The Ballard Bridge, also known as the 15th Avenue Bridge, is a double-leaf bascule bridge in Seattle, Washington. It carries 15th Avenue NW over Seattle's Salmon Bay between Ballard to the north and Interbay to the south. The Ballard Bridge follows the Fremont Bridge in the east in the succession of bridges spanning the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which connects Lake Washington in the east to Puget Sound in the west. Built in 1917, it has an opening span of 218 ft (66 m) and a total length of 2,854 ft (870 m). The approaches of the bridge were originally timber trestles. It also carried a streetcar. In 1939, the timber approach spans of the Ballard Bridge were replaced as a Public Works Administration project. The deck was surfaced with concrete and the rails for the streetcar were removed. In 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.In recent years bicyclists have complained that improvements are needed to address safety concerns.

The Ballard Terminal Railroad Company LLC (reporting mark BDTL) operates two Class III short line terminal railroads in western Washington, United States. Founded in 1997 to operate a three-mile spur through Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, the Ballard Terminal Railroad has expanded to operate two additional lines in the Puget Sound area, including Eastside Freight Railroad (reporting mark EFRX) from Snohomish to Woodinville, Washington, and Meeker Southern Railroad (reporting mark MSN), a 5 mi (8.0 km) segment from East Puyallup ("Meeker") to McMillin, Washington. Eastside Freight Railroad has ceased operation as of mid 2020.

The Walrus and the Carpenter is a restaurant and oyster bar in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, in the U.S. state of Washington. In 2022, the restaurant received a James Beard Foundation Award nomination in the Outstanding Restaurant category, and was named one of the city's best seafood restaurants by Seattle Metropolitan.

Fishermen's Terminal is a dock opened in 1914 and operated by the Port of Seattle as the home port for Seattle's commercial fishing fleet, and, since 2002, non-commercial pleasure craft. The Terminal is on Salmon Bay in the Interbay neighborhood, east of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks and immediately west of the Ballard Bridge. The Terminal has freshwater mooring for fishing vessels and pleasure craft up to 250 ft (76 m) length. Preference is given to commercial fishing vessels. It serves more than 700 vessels. A public access float provides free moorage for up to four hours for visitors. The facility also includes 227,000 square feet (21,100 m2) of office, retail, restaurant, light industry and warehouse space. There are two restaurants, a seafood market, a bookstore and a gift shop. Fisherman's Terminal is home to some of the vessels in the Discovery Channel TV series Deadliest Catch. It was also the topic of a documentary film Fishermen's Terminal. The documentary centers on the conflict between the moorage needs of the fishing fleet and pleasure boaters.The Seattle Fishermen's Memorial faces the water between the docks and the Terminal building. It is bronze and stone sculpture with plaques memorializing more than 670 local commercial fishermen and women who have been lost at sea since the beginning of the 20th century. The memorial is managed by its own non-profit organization. Since 1988, the Terminal has hosted the annual Fishermen's Fall Festival for the return of the North Pacific fishing fleet.

Salmon Bay is a portion of the Lake Washington Ship Canal, which passes through the city of Seattle, linking Lake Washington to Puget Sound, lying west of the Fremont Cut. It is the westernmost section of the canal and empties into Puget Sound's Shilshole Bay. Because of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, the smaller, western half of the bay is salt water, and the eastern half is fresh water (though not without saline contamination: see Lake Union). Before the construction of the Ship Canal, Salmon Bay was entirely salt water. East of the locks, Salmon Bay is spanned by the Ballard Bridge, a bascule bridge that carries 15th Avenue traffic between Ballard and Interbay. West of the locks, it is spanned by the Salmon Bay Bridge that carries the BNSF Railway railroad tracks between Ballard and Magnolia.

Fire Station No. 18 (also known as the Ballard Firehouse) was a fire station located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is now used as a nightclub and music venue.

Seattle Fishermen's Memorial, or Fisherman's Memorial, is an outdoor sculpture by Ronald Petty, installed at Fishermen's Terminal in Seattle, Washington, in the United States. The monument was designed in 1987 and dedicated in October 1988. It commemorates Seattle fisherman who died since 1900.

Washington's 36th legislative district is one of forty-nine districts in Washington state for representation in the state legislature. It encompasses part of northwestern Seattle, including the neighborhoods of Ballard, Magnolia, and Queen Anne. The district's legislators are state senator Reuven Carlyle and state representatives Noel Frame (position 1) and Liz Berry (position 2), all Democrats.

The Ballard Avenue Historic District is a section of downtown Ballard in Seattle, Washington, that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 (ID #76001885). The district consists of Ballard Avenue N.W. between N.W. Market Street and N.W. Dock Place, and is located near to and along Salmon Bay. After initial work by the Ballard Avenue Association and the city of Seattle's Urban Conservation Division, Seattle mayor Wes Uhlman signed the ordinances that led to the national recognition of the area. The neighborhood of Ballard is known for a large historic population and presence of immigrants from Sweden, and King Gustaf of Sweden read the proclamation inducting the district to the historical registry in 1976, and at the same time dedicated the new bell tower at Ballard's Marvin's Garden Park, which housed the original bell from Ballard's old city hall. The historic markers that can be seen on 26 of the buildings were created and erected by the Ballard Historical Society.All the commercial buildings in the historic district face towards Ballard Avenue. Other locations in Ballard that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places include the old Ballard Carnegie Library on N.W. Market Street, the Ballard Bridge, Fire Station No. 18, the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, and the Lake Washington Ship Canal.

The Ravenna-Cowen North Historic District is a historic district in Seattle that gained recognition on the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 2018. Encompassing an area bounded by NE 65th Street, Ravenna Ravine, Ravenna and Cowen parks, and 12th Avenue NE, the neighborhood is notable for its diverse 20th-century residential architectural styles and its integration of nature with urban living.
