Leonard Reid House

Booker High School is a public high school in North Sarasota, Florida, United States. It is part of the Sarasota County Public Schools district. The athletic teams are known as the Tornadoes. The school was established to serve a predominantly African American community.

Emma E. Booker Elementary School is a public elementary school in Sarasota, Florida, which opened in the fall of 1989. It is one of the Booker Schools, with a middle and high school of the same name nearby. It is a part of Sarasota County Schools. On September 11, 2001, the school received international attention because United States President George W. Bush was visiting when he learned of the terrorist attacks that were unfolding that day.

Sarasota Military Academy (SMA) is a military academy charter school founded in 2002 in Sarasota, Florida. The academy consists of a middle school and a high school. The school's athletic teams compete as the Eagles. Other extracurricular activities include JROTC programs and a drum line squad.

Whitehead Pond, known today as Lime Lake, is a man-made 3-acre (1.2 ha) fresh water pond originally built as a stormwater pond to reduce flooding in the surrounding area. The pond lies at the easternmost edge of 22nd Street in Sarasota, Florida. The pond and its surrounding acreage was originally purchased by Wilmon Whitehead after he returned from World War II in 1947, where he raised his family. Wilmon Whitehead eventually sold the pond and many other acres to Sarasota County. The county redeveloped much of the land, built a school, and made the pond and surrounding area into a county owned park known as Lime Lake Park. The Whitehead family still owns much of the land that wraps around Lime Lake. The original home that Wilmon Whitehead built still sits on the shore of the lake.

The J. G. Whitfield Estate is a historic site in Sarasota, Florida. It is located at 2704 Bayshore Drive. On September 12, 1985, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall is a performing arts venue located at 777 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, Florida neighboring the Sarasota Bay. The main theater of the 80,000 square feet (7,400 m2) facility contains 1,741 seats.
