The Los Angeles County Probation Department provides services for those placed on probation within Los Angeles County, California. Cal Remington is the current interim chief probation officer. The department is the largest probation department in the world.

The Columbia Memorial Space Center (CMSC) is a science museum in the Los Angeles area, at 12400 Columbia Way, City of Downey, California, US. It is owned and operated by Downey, and open to the general public as a hands-on space museum and activity center.

The Downey Studios was a production studio in Downey, California. The studio featured 320,000 square metres (79 acres) of indoor and outdoor production space including a 4,600-square-metre (50,000 sq ft) building and a 23,000 square metres (250,000 sq ft) building which was home of the largest indoor water tank in North America. A suburban residential street backlot built especially for Christmas with the Kranks, with 5 complete homes and 11 facades, was also available at the studio. The studios were created out of the former Rockwell International plant where the Space Shuttle orbiters as well as some vehicles for the Apollo space program were assembled. The studios occupied only a portion of the former plant with the Downey Landing shopping complex, a Kaiser Permanente hospital, a park, and Columbia Memorial Space Center museum taking up the remainder of the space. In October 2012 demolition of Downey Studios had begun. The Promenade at Downey retail power center is located on the site today.

Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Downey is a Swaminarayan Hindu temple in Downey. It comes under the Laxmi Narayan Dev Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. In 2009, the temple celebrated its 9th anniversary with a Ram Katha, Maha Vishnu Yagna and Maruti Yagna in the presence of Rakeshprasad.

The Promenade at Downey is a 77-acre (31 ha) 656,000-square-foot (60,900 m2) retail power center in Downey, California, built on the 1,500,000-square-foot (140,000 m2) mixed-use development on the site of the former Downey Studios, which before that was the site of a Boeing/NASA industrial complex, originally built in 1948 by North American Aviation. The original name that was to be given to the center was "Tierra Luna Marketplace".Anchors include Walmart, Cinemark multicinema, Burlington, ULTA Beauty, Five Below, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods. There are signed walks on the property with information about the site's history in relation to film and to aerospace.The Promenade is immediately adjacent to Downey Landing, another power center built on the northernmost 34 acres of the aerospace site, anchored by Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, DSW Shoe Warehouse, Bally Total Fitness, PetSmart, Pier 1 Imports, and Staples. Also adjacent are Kaiser Permanente Downey hospital (built on 30 acres of the site) and the Columbia Memorial Space Center.

St. John Bosco High School (SJBHS) is a Catholic, all-boys college preparatory high school located in Bellflower, California, and conducted by the San Francisco Province of the Salesians of St. John Bosco. St. John Bosco High School is named after Saint John Bosco, an Italian saint known for his dedication to educating and advocating for youth and for his "Home-School-Church-Playground" model of education. Bosco was founded as an elementary and intermediate boarding school in 1940. The first high school class graduated in 1956, and in 1979 the boarding school closed.

Space Shuttle Inspiration is a full-scale Space Shuttle mockup built in 1972 by North American Rockwell. The plastic and wood model was made to promote the company's bid to construct the Space Shuttle fleet.

Pius X High School (Pius X) was a co-educational, private, four year (grade levels 9-12) high school located at 7851 Gardendale Street, in the city of Downey, California. The school was founded in 1953, and named for St. Pope Pius X.

Paramount/Rosecrans is a planned elevated light rail station in the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system. It is located at the intersection of Paramount Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue in Paramount, California and is part of the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor project. The segment of the corridor is expected to begin operations in 2035.The station is located adjacent to the former Pacific Electric West Santa Ana Branch Clearwater stop, later renamed to Paramount.

Earl Warren High School, is a public secondary school located in Downey, California (United States). Warren High School enrolls students in grades 9-12 and is a part of the Downey Unified School District.

I-105/C Line station is a proposed infill light rail transfer station in the Los Angeles Metro Rail system. It is located near Century Boulevard above Interstate 105 in Paramount, California and is part of the West Santa Ana Branch Transit Corridor project. A new infill station for a C Line transfer. The segment of the corridor is expected to begin operations in 2035.
