Canhusen

Osterhusen is a village in the region of East Frisia, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Administratively, it is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Hinte, of which it is located to the northeast. Westerhusen is to the west of Suurhusen and Loppersum. The village dates back to the 10th century as Ostahusun. In 1611, the Accord of Osterhusen was concluded here in which Count Enno III of East Frisia made peace with his rebellious subjects under pressure from the States-General of the Dutch Republic.

The Abelitz (-litz = Leide = channel) is a river of Lower Saxony, Germany, in East Frisia. It is about 20 kilometres (12 mi) long and flows from Marienhafe to its mouth on the Alte Greetsieler Sieltief. This type of river that drains the low-lying polders through a sluice in the sea dyke is also known locally as a Tief and is often the course of an old creek between mudflats.The Abelitz passes through Südbrookmerland, where it flows past the village of the same name, Abelitz (a district of Südbrookmerland), and the Krummhörn. It is 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long, up to 12 metres (39 ft) wide, up to 1.50 metres (4.9 ft) deep and navigable by boats with a draught of 1.20 metres (3.9 ft) and maximum speed of 5 kilometres per hour (3.1 mph). The banks of the Abelitz are often near-natural and covered in reed beds. There are several parallel channels (Nebenläufe) that enclose small islands or run through wetlands. The river is very rich in fish and is well known as an angling area. The bird life on and near the Abelitz is very diverse. During the breeding season riverside walkers and anglers are expected to conduct themselves considerately. The Abelitz is linked to Moordorf by the Abelitz-Moordorf Canal.

Hinte is a village and a municipality in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 20 km south of Norden, and 6 km north of Emden.

Loppersum is a village of almost 1,500 inhabitants in the municipality of Hinte, East Frisia, Germany. Most of the working people have a job in the neighbouring city of Emden.

The Leaning Tower of Suurhusen (German: Schiefer Turm von Suurhusen) is a late medieval steeple in Suurhusen, a village in the East Frisian region of northwestern Germany. According to the Guinness World Records it was at one time the most tilted tower in the world, although intentionally inclined towers such as the Montreal Tower far surpass it. The Suurhusen steeple as of 2007 claimed to be the unintentionally tilted tower with the greatest angle of lean in the world, 1.22° more than Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Wirdum is a municipality in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Ihlow (East Frisian Low Saxon: Îl) is a village and a municipality in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 8 km southwest of Aurich, and 15 km east of Emden.

Cirkwehrum is a small village in the region of East Frisia, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Administratively, it is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Hinte, of which it is located to the northwest. Cirkwehrum is about 8 kilometers to the north of Emden. There was a borg near the village in the 14th century. This castle was destroyed by Ocko II tom Brok, when he made an almost successful attempt to gain control of the whole of East Frisia. The village church from that time has now also disappeared. The current church dates from 1751.

Westerhusen is a village in the region of East Frisia, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Administratively, it is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Hinte, of which it is located to the southwest. Westerhusen is about 5 kilometers to the north of Emden. The Church of Westerhusen from the 15th century is located in the middle of the warft on which the village is built. The church had a Romanesque predecessor from the 13th century. The church organ in this building dates from 1643.

Suurhusen is a village north of Emden in the German region of East Frisia. It has about 1,100 inhabitants and is administered by the municipality of Hinte. The steeple of the Suurhusen church, inclined at an angle of 5.19 degrees, is the most leaning tower of the world, beating the Leaning Tower of Pisa by 1.22 degrees.The settlement was first mentioned in documents from 1255 and in former times was also called Zuiderhusen ("Southern Husen"), most likely due to close proximity of Osterhusen and Westerhusen. However, a stone with the year 1004 and ceramic objects found in the old church tower point to the fact that the village is much older. In the village centre is a small museum in which the life of an agricultural worker's family is illustrated.

Marienwehr is a small village in Lower Saxony, Germany. The East Frisian village is currently a borough (Stadtteil) of the city of Emden together with Uphusen. The village is located on a warft Shortly before the start of the Second World War and especially in the years immediately afterwards, new settlement houses were built northeast of the village center, on the shore of the lake called Kleines Meer ('Little Lake').
