Arizona State Prison Complex – Florence

Florence Correctional Center (FCC) is a medium-security prison for men in Florence, Arizona, owned by CoreCivic (formally, Corrections Corporation of America). The current contracts that the company holds at this location are U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), United States Marshal Service (USMS), and City of Mesa. Opened in 1999, the current capacity of the facility is 1824. Roughly 550 beds are for ICE detainees Nearly 1234 beds are for the Marshal Service and about 80 for the City of Mesa. In 2005, CCA contracted with the Alaska Department of Corrections to keep more than 30% of the state's inmates in FCC. Many of these Alaskans were detainees awaiting trial. Eventually this contract was finished. In 2017, the City of Mesa became the first city in Arizona to allow the private prison to house misdemeanor offenders. Of course this led to some backlash, but the city reassured citizens that this would in-fact save the city money. Approximately $2 Million per year. The city and CoreCivic agreed to 3 years. The prison is one of several state, federal and private prisons in Florence.

The Central Arizona Correctional Facility is a medium-security privately managed state prison for men located in Florence, Pinal County, Arizona, owned and operated by the GEO Group under contract with the Arizona Department of Corrections.GEO Group's predecessor firm, Correctional Services Corporation, designed and built the facility. It opened in December 2006 and has the maximum capacity of 1280 prisoners held at a medium security level.CACF should not be confused with the nearby Central Arizona Detention Center, run by Corrections Corporation of America, which houses prisoners for the United States Marshals Service, TransCor America LLC, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Pascua Yaqui Tribe government, and the United States Air Force, but does not house Arizona state prisoners.

ASP Florence West is located in Florence, Pinal County, Arizona, 65 miles east from the state capital of Phoenix, Arizona. The facility is operated by the GEO Group.ASP Florence West has an inmate capacity of approximately 775 in 2 housing dorms at security level 2. The ADC uses a score classification system to assess inmates appropriate custody and security level placement. The scores range from 1 to 5 with 5 being the highest risk or need. ASP Florence West is a secure, minimum custody private prison.

The First Presbyterian Church of Florence, at 225 East Butte Avenue in Florence, Arizona, was built in 1931. It was designed by Wallingford & Bell in Mission/Spanish Revival style. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.In 2012, the congregation had 64 members.

The Second Pinal County Courthouse, built in 1891, is an historic three-story redbrick courthouse located at Pinal and 12th streets in Florence, Pinal County, Arizona, United States. Designed by prominent Arizona architect James M. Creighton in the Late Victorian Revival style of architecture, it is Pinal County's second courthouse. It is topped by an ornate clock tower, but due to a lack of funds, the clockworks was never installed. Instead a clock was painted on it with the hands set at 11:44. Replaced in 1961 by another courthouse, it fell into disrepair and it was closed in 2005. In 2007 it was declared to be one of the most endangered historic buildings in Arizona. In January 2011, the county supervisors approved a plan to renovate the building and restore it to its former glory so that it could be used by the supervisors and other county entities. On August 2, 1978, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Harvey-Niemeyer House, in Florence, Arizona, is a one-story house built around 1874. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, as a result of a study of historic resources in the Florence area.It was built first as a T-shaped adobe house, which was probably flat-roofed, with an attached front porch and a rear frame addition, around 1874. It was renovated in 1892 with addition of a hipped roof and a veneer of fired brick on all but the rear facade. It was expanded also with a row of rooms across its rear in 1936.It was deemed significant as "an outstanding example of a local architectural type known as 'Early Transitional.' Early Transitional buildings manifest characteristics of both Sonoran and American Victorian styles. The building is also associated with two locally significant individuals: Dr. William Harvey, M.D., and Charles H. Niemeyer." It was judged to be comparable to the best examples of Early Transitional style in the National Register-listed Florence Townsite Historic District.It is located outside that district at 250 S. Main St., but when it was listed its address was 1618 Main St.It is a one-story house built of adobe around 1874. It was remodeled in 1892 and expanded in 1936. It is about 42 by 45 feet (13 m × 14 m) in plan.It was home of physician William Harvey, who became known as an "Angel of Mercy" during a smallpox epidemic. Harvey also came to address the aftermath of the 1888 Gabriel-Phy shootout. Charles Niemeyer, a later homeowner, served as a postmaster and, for 25 years, as Clerk of the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

As of 2021, the average population of inmates and detainees is 3,572. With the average stay at 108 days.

Florence High School is the high school for the town of Florence, Arizona. It is administered by the Florence Unified School District.

McFarland State Historic Park is a small historic park located in downtown Florence, Arizona on the corner of Main and Ruggles streets. The park consists of a preserved courthouse and other buildings dating to the Arizona Territory period. The original structure was built in 1878 with the addition of a jail in 1882 and the courthouse in 1891. The courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. McFarland State Historic Park commemorates Ernest McFarland (1894-1984), who was successively a US Senator, Governor of Arizona, and Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court. McFarland bought the old courthouse building in 1974, donated it to the state, and paid for its renovation. The park was opened and dedicated October 10, 1979.The park reopened in February 2011 after repairs and renovations. It had been closed because of Arizona State Parks budget cuts.

Florence (O'odham: S-auppag) is a town in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. Florence, which is the county seat of Pinal County, is one of the oldest towns in that county and includes a National Historic District with over 25 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The population of Florence was 26,785 at the 2020 census.

The Adamsville Cemetery is a historic cemetery, established by the Ancient Order of United Workmen (A.O.U.W.) in Adamsville, a ghost town in Pinal County, Arizona. The Pioneers' Cemetery Association (PCA) defines a "historic cemetery" as one which has been in existence for more than fifty years.
