Våle Church

Brekkeåsen is a residential area in Re municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. Together with Kirkevoll, Brekkeåsen constitutes a village which encircles Våle church. The village has 1,048 inhabitants as of 1 January 2005, encompassing an area of 0.95 km².

Re is a former municipality in Vestfold county (as of 1 January 2020 Vestfold og Telemark), Norway. The administrative center of the municipality was the village of Revetal. The municipality was established in 2002 by the unification of the former municipalities of Ramnes and Våle. It included the villages of Ramnes, Våle, Undrumsdal, Fon, Vivestad (and Revetal). The river Aulielva ran through the district. The highest point in Re was Snippane with an elevation of 400 m (1,312 ft). Snippane is situated on the border to Lardal, three kilometers south of Hof.On 1 January 2020. The municipality became a part of Tønsberg municipality, in the county of Vestfold og Telemark.

Våle is a village in Tønsberg municipality, and former municipality, in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. Våle is a rural, agricultural area, with Kirkevoll/Brekkeåsen, Rånerudåsen, Svinevoll, Sørby and Gretteåsen as more dense housing areas. The administrative centre was Sørby. The parish of Vaale was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 2,408. On 16 July 1873, an uninhabited part of Vaale was moved to Ramnes municipality following a royal resolution. In 1947 a part of Botne with 8 inhabitants was moved to Våle. On January 1, 2002 Våle was merged with Ramnes to form the new municipality Re, which on Januari 1, 2020 was merged into Tønsberg. In 1996 Våle had a population of 3,868. Våle Church (Våle kirke) is located in Nord-Jarlsberg rural deanery. The Medieval church building was built in 1190 of stone and brick. Våle is known for being the village where the Jarlsberg cheese first was produced. Famous residents of Våle include the author Kåre Holt (1916–1997).

Rånerudåsen is a village in Re municipality, Norway. Its population is 206.

Svinevoll is a small village in the local area of Våle in Vestfold, Norway. Historically, Svinevoll was a transportation hub for materials like timber and farm goods such as milk and corn, thanks to the railroad that linked Svinevoll to other larger cities. Timber production continues to play a part in the Svinevoll economy.

Revetal is a village in Tønsberg Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) to the northwest of the city of Tønsberg, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to the northwest of the village of Linnestad, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) to the south of the village of Brekkeåsen, and about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) east of the village of Bergsåsen. Revetal is a regional centre of trade and service, as well as some industry. The village was the administrative centre of the old Re Municipality which existed until it was merged into Tønsberg Municipality. Over the years, the villages of Revetal and Bergsåsen have grown together due to conurbation. Statistics Norway considers them to be one urban area. The 1.62-square-kilometre (400-acre) village area has a population (2023) of 2,419 and a population density of 1,498 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,880/sq mi).

Jarlsberg was a former countship that forms a part of today's Vestfold county in Norway. The former countships of Jarlsberg and Larvik were merged into a county in 1821. Jarlsberg and Larvik's County (Jarlsberg og Larviks amt) were renamed Vestfold in 1919.Created in 1673 as Griffenfeldt Countship (Griffenfeld grevskap), it was after a few years known as Tønsberg Countship (Tønsberg grevskap) until 1684, when the name became Jarlsberg. Dating to 1681, the countship was associated with members of the Dano-Norwegian noble family, Wedel-Jarlsberg. The countship was abolished in 1893 in accordance with Norway's nobility law, but the manor is still in its own family.

Skjeggestad Bridge (Norwegian: Skjeggestadbrua) is the name of two parallel highway bridges on European route E18 in Holmestrand municipality, Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. On 2 February 2015 the southbound bridge partially collapsed. No one was injured and both bridges were closed after collapse. The collapse was caused by a landslide in the quick clay surrounding a support pillar. The southbound lane was fully destroyed in controlled explosive demolitions on 21 February and 25 March 2015. The northbound lane was repaired and reopened to two-way traffic on 26 June 2015. The southbound lane was partially reopened on 1 July and fully operational on 4 July 2016, 17 months after the collapse.

Botne is a former municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The parish of Botne was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). According to the 1835 census the municipality had a population of 1,600. In 1942 a part of Botne with 148 inhabitants was moved to Holmestrand, and in 1947 a part with 8 inhabitants was moved to Våle. On 1 January 1964 the rest of Botne was incorporated into Holmestrand. Prior to the merger Botne had a population of 5,656.

Botne Church (Norwegian: Botne kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Holmestrand Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the village of Botne. It is one of the churches for the Botne parish which is part of the Nord-Jarlsberg prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The white, stone church was built in a long church design around the year 1200 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 240 people.

Bergsåsen is a village in the municipality of Re, Norway. Together with the nearby village Revetal it has a population (SSB 2005) of 1,902.

Fon Church (Norwegian: Fon kirke) is a church in the village of Fon in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. The church is made of stone and built in the Romanesque style. It is a long church (Norwegian: langkirke) dating from the 12th century. It can accommodate 130 people. The church has undergone major changes throughout the ages. The church's bell tower was built in 1839, and it had an older bell tower before this. The church has a pulpit dating from 1603 and an altarpiece from 1633. There are two church bells at Fon Church; both of them were cast at the Olsen Nauen Bell Foundry in Sem. The church's oldest bell is on display at the Olsen Nauen Bell Museum. The baptismal font was gifted to the church in 1714.
