Great House in Cape Ann was a seventeenth century structure built by colonists in present-day Gloucester, Massachusetts. It was later disassembled and moved to Salem, Massachusetts, to be the Governor's house.

The Witch History Museum is located in Salem, Massachusetts and features dioramas and first person narrations, including little-known information about nineteen accused "witches" that were put to death in 1692. The museum covers the hysteria surrounding the events.

Downtown Salem District is a historic district roughly bounded by Church, Central, New Derby, and Washington Streets in Salem, Massachusetts. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and represents a major expansion of the Old Town Hall Historic District, which was listed in 1972.When first listed in 1972, the district consisted of a cluster of buildings around Salem's Old Town Hall on Derby Square and Essex, Washington, and Front Streets. The Essex Street pedestrian Mall was closed off to vehicular traffic in 1976 and was made open only to pedestrians and delivery vehicles. The 1983 expansion significantly enlarged the district to encompass a significant portion of Salem's historic downtown. It includes two properties previously listed individually on the National Register: the Joshua Ward House, and City Hall, both on Washington Street.

City Hall is a historic government building located in the Downtown Salem District of Salem, Massachusetts. The Greek Revival building was constructed in 1838, designed by architect Richard Bond (1797–1861). Salem City Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. The City Council Chamber Room is located on the 2nd floor of Salem City Hall, serving as the site of bimonthly city council meetings and other regular board and commission meetings.

The Peabody Museum of Salem (1915–1992), formerly the Peabody Academy of Science (1865–1915), was a museum and antiquarian society based in Salem, Massachusetts. The academy was organized in part as a successor to the East India Marine Society (founded 1799), which had become moribund but held a large collection of maritime materials in a museum collection at the East India Marine Hall, built in 1825 on Essex Street. The Peabody Museum was merged with the Essex Institute to form the Peabody Essex Museum in 1992. The East India Marine Hall, now embedded within the latter's modern structure, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965 in recognition of this heritage, which represents the nation's oldest continuously-operating museum collection.

The Salem Laundry is a historic laundry building at 55 Lafayette Street in Salem, Massachusetts, United States. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as "Salem Landry". The building was erected in 1906 and is the first concrete building to be constructed in Salem. The four story building is divided into three wide bays, with the central bay projecting slightly. The bays have broad windows divided by ashlar-tooled concrete blocks, a styling that became fashionable in the following decade before unadorned concrete became more widely used. The building was built by, and has remained in the hands of, the Hooper family, who established a commercial laundry in Salem in 1806. It was listed on the National Register in 1983.

Bowker Place is a historic commercial building at 144–156 Essex Street in Salem, Massachusetts. Built in 1830 by William Manning, this handsome two-story Greek Revival brick building has had a significant role in the civic and economic history of Salem. It was acquired by Joel Bowker in 1844 after Manning went bankrupt. Its tenants have included banks, insurance companies, and the Salem Police Court. One prominent retailer who began operations in this building was William Filene, founder of the Filene's department store chain.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It is immediately adjacent to portions of the Downtown Salem District.

The Joshua Ward House is a historic house in Salem, Massachusetts. The three-story Federal style brick house, built in 1784, is one of the first brick houses in Salem. Its interior woodwork was done by noted Salem builder and woodworker Samuel McIntire, including an original staircase that is the oldest surviving staircase created by him. George Washington is reported to have specifically requested staying in this house when he visited Salem in 1789.The building has an austere brick exterior laid in Flemish bond. Its four chimneys were damaged by storms in its early years, and again in the 1938 New England Hurricane. The house was used in the 19th century as a tavern. It was built on the same site as the former home of Sheriff George Corwin, famously associated with the Salem witch trials.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and included in the Downtown Salem District in 1983.In 2015 it was turned into a hotel.

The Rufus Choate House is a historic house at 14 Lynde Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It is primarily recognized for its association with lawyer and Federalist Party politician Rufus Choate (1799-1859), who lived here from about 1825 to 1834. It is a three-story Federal style wood-frame house that was built in 1805 by Ebenezer Beckford, a Salem merchant and real estate developer. Beckford, and later his same-named son, owned the property until 1841.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The John Ward House is a National Historic Landmark at 9 Brown Street in Salem, Massachusetts, United States. With an early construction history between 1684 and 1723, it is an excellent example of First Period architecture, and as the subject of an early 20th-century restoration by antiquarian George Francis Dow, it is an important example of the restoration techniques. Now owned by the Peabody Essex Museum, it is also one of the first colonial-era houses in the United States to be opened as a museum. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1968.

The Bessie Monroe House (also ''Munroe'') is a historic house at 7 Ash Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It is notable as a good example of a Federal style house, and for its survival from planned demolition during Salem's urban renewal of the area in the 1970s. The house, a modest two story brick house located just north of Salem's downtown, was built in 1811 for Thomas Perkins, a local merchant whose brother was its first occupant. When the city began urban renewal planning for the area in the 1960s, the building was occupied by an elderly lady named Bessie Monroe. Out of concerns for her health the city allowed her to remain in the property after its taking, and proceeded with plans that included the demolition of many surrounding properties. However, the delay occasioned by her occupation until her death in 1971 was accompanied by a shift in attitude in the city toward restoring such properties, and it was eventually sold to owners prepared to rehabilitate the property.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The Charter Street Historic District encompasses a small remnant of the oldest part of Salem, Massachusetts that has since been surrounded by more modern development. It includes three properties on Charter Street: the Pickman House, the Grimshawe House, and the Charter Street Cemetery, or Central Burying Point. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
