The Rapid City Carnegie Library is a historic Carnegie library building in Rapid City, South Dakota. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

The Milwaukee Road Freight House in Rapid City, South Dakota, United States, was built by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (also known as The Milwaukee Road) in 1923 to store and ship freight. The building is single storey, rectangular, and constructed of brick. Offices were placed at one end with warehouse space occupying the rest of the building. Large freight doors and bays are along each side. The circa 1915 depot is located east of the freight house. The Milwaukee Road built its line from eastern South Dakota to Rapid City in 1906-07. With the increase of tourists in the late 1910s, the railroad built the freight house. It was built of brick. The design was a modern one, based on other early 20th century commercial buildings. When The Milwaukee Road went bankrupt and abandoned its lines in South Dakota in 1980, it sold the freight house to local businesses for use as offices. The freight house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places because of its association with The Milwaukee Road and railroad development in South Dakota.

The First Congregational Church in Rapid City, South Dakota, also known as The Lord's Chapel, is a historic church at 715 Kansas City Street. It was built in 1914 and was added to the National Register in 1984.It is a two-story masonry and brick building which is about 55 by 73 feet (17 m × 22 m) in plan.

The Rapid City Public Library is the system of public libraries in Rapid City, South Dakota, United States. It is located at 610 Quincy Street. The library offers services at no charge for residents of Pennington County.

The Gambrill Storage Building is a historic two-story building in Rapid City, South Dakota. It was designed in the Renaissance Revival style, and built in 1910 by Horace C. Gambrill.It was reported in the Rapid City Journal in 1910 that it was then the only storage building/warehouse in town. Another RCJ article from 1984 noted, "the building retains its original rectangular windows capped with arched lintels and its contrasting colored brick on the front facade."It has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places since February 23, 1984.

The Rapid City Garage is a historic two-story building in Rapid City, South Dakota. It was built in 1911. The second floor was initially a hotel and later a nursing home until 1965. The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since August 1, 1984.

The Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Rapid City, South Dakota is an historic Gothic Revival sandstone Episcopal church located at 717 Quincy Street. In 1975, Emmanuel Church was added to the National Register of Historic Places.It was built during 1887–88. It is a one-story cross-gabled building.

Rapid City High School (RCHS), formerly the Dakota Junior High School and then the Dakota Middle School, is an alternative high school at 601 Columbus Street, Rapid City, South Dakota. Established in 1923, the building served as the first site of Rapid City Central High School until it moved to a new facility on Mount Rushmore Road North. Rapid City High School also hosts the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. The school building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 28, 2010.

The Diocese of Rapid City (Latin: Dioecesis Rapidopolitana) is a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory, or diocese, of the Catholic Church in western South Dakota in the United States It is a suffragan diocese in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The mother church of the Diocese of Rapid City is the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rapid City. Peter Michael Muhich was installed as bishop on July 9, 2020.

Rapid City is the second most populous city in South Dakota and the county seat of Pennington County. Named after Rapid Creek, where the settlement developed, it is in western South Dakota, on the Black Hills' eastern slope. The population was 74,703 as of the 2020 Census.Known as the "Gateway to the Black Hills" and the "City of Presidents" because of the life-size bronze president statues downtown, Rapid City is split by a low mountain ridge that divides the city's western and eastern parts. Ellsworth Air Force Base is on the city's outskirts. Camp Rapid, part of the South Dakota Army National Guard, is in the city's western part. Rapid City is home to such attractions as Art Alley, Dinosaur Park, the City of Presidents walking tour, Chapel in the Hills, Storybook Island, and Main Street Square. The historic "Old West" town of Deadwood is nearby. In the neighboring Black Hills are the tourist attractions of Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, and the museum at the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research. To the city's east is Badlands National Park.

The Pennington County Courthouse, located at 315 St. Joseph Street in Rapid City, is the county courthouse serving Pennington County, South Dakota. The courthouse has functioned as the seat of Pennington County government since it was built in 1922. Architecture firm W. E. Hulse & Company of Hutchinson, Kansas designed the building in the Beaux-Arts style. The three-story building is built from Indiana limestone and has terra cotta trim. The two-story front entrance is divided into sections by four pairs of Ionic columns; three large arched windows decorated with muntin and topped by keystones decorate the three main sections. The entrance, located at what would be the bottom of the middle window, features iron grilles on its windows and transom and is topped by a cartouche. A frieze with ornamental medallions and a dentillated cornice surround the building above its second story.The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 28, 1976.
