Near North Side, Chicago

North Chicago Township was a township in Cook County, Illinois that was part of the City of Chicago. It comprised that part of pre-1889 Chicago north and east of the Chicago River. When Lake View Township to its north was annexed to Chicago in 1889, it was maintained as a township and not incorporated into North Chicago Township, so the latter continued to be bound to the north by Fullerton Avenue. Chicago residents voted to eliminate the townships in the city in 1902, including North Chicago Township; nevertheless, they remain in use for the purposes of property assessment.

Walter Payton College Preparatory High School (commonly known as Payton College Prep, or simply Payton) is a top-rated public 4-year selective enrollment magnet high school located in the Old Town neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. It is currently ranked the No. 1 public high school in the State of Illinois, and No. 4 in the United States, by U.S. News & World Report.

The Neely Building is a building at 871 N. Franklin Street in Chicago's Near North Side. It was designed by Fugard & Knapp and was built in 1922 at a cost of $110,000 ($1,780,775 in today's dollars). The building originally housed the Neely Printing Company. An addition was built in 1936, and a one-story wing was built in 1941, both designed by Thielbar & Fugard. It would occupy the entire block. A fourth story addition was planned in 1946.The building was later owned by Moody Bible Institute. In July 2019, Moody Bible Institute announced they intended to sell the Neely Building and other nearby properties. In February 2020, it was reported that JDL Development had entered into preliminary agreement to purchase Moody's properties.

The Inn at Lincoln Park is a hotel at 601 W. Diversey in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The Isaac N. Maynard Rowhouses are a group of three connected rowhouses located at 119-123 W. Delaware Place in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The rowhouses were built in 1880-81 by Isaac N. Maynard, one of many developers who helped rebuild the residential area around Washington Square after the Great Chicago Fire. The architecture firm of Treat and Foltz designed the homes in the Queen Anne style with additional details from the Eastlake and Victorian Gothic styles. The brick homes feature projecting bays of different shapes and stone patterns, which serve to both differentiate the three homes and give the overall building texture. Stone stringcourses and a cornice encircle and visually unify the building.The rowhouses were added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 25, 2004.

Oak was a station on the Chicago Transit Authority's North Side Main Line, which is now part of the Brown Line. The station was located at 319 W. Oak Street in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago. Oak was situated south of Division, which closed at the same time as Oak, and north of Chicago. Oak opened in 1906 and closed on August 1, 1949, along with 22 other stations as part of a CTA service revision.

The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral is a Greek Orthodox cathedral located in Chicago, Illinois. It is the mother church of the Metropolis of Chicago. The current membership includes some 400 families.

The Burlingham Building is a historic building located at 104 W. Oak Street in the Near North Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Dentist Luke Burlingham had the building constructed in 1883 to house his professional offices, with apartments on the upper floors. While the building was originally four stories tall, the apartments were successful enough that Burlingham added two more stories of apartments in 1897. Architect Alfred Smith designed the Victorian building; as it faces the corner of Oak and Clark Streets, the building is an example of the common Victorian corner buildings of the era. A cast iron turret on the corner and three matching cast iron bays project from the building; each features slate shingles and colored glass in the central windows. The rest of the building is built from red brick with sandstone trim, with a bracketed cast iron cornice along the roof.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 14, 1985.

Moody Bible Institute (MBI) is a private evangelical Christian bible college founded in the Near North Side of Chicago, Illinois, US by evangelist and businessman Dwight Lyman Moody in 1886. Historically, MBI has maintained positions that have identified itself as non-charismatic, dispensational and generally Calvinistic. Today, MBI operates undergraduate programs and Moody Theological Seminary at the Chicago campus. Moody Theological Seminary also operates a satellite campus in Plymouth, Michigan; and Moody Aviation operates a flight school in Spokane, Washington.

The Church of the Ascension is an Anglo-Catholic parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago. Founded in 1857 as a mission of St. James Church, it is now located on North La Salle Drive on Chicago's Near North Side. The church became a part of the Anglo-Catholic movement in 1869. The principal service on Sunday is the Solemn High Mass celebrated at 11 a.m., according to Rite II in the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer (1979). This Mass is celebrated at the High Altar (facing east), and includes three sacred ministers, many acolytes, incense, and music provided by a professional choir. The mass includes processions and other devotions on certain feasts and holy days.

Chicago (Chicago/Franklin in station announcements) is an 'L' station on the CTA's Brown and Purple Lines. Located in the Near North Side neighborhood at 300 W Chicago Avenue at West Chicago Avenue and North Franklin Street in Chicago, Illinois (directional coordinates 800 North, 300 West), the station opened in 1900 as part of the original series of stations on the Northwestern Elevated. A high density of art galleries and several schools is in the vicinity of the station, including the Moody Bible Institute. Chicago/Franklin serves the Brown Line, but Purple Line Express trains also stop at the station during weekday rush hours.

The Newberry Library is an independent research library, specializing in the humanities and located on Washington Square in Chicago, Illinois. It has been free and open to the public since 1887. Its collections encompass a variety of topics related to the history and cultural production of Western Europe and the Americas over the last six centuries. The Library is named to honor the founding bequest from the estate of philanthropist Walter Loomis Newberry. Core collection strengths support research in several subject areas, including maps, travel, and exploration; music from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century; early contact between Western colonizers and Indigenous peoples in the Western Hemisphere; the personal papers of twentieth-century American journalists; the history of printing; and genealogy and local history. Although the Newberry is a noncirculating library, it welcomes researchers into the reading rooms who are at least 14 years old or in the ninth grade, and have a research topic corresponding to the nature of the collections. Additional public services are offered through exhibitions, meet-the-author lectures, adult education seminars, and other programming.
