The Arrondissement of Namur (French: Arrondissement de Namur) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in the Walloon province of Namur, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. The territory of the Judicial Arrondissement of Namur coincides with that of the Administrative Arrondissement of Namur.

The Houyoux is a northern tributary stream of the river Meuse in Belgium, flowing through Hesbaye in the province of Namur. The Houyoux rises in Warisoulx passing through the villages of Villers-lez-Heest, Rhisnes, the Namur city suburbs of Saint-Servais and Bomel before its confluence with the Meuse in the city of Namur (In the distant past it fed the moat of the northern wall of the city of Namur). In the past, along the Gembloux-Nemur road that passed through the old municipality of Saint-Servais, the Houyoux allowed some watermill powered industry to grow and contributed to the prosperity of the village before it became suburb of Namur. The average flow of Houyoux measured at Rhisnes, in the municipality of La Bruyère (watershed 46 square kilometres (18 sq mi)) between 1971 and 2003 was 0.27 cubic metres (9.5 cu ft) per second. Bomel is a borough of the city of Namur, Wallonia. It is located behind the Namur railway station and limited by the slopes that rise to the north of Namur. The space it occupies is triangular area bounded by the valley of the Arquet to the east and the valley of the Houyoux west and the city centre of Namur to the south.

The Parliament of Wallonia (French: Parlement de Wallonie) (Walloon Parliament (French: Parlement wallon) in the decrees) is the legislative body of Wallonia, one of the three self-governing regions of Belgium (the other two being Flanders and the Brussels-Capital Region). The parliament building, the former Hospice Saint-Gilles, is situated in Namur, the capital of Wallonia, at the symbolic confluence of the Meuse and the Sambre, the two main rivers of the most inhabited parts of Wallonia, the Sillon industriel. On the other side of the Meuse, facing the Parliament, is the Élysette, the seat of the Government of Wallonia.

The Second Battle of the Sambre (4 November 1918) (which included the Second Battle of Guise (French: 2ème Bataille de Guise) and the Battle of Thiérache (French: Bataille de Thiérache) was part of the final European Allied offensives of World War I.
