, combining a commemorative function with reference to historical events. Situated on a small hill, integrated into the greenery of the Planty, it is an important element of Kraków's urban landscape. With its marble sculptures and symbolism of coats of arms and inscriptions, the monument recalls the importance of the Polish-Lithuanian Union in building the power of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Since its unveiling, it has been renovated several times, which testifies to the constant concern for its preservation as a historical heritage.

The Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (Polish: Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. Jana Matejki w Krakowie, usually abbreviated to ASP), is a public institution of higher education located in the centre of Kraków, Poland. It is the oldest Polish fine art academy, established in 1818 and granted full autonomy in 1873. ASP is a state-run university that offers 5- and 6-year Master's degree programmes. As of 2007, the Academy's faculty comprised 94 professors and assistant professors as well as 147 Ph.D.s.

The Collegiate Church of St. Florian (Polish: Kościół św. Floriana w Krakowie) is a historic church in Kraków, Poland. It stands at the northern end of Matejko Square and the former centre of the mediaeval city of Kleparz, now a district of Kraków. The edifice marks the beginning of the Royal Road.

The Grunwald Monument (Polish: Pomnik Grunwaldzki) is an equestrian statue of King of Poland Władysław II Jagiełło (1352–1434) located at Matejko Square in Kraków's Old Town and constructed in 1910 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald. It was destroyed in 1939 by Nazi Germans and reconstructed in 1976 according to project by Marian Konieczny.

The Montelupich prison, so called from the street in which it is located, the ulica Montelupich ("street of the Montelupi family"), is a historic prison in Kraków from early 20th century, which was used by the Gestapo in World War II. It is universally recognized as "one of the most terrible Nazi prisons in [occupied] Poland". The Gestapo took over the facility from the German Sicherheitspolizei at the end of March 1941. One of the Nazi officials responsible for overseeing the Montelupich Prison was Ludwig Hahn.World War II prisoners at Montelupich were made up predominantly of the ethnically Polish political prisoners and victims of the Gestapo street raids, but also German members of the SS and Security Service (SD) who had been sentenced to jail terms, British and Soviet spies and parachutists, soldiers who had deserted the Waffen-SS, and regular convicts. The number of political prisoners who passed through or ended their lives in the Montelupich in the years 1940–1944 is estimated at 50,000. Kurkiewiczowa (see Bibliography) states that "medieval tortures" constituted the fundamental and principal interrogation method of the Germans. Although the inscription on the plaque by the (side) door of the prison in the 1939 photograph pictured at right actually reads, "Sicherheits-Polizei-Gefängnis Montelupich", the name "Montelupich Prison" is strictly informal, based on common popular convention, even if it has now passed in that form into history. The Montelupich facility was the detention centre of the first instance used by the Nazis to imprison the Polish professors from the Jagiellonian University arrested in 1939 in the so-called Sonderaktion Krakau, an operation designed to eliminate Polish intelligentsia. In January 1944, 232 prisoners from Montelupich were executed by a Nazi firing squad at Pełkinie. In late January or early February 1944, Wilhelm Koppe issued an order for the execution of 100 Montelupich prisoners as a reprisal for the unsuccessful attempt on the life of Hans Frank. In the locality called Wola Filipowska near Kraków there is a monument commemorating the execution by the Nazis of 42 hostages, all Montelupich prisoners who died on the spot before a firing squad on 23 November 1943. After World War II, Montelupich became a Soviet prison where NKVD and Urząd Bezpieczeństwa tortured and murdered Polish soldiers of the Home Army. At present, the building serves as a temporary arrest and detention facility for men and women, with 158 jail cells and a prison hospital with additional 22 cells.

The Kraków Barbican (Polish: Barbakan Krakowski) is a barbican – a fortified outpost once connected to the city walls. It is a historic gateway leading into the Old Town of Kraków, Poland. The barbican is one of the few remaining relics of the complex network of fortifications and defensive barriers that once encircled the royal city of Kraków in the south of Poland. It currently serves as a tourist attraction and venue for a variety of exhibitions.Today the Barbican is under the jurisdiction of The Historical Museum of the City of Kraków. Tourists may tour its interior with its displays outlining the historical development of fortifications in Kraków.

Bastion III "Kleparz" - is a standard reduit fortification in Kraków from the 1856-1866 period. It is part of the Kraków Fortress. The live music venue Forty Kleparz is located here. It features a 200-person concert hall as well as two bars.

The Princes Czartoryski Museum (Polish: Muzeum Książąt Czartoryskich [muˈzɛum ˈkɕɔ̃ʐɔnt tʂartɔˈrɨskʲix]) – often abbreviated to Czartoryski Museum – is a historic museum in Kraków, Poland, and one of the country's oldest museums. The initial collection was formed in 1796 in Puławy by Princess Izabela Czartoryska. The Museum officially opened in 1878.The Puławy collection was partly destroyed after the November 1830 Uprising and the confiscation of the Czartoryski properties. Most of the Museum holdings, however, were saved and moved to Paris, where they reposed at the Hôtel Lambert. In 1870 Prince Władysław Czartoryski decided to move the collections to Kraków, where they arrived in 1876. The most renowned painting at the Museum is one of Leonardo da Vinci's best-known works, the Lady with an Ermine. Other highlights include two works by Rembrandt; several antiquities, including sculptures; Renaissance tapestries and decorative arts; and paintings by Rembrandt, Hans Holbein the Younger, Jacob Jordaens, Luca Giordano, Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Dieric Bouts, Joos van Cleve, Lorenzo Lotto, Lucas Cranach the Younger, Lorenzo Monaco, Andrea Mantegna, Alessandro Magnasco, and the Master of the Female Half-Lengths. The Museum's main facility closed for restoration in 2010 and reopened in December 2019. During this time, parts of the collection were displayed at other venues.

Tadeusz Kościuszko University of Technology (Polish: Politechnika Krakowska im. Tadeusza Kościuszki) is a public university located in central Kraków, Poland, established in 1946 and, as an institution of higher learning granted full autonomy in 1954. Over 37,000 students graduated from the Polytechnic to this day with degrees. Doctorate degrees were granted to 1200 persons and Habilitated degrees – to additional 300. The number of students admitted each year reaches 4500.
