The Upham's Corner Market is an historic commercial building at 600 Columbia Road in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. It is actually three separate buildings built c. 1919, 1923, and 1926. They were built by brothers John and Paul Cifrino, who were Italian immigrants. They established a small neighborhood grocery store in 1915, before building this series of buildings to house what became an early supermarket. After the third section was built, the store had 50,000 square feet (4,600 m2) of space, and was the largest store of its kind in the city, serving a nearby population of more than 250,000. The buildings have been converted to mixed commercial and residential use.The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Dorchester North Burying Ground (or "First Burying Ground in Dorchester") is a historic graveyard at Stoughton Street and Columbia Road in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The burial ground was established in 1634, as the front sign reads and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and was designated as a Boston Landmark by the Boston Landmarks Commission in 1981. The burying Ground is surrounded by a wall of concrete, with cut-out sections containing iron fencing along Columbia Road, which replaced a 19th-century decorative iron and granite fence. The original gates still provide entrance and are signified by large commemorative bronze tablets placed by the city in 1883. The site contains over 1200 markers, many of early Dorchester settlers.

Uphams Corner, or Upham's Corner, is a commercial center in Dorchester, the largest neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The intersection of Dudley Street/Stoughton Street and Columbia Road is the heart of Uphams Corner, and one of Dorchester's main business districts. It is served by the MBTA Commuter Rail's Fairmount Line (at the Upham's Corner stop, as well as several MBTA bus lines. The district has several historical sites, including the Strand Theatre, the Columbia Square Masonic Hall Building (1895), and Dorchester North Burying Ground (1634), one of the nation's oldest and one of seven seventeenth-century burying grounds in Boston. The Uphams Corner business district is part of the North Dorchester section of Boston, home to a diverse mix of people, including African American, Cape Verdean, Haitian, Hispanic, white, and Asian populations. Of the residents living within a mile of Uphams Corner, about 43% are Black, 22% white, and 19% Hispanic. Dining options in the area include Southern soul food as well as restaurants serving food from around the world, including Cape Verdean, Caribbean, Chinese, Greek, and Italian.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church is a parish of the Episcopal Church (United States), noted for its historic church at 14–16 Cushing Avenue in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1847, it remains an active congregation of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts. The first church building, on Bowdoin Street, burned down in 1887, prompting the formation of St. Mark's Church and the building of the current structure. Designed by the English architect Henry Vaughan, the Tudor Revival church building was built in 1888. In 1893 it was expanded in a matching style with the addition of transepts and the chancel by architects Hartwell & Richardson. The parish house was designed by Charles K. Cummings and built in 1907. The church contains a high-quality collection of stained glass windows, including the work of Tiffany Studios and Charles Jay Connick.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Services are held on Sundays at 9am, 11am and 1pm (in Spanish, not on first Sundays). One of the oldest food pantries in the area is located in the church.

Strand Theatre is a restored vaudeville house located in Uphams Corner in Dorchester, Boston, Massachusetts. It is owned by the City of Boston and managed by the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture.

Pilgrim Congregational Church is a historic church building at 540-544 Columbia Road in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The brick Romanesque Revival building was built 1890–1893 to a design by Worcester architect Stephen C. Earle. The congregation for which it was built was established in 1862; this was its second purpose-built church. The congregation was divided when the Romsey Congregational Church was established in 1893 to serve congregants living closer to Savin Hill; the two congregations were reunited in 1930, and stained glass windows from the Romsey Church were installed in this building.The Pilgrim Church was subjected to a severely damaging fire in October 1970. Although it was restricted to the sanctuary, there was extensive water and smoke damage, and five stained glass windows (including the three from the Romsey Church) were destroyed. The congregation decided to rebuild the main sanctuary as a multipurpose fellowship hall, and now worships in the chapel.The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

The Dudley Terrace–Dudley Street Historic District is a historic district encompassing a cluster of four multifamily brick buildings in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Centered on the junction of Dudley Street and Virginia Avenue, the area was developed in the mid-1890s, and includes good examples of Queen Anne and Renaissance Revival architecture. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2022.

The James Blake House is the oldest surviving house in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The house was built in 1661 and the date was confirmed by dendrochronology in 2007. Dorchester Atheneum. Retrieved on 2017-09-13. It is located at 735 Columbia Road, in Edward Everett Square, and just a block from Massachusetts Avenue. The Dorchester Historical Society now owns the building and tours are given on the third Sunday of the month.

Edward Everett Square, in Dorchester, Boston, is the intersection of Columbia Road, Massachusetts Avenue, East Cottage Street and Boston Street, that was named in 1894 after a former governor of Massachusetts, Edward Everett, who was born near there.In 1995 efforts were undertaken by the local community to redevelop the square, with major milestones being completed in 2007. On June 16, 2007, Mayor Thomas M. Menino dedicated the new square marking the completion of the current phase of the project. The centerpiece of the project, a statue by Laura Baring-Gould of a giant Clapp Pear (a variety of pear that was developed in Dorchester in the nineteenth century) now sits at the corner of East Cottage Street and Columbia Road.

A statue of politician, diplomat, and orator Edward Everett by William Wetmore Story is installed in Boston's Richardson Park, in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.

The William Monroe Trotter House is a historic house at 97 Sawyer Avenue, atop Jones Hill in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston. It was the home of African-American journalist and civil rights activist William Monroe Trotter (1872–1934). He and his wife Geraldine Louise Pindell moved into the two-story wood-frame home when they were married in June 1899. The house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976 for its association with Trotter, whose activism was influential in the founding of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The Museum of Bad Art (MOBA) is a privately owned museum whose stated aim is "to celebrate the labor of artists whose work would be displayed and appreciated in no other forum". It was originally in Dedham, Massachusetts and is currently in Boston, Massachusetts. Its permanent collection includes over 700 pieces of "art too bad to be ignored", 25 to 35 of which are on public display at any one time.MOBA was founded in 1994, after antique dealer Scott Wilson showed a painting he had recovered from the trash to some friends, who suggested starting a collection. Within a year, receptions held in Wilson's friends' home were so well-attended that the collection needed its own viewing space. The museum then moved to the basement of a theater in Dedham. Explaining the reasoning behind the museum's establishment, co-founder Jerry Reilly said in 1995: "While every city in the world has at least one museum dedicated to the best of art, MOBA is the only museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting the worst." To be included in MOBA's collection, works must be original and have serious intent, but they must also have significant flaws without being boring; curators are not interested in displaying deliberate kitsch. MOBA has been mentioned in dozens of off-the-beaten-path guides to Boston, featured in international newspapers and magazines, and has inspired several other collections throughout the world that set out to rival its own visual atrocities. Deborah Solomon of The New York Times Magazine noted that the attention the Museum of Bad Art receives is part of a wider trend of museums displaying "the best bad art". The museum has been criticized for being anti-art, but the founders deny this, responding that its collection is a tribute to the sincerity of the artists who persevered with their art despite something going horribly wrong in the process. According to co-founder Marie Jackson, "We are here to celebrate an artist's right to fail, gloriously."
