Kirkburton Hall

Kirkburton railway station served the village of Kirkburton, West Yorkshire, England until closure in 1930.

Highburton is part of the township of Kirkburton, a village in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is five miles southeast of Huddersfield. It occupies much of the high ground that can be found at the top of the steep inclines of Far Dene and Slant Gate and is a mixture of densely congregated housing estates and open pastoral farmland. According to the 2001 census Highburton had a population of 3,288.

Myers Wood is a wooded area in the village of Kirkburton, West Yorkshire, England. It forms part of a heavily forested area to the west of the village, occupying the rise in the valley leading up to Storthes Hall and beyond. It is directly west of the main Penistone Road, opposite Riley. Saville Wood is directly south, close to Thunder Bridge. Local residents consider the wood to be of poor quality due to the absence of woodland management.The wood is significant for the discovery of an iron-working site dating from the Middle Ages. Archaeological excavations by a team from the University of Bradford uncovered the most complete site in the north of England. The Cistercian monastic iron-working site was in operation from the 12th century to the 14th century, using advanced techniques and water power for smelting and smithing iron. The site is not a tourist feature, there being no formal administration or oversight by a heritage body; however, it is possible to access the site via the footpath that runs through Saville Wood.

Kirkburton is a village, civil parish and ward in Kirklees in West Yorkshire, England. It is 5 miles (8 km) south-east of Huddersfield. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, the township comprises the villages of Kirkburton and Highburton and several hamlets, including Thunder Bridge, Thorncliffe, Storthes Hall, Burton Royd, Riley, Dogley, Common Side, Causeway Foot, Lane Head and Linfit. According to the 2011 census the civil parish had a population of 26,439, while the village itself had a population of 4,299.

Huddersfield Town Women Football Club is an English women's football club based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The team play their homes matches at the Stafflex Arena. They compete in the FA Women's National League North and are affiliated to the professional men's club Huddersfield Town. They were previously known as Huddersfield Town Ladies, but changed to Huddersfield Town Women in 2019.

Shelley Community Football Club is an English football club based in Shelley, West Yorkshire. They were most recently members of the North West Counties League Division One North and play at Storthes Hall Park. The club is a FA Charter Standard Club affiliated to the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Football Association.

Thunder Bridge or Thunderbridge is a hamlet and bridge in the civil parish of Kirkburton, in the Kirklees district, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is near the A629 road and Stocksmoor railway station. Its post town is Huddersfield. It has a pub called the Woodman Inn. The bridge is a Grade II listed building which is a road bridge over Shepley Dike.

Storthes Hall is a part of the township of Kirkburton, West Yorkshire, England. A heavily wooded area, it comprises a single road, Storthes Hall Lane, which links Kirkburton with the nearby villages of Farnley Tyas and Thurstonland. The most significant properties in the area are Storthes Hall Mansion (now a private property), Storthes Hall Hospital (located further west with the main administrative block surviving as a derelict building) and, finally, Storthes Hall Park Student Village which has been built on the old hospital site.

Storthes Hall Hospital was a mental health facility at Storthes Hall, West Yorkshire, England. Founded in 1904, it expanded to over 3,000 patients during the Second World War. After the introduction of Care in the Community in the early 1980s, the hospital went into a period of decline and closed in 1992.

Woodsome Hall is a 16th-century country house in the parish of Almondbury, near Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It is now the clubhouse of Woodsome Hall Golf Club and a Grade I listed building.Built in the Elizabethan era as a hall house, Woodsome evolved in stages in the possession of several generations of the local Kaye family. The main hall range is built in two storeys with gabled forward projecting wings and a two storey gabled porch. At the rear of each end are L-shaped extensions forming a courtyard with a fountain.

Stocksmoor railway station serves the village of Stocksmoor near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. The station is 6.25 miles (10 km) from Huddersfield on the Penistone Line operated by Northern. Most of the Penistone Line is single track between Huddersfield and Barnsley (and has been since 1989). However, Stocksmoor marks the first point (for Sheffield-bound trains) or last point (for Huddersfield-bound trains) where there is dual running track (the passing loop extends as far south as the next station at Shepley and most trains are scheduled to pass each other on this section).

Fenay Bridge and Lepton railway station served the villages of Lepton and Fenay Bridge, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, from 1867 to 1965 on the Kirkburton Branch.
