The La Brea Theatre, also known as Chotiner's La Brea, Fox La Brea, Art La Brea and Toho La Brea was a single-screen movie theater in Los Angeles, California at 857 S. La Brea Avenue. The theatre was notable for being one of the few movie theatres showing Japanese films in the United States after World War II. It was built in the 1920s and had 1,200 seats at opening, and 900 seats after a renovation.The theatre was built initially as part of the "Chotiner's" movie chain. It became part of the Fox theatre chain. It closed in 1954, and re-opened in 1960 as the Art La Brea after a US$70,000 renovation. The 1960 renovation reduced its seating to 640 seats. Later in the 1960s, the theatre was taken over by the Toho company of Japan and used to screen its films and other Japanese films directly, without a distributor. The Toho company also took over cinemas in San Francisco and New York City. The architecture of the building used numerous gothic arches over the doorways and second floor windows. The main lobby's exterior and second floor architecture was reminiscent of a steeple, however it did not have a spire. The building is still standing today, and in fact is used as a church.

Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles (YGLA), also known in English as Michael Diller High School, is a Haredi Jewish high school located in the Fairfax District, Los Angeles. It was established in 1978.The current Dean and Rosh Yeshiva is Rabbi Eliezer Gross. The executive director and Administrator is Rabbi Yossi Gross, one of the Rosh Yeshiva's sons; the school's Secular Studies Principal is Rabbi Shmuel Baruch Manne. The school also operates a Beis Medrash Program for two years, starting in 12th grade (when most students stop taking secular classes) and going on for a year afterwards, led by Rabbi Aron Tzvi Gross and Rabbi Aron Gettinger.With one of its founding members (Rabbi Dovid Grossman) being a graduate of Beis Medrash Govoha (BMG) and YGLA sending many of its graduates to BMG, the hashkafa—or theological leaning—of the Yeshiva is very much aligned with the Litvish stream of Haredi Judaism. YGLA is best known within the wider Haredi, Yeshivish community for emphasizing its intense Talmud program, with mandatory morning, afternoon, and night seders (the first two being classes and the last one chavrusa learning).While its secular studies program is very sparse and normally doesn't meet California's requirements for a high school diploma, which is commonplace for Haredi high schools that overwhelmingly focus on Talmud study, students can opt to take extra classes in order to receive a diploma. YGLA's website claims that "our students exceed the national average for their SAT testing results, and several have become National Merit Finalists." Most of their students do not take the SAT since it is quite rare for a student to go to college. YGLA's students are known in the Fairfax/La Brea area for enthusiastically eliciting donations on Purim, and the school made local news because of a carpenters' union protest about the contractor YGLA was using to build a new building.Donald Sterling donated $50,000 to YGLA in 2010 and as a result the school put up a sign saying "Donald T. Sterling Pavilion" on its building. During the scandal after private recordings of Sterling making racist comments were made public, YGLA covered up the sign.

Brookside is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. It is an enclave of eight tree-lined streets and 400 homes. The neighborhood consists primarily of one-story and two-story, predominantly single-family residences in various Period Revival styles including Spanish Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Mediterranean Revival and French Revival; later buildings were constructed in the Minimal Traditional and Ranch styles.

World on Wheels was a roller rink in Los Angeles, California, United States. The rink opened in 1981, then closed in 2013. After reopening in 2017, it closed again in 2020.The rink is featured in the HBO documentary film United Skates.

Rancho Las Cienegas was a 4,439-acre (17.96 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Los Angeles County, California given in 1823 to Francisco Avila by Governor Luis Antonio Argüello. "La Cienega" is derived from the Spanish word cienaga, which means swamp or marshland and refers to the natural springs and wetlands in the area between the Baldwin Hills range and Baldwin Hills district, and Beverly Hills. The rancho was north of Rancho La Cienega o Paso de la Tijera and east of present-day La Cienega Boulevard between Wilshire Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard. The Los Angeles River would periodically change course historically, and flowed through westerly the rancho's lowlands to Ballona Creek and the Santa Monica Bay until 1825, when it returned to the southerly course through Rancho San Pedro to San Pedro Bay.

Miracle Mile is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California. It contains a stretch of Wilshire Boulevard known as Museum Row. It also contains two Historic Preservation Overlay Zones: The Miracle Mile HPOZ and the Miracle Mile North HPOZ.

The E. Clem Wilson Building, also called the Samsung Building, is a 55.64 m (182.5 ft) Art Deco / Art Moderne midrise building at 5225 Wilshire Boulevard at La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, California. The building is currently managed by VisionQuest Ventures. The building has had multiple different names from signage rights, starting with Mutual of Omaha, then becoming Asahi in the 1990s, and becoming Samsung in the early 2000s. It now remains a blank blue sign.

Wilshire/La Brea is an under-construction heavy-rail subway station in the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system and is slated to open in early 2023. It will be served by the D Line and will be the first station on that line west of Wilshire/Western station.

The Dominguez–Wilshire Building is located at 5410 Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles, an Art Deco landmark. The property was named after its developers, the Dominguez family, the heirs to the first land grant given in California by King Carlos III of Spain. The project architects were Morgan, Walls & Clements.

Mid City (also Mid-City) is a neighborhood in Central Los Angeles, California. Attractions include restaurants and a post office named for singer Ray Charles, who had his recording studio in Mid City. The neighborhood hosts eleven public and private schools. The K Line from north-south is proposed to serve this area.

Wilshire Private School, previously called the Wilshire School, the Hankook School, and the Los Angeles Hankook Academy, was a primary and secondary school located in Koreatown, Los Angeles. It is in the Mid-City/Mid-Wilshire area. It was sponsored by the Korean Institute of Southern California (KISC, 남가주한국학원/南加州韓國學院). Its primary target students were Korean Americans. In 1994, the principal, John Regan, stated that Hankook School was the only educational facility that targeted Korean students in the United States.On August 2018, the school closed its doors and ceased due to lack of fundings and enrollments. This closure marked Wilshire Elementary School's 33rd year of service.

Wilshire Tower is a nine-story tower at 5514 Wilshire Boulevard on the Miracle Mile in the city of Los Angeles. It was designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood, who was also the architect of the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, the North Rim lodge at the Grand Canyon, and the federal courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. The style of the building combines two Art Deco variations: Zigzag Moderne and Streamline Moderne. It was the earliest significant structure in the neighborhood and helped the founder of Miracle Mile, A. W. Ross, bring more stores and offices to the area. The Los Angeles Conservancy describes the building as"an eight-story Zigzag Moderne rectangle of offices that vaulted skyward from a wide Streamline Moderne base, a striking and optimistic structure that helped set the architectural standard for Wilshire Boulevard. The lobby featured fourteen-karat gold ceiling detailing; the sidewalk display windows were trimmed in rich black and red granite. Desmond's and Silverwoods department stores based in Downtown Los Angeles, opened branch stores in each of the respective the ground floor wings. Much of the tower space was rented by doctors and dentists for offices. Desmond's branch, at the time of opening of this branch in March 1929, was the largest men's clothing store in the Los Angeles downtown.
