146 East 38th Street is a historic house located between Lexington and Third avenues in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Constructed from 1860 to 1861, it is one of the few intact Italianate brownstone rowhouses in Manhattan. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

The George S. Bowdoin Stable is a historic building located at 149 East 38th Street between Lexington and Third avenues in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Designed by Ralph S. Townsend, the structure was originally constructed in 1902 as a private horse stable for William R. H. Martin. Over the years, it has accommodated a variety of other uses, including a garage, private residence, art gallery, cultural center, and office. The structure's two-and-a-half-story-tall façade is made of red brick and stone. The façade is decorated with stone quoins, horses' heads, and bulldog motifs. The interior was originally divided into stables on the first floor and coachmen's quarters on the second floor. Over the years, the interior has been modified into a two-and-a-half bedroom house with design features such as high ceilings and skylights.

It is made with pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, roast turkey, salami, lettuce, tomatoes, and Russian dressing. It is one of only a few delis in the United States that makes rolled beef.After a 2012 three-alarm grease fire, the restaurant was closed until 2014 for 15 months. Andrew Wengrover, a fourth-generation owner, oversaw the reopening.Sarge's appeared in Season 8 and Season 11 of the Food Paradise television series, which aired in 2016 and 2017, respectively. The restaurant also served as the filming location for the 1990 documentary film My Dinner With Abbie starring Abbie Hoffman.

The Allerton 39th Street House, now Pod 39, is a hotel at 145 East 39th Street between Lexington and Third avenues in the Murray Hill neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. The building, completed in 1918 as a men-only club hotel, was designed for the Allerton Company by Arthur Loomis Harmon. It subsequently served as a single room occupancy residence for women run by the Salvation Army from 1956 to 2007. Since 2012, the building has operated as the Pod 39 hotel. The Allerton 39th Street House is a New York City designated landmark. The building is variously cited as 15 or 17 stories high and is designed in the Northern Italian Renaissance style. To keep the cost of the building economical, Harmon decided to use inexpensive red brick for the façade with architectural terracotta decorations. Harmon designed the upper stories of the structure as an exposed tower visible from all directions, which was topped by a roof garden and penthouse. The public areas in the building were also designed in the Italian Renaissance style and originally consisted of a two-story lounge, a small lobby, and an office. The upper stories have included bedrooms ever since the building's opening. Over the years, both the public and private areas have been redesigned.

The district, one of the smallest in New York City, encompasses the entire alley, which consists of 10 two-story brick stables built in 1863-1864 in the early Romanesque Revival style. The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission designated Sniffen Court as a city historic district on June 21, 1966, and the district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 28, 1973.

It was later converted to accommodate commercial uses and has been designated as a landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.
