Harriet Island

The Harriet Island Pavilion, also known as the Clarence W. Wigington Pavilion, is a park pavilion on Harriet Island just across the Mississippi River from downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It was designed by Clarence W. Wigington, the nation's first black municipal architect, and renamed for Wigington after a 2000 restoration. Harriet island was named for Harriet Bishop, a Baptist school teacher from Vermont. She arrived in Saint Paul in 1847, was involved in the temperance movement, and opened the first school in the frontier city, teaching children of diverse ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds.

Minnesota Centennial Showboat was a traditional riverboat theatre docked at Harriet Island Regional Park on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. The showboat contained an intimate jewelbox theatre that seated 225. The interior was decorated to keep in time with the Victorian Era style commonly associated with showboats. The Minnesota Centennial Showboat was run through a partnership with the University of Minnesota Theatre Department and the Padelford Boat Company. The showboat was a longtime tradition with the University beginning in 1958. The University Theatre utilized the showboat as a learning opportunity for its students to experience professional theatre. The showboat had its final performance in 2016.

The Saint Paul Municipal Grain Terminal, also known as the head house (a six-story grain elevator) and sack house, sits on piers over the Mississippi River in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It was built between 1927 and 1931 as part of the Equity Cooperative Exchange and is a remnant of Saint Paul's early history as a Mississippi River port city. The Saint Paul Municipal Grain Terminal was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

The Anthony Yoerg Sr. House is a historic house in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It was the home of Anthony Yoerg (1816–1896), a Bavarian immigrant who constructed Minnesota's first brewery; the house is located high on the bluffs and the brewery was located just below the house on the lowlands in Saint Paul's West Side neighborhood. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.The house was completed in 1875 by Monroe Sheire, and is one of the few surviving works by Sheire. One other surviving work is the Alexander Ramsey House, completed in 1872.

Science Museum of Minnesota is an American museum focused on topics in technology, natural history, physical science, and mathematics education. Founded in 1907 and located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution is staffed by over 300 employees and is supported by hundreds of volunteers. The museum seeks to deliver science and education that centers equity, and its mission statement is to "Turn on the science: Inspire learning. Inform policy. Improve lives."

The John M. Armstrong House is in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. John Milton Armstrong, son of John Armstrong, Jr. (April 20, 1793 – December 22, 1865) hired architect Edward P. Bassford to design this side-by-side duplex in 1886 as income-producing residential housing. The red brick house was originally located at 233-235 West Fifth Street, but was moved to its present location on Eagle Parkway in November 2001.

The Saint Paul Public Library is a library system serving the residents of Saint Paul, Minnesota, in the United States. The library system includes a Central Library, twelve branch locations, and a bookmobile. It is a member of the Metropolitan Library Service Agency, a consortium of eight Twin Cities library systems.

The James J. Hill Center (originally the James J. Hill Reference Library) was a privately funded business research library at 80 West Fourth Street in Saint Paul, Minnesota. On July 3rd, 2019 the library closed to the public citing unsustainable operating costs and needed capital improvements. Until 2019 it was open to the public and its resources could be used for free on site. In addition, the Center hosted business and social events in its historic reading room. On November 18 2019 the center announced it had put the building up for sale. The library is part of the civic legacy of James J. Hill. In June 2021, the Minneapolis-based company First & First bought the building with the intent for it to be used as an event center.The James J. Hill Center was completed after his death and funded by his widow, Mary T. Hill, and children Mary Hill, Rachel Hill Boeckmann, Clara Hill Lindley, Louis W. Hill, and Charlotte Hill Slade. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The St. Paul Women's City Club is a 1931 Art Deco Streamline Moderne-style Mankato limestone clubhouse in Saint Paul, Minnesota, that was designed by architect Magnus Jemne (1882-1964). The building was designed to provide a "center for organized work and for social and intellectual intercourse", and provided a dining room, assembly rooms, dressing rooms, and bedrooms for the 1000 members of the club and their guests. The building was sold to the Minnesota Museum of Art in 1972 and now houses an architectural firm. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Minnesota Boat Club Boathouse on Raspberry Island is a historic structure in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It is the home of the Minnesota Boat Club, a rowing club founded in 1870, that is Minnesota's oldest athletic organization. In 1885, a wooden structure was built on Raspberry Island to house the Minnesota Boat Club. The club constructed a new boathouse in 1910, which was designed by George H. Carsley in the style of Mission Revival architecture. The boathouse building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Irvine Park is a neighborhood just west of downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, that contains a number of historic homes. The neighborhood was platted by John Irvine and Henry Mower Rice in 1849. At the center of the neighborhood is Irvine Park, a New England-style public square. The neighborhood is a district listed on the National Register of Historic Places and also designated by the city as a historic district.The neighborhood suffered for much of the twentieth century. A report on housing from the 1930s characterized the area as being ... in the less desirable rooming-house district; old homes, that at one time were mansions, but, over a period of years have been out-moded. Each successive tenant has been a little less able to pay adequate rent until the present occupants have commercialized the homes in one form or another. In 1970, 96 percent of the neighborhood's houses were classified as substandard by the city. In the early 1970s the city planned to tear down the area and replace it with high-rise apartments for public housing. The neighborhood became a National Register Historic District in 1973 and was named Saint Paul Heritage Preservation District in 1982.
