Central Baptist Church (Miami, Florida)

The Security Building is a historic site in Miami, Florida. It is located at 117 Northeast 1st Avenue. On January 4, 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building has 16 floors with a height of 225 feet (69 m) and was built from 1926 to 1927.

The Old U.S. Post Office and Courthouse is a historic courthouse in Miami, Florida. It is located at 100-118 Northeast 1st Avenue. Constructed over three years (1912–14), it was designed by Kiehnel and Elliott and Oscar Wenderoth. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on January 4, 1989. The Miami-Dade County Tax Records say this building was built in 1917 .In August, 1914, the Miami Weather Bureau Office was relocated from the Bank of Bay Biscayne Building to the third floor of the old federal building. Weather instruments were installed on the roof of the building. Richard Gray (1874-1960) was the Official-in-Charge. It was from this location that the warnings from the Weather Bureau Central Office in Washington were disseminated for the Great Miami Hurricane of 1926 and the Okeechobee Hurricane of 1928. The Miami Weather Bureau Office remained on the third floor from 1914 to 1929, although the weather instruments were moved to the Seybold Building in 1927. Dr. William Homer Walker created First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Miami in 1933, when he acquired the first federal savings and loan charter ever issued in the United States. The original name of the institution was the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Miami. Because it had outgrown two former locations, Walker purchased the abandoned Miami Post Office and Federal Court Building in May 1937 to house his savings and loan. In 1973 the bank moved to the thirty-two story First Federal Building, later known as the AmeriFirst Building and now known as One Downtown, at One Southeast 3rd Avenue in downtown Miami.

The Ralston Building, now known as the Carrion Jewelry Center, is a historic building located in Downtown Miami. At the time of its completion in 1917, the eight story building was the tallest building in Miami, a title it held for less than one year when it was surpassed by the McAllister Hotel, built later in 1917. In 2001, it was purchased by First & First Investments, a company owned by local jeweler Juan Perez-Carrion. He purchased the building as the headquarters for Carrion Jewelry Manufacturing. Over the course of 3 years he restored the dilapidated building to its former grandeur. The building is located at 40 Northeast 1st Avenue and is now used for office space.

The Downtown Miami Historic District is a U.S. historic district (designated as such on December 6, 2005) located in the Central Business District of Downtown Miami, Florida. The district is bounded by Miami Court, North Third Street, West Third Avenue, and South Second Street. It contains 60 historic buildings. A large portion the buildings in the historic district were built during the Florida land boom of the 1920s, when Miami experienced rapid population growth. Many of the older structures from before the 1920s, were smaller scale buildings and homes from the Miami pioneer era of the mid and late-19th century. Palm Cottage, built in 1897 is a home from the pioneer era that is still standing, however, few of these original homes remain.

The Gesu Church is a historic Roman Catholic church in Miami, Florida. It is located at 118 Northeast 2nd Street. On July 18, 1974, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The church was built in 1896 and is the oldest Catholic Church in Miami.

The Shoreland Arcade (also known as the Dade Federal Savings) is a historic site in Miami, Florida. It is located at 120 Northeast 1st Street. On January 4, 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building opened in 1925.

The Hahn Building is a historic site in Miami, Florida, United States. It is located at 140 Northeast 1st Avenue. On January 4, 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building was built in 1921, and was designed by Gerald Joseph O'Reilly and George L. Pfeiffer.

The Meyer–Kiser Building (also known as the Dade Commonwealth Building) is a historic U.S. building in Miami, Florida. It was built in 1925, the same year the Dade County Courthouse began construction. It is located at 139 NE 1st street. On January 4, 1999, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building was once one of the tallest in Miami, and Dade County, completed the same year as the Freedom Tower, but was badly damaged during the 1926 Miami hurricane, and it was reduced from 17 to 7 stories. In 2015, new owners announced a plan to restore the building close to its original design. It didn't happen as of 2023.

Over 92,000 people work in Miami's Central Business District.The Central Business District is generally bound by Biscayne Boulevard, Bayfront Park and Museum Park on the east, the Miami River to the south, North 6th Street to the north, and Interstate 95 to the west. While it is technically Miami's official "downtown", the term "Downtown Miami" has come to refer to a much larger 3.8-square-mile (10 km2) area along the bay from the Rickenbacker Causeway to the Julia Tuttle Causeway. It is also distinct from the financial district, which neighbors Brickell to the south. The Central Business District of Miami has over 5,000,000 square feet (460,000 m2) of office space, including more than fifteen buildings with greater than 100,000 sq ft (9,300 m2) of floor space.

The Alfred I. DuPont Building is a historic building in Miami, Florida. It is located at 169 East Flagler Street. Started in 1937 and completed in 1939, it is a 17-story rectangular building in the Modern style with Art Deco embellishments. It was the first skyscraper built after the County courthouse and the bust of 1928. Thus it represents Miami's emergence from the great depression. It replaced the Halcyon Hotel on this site. On January 4, 1989, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.Alfred I. DuPont was the owner of the Florida National Bank, the principal tenant of the building. Major tenants in 2023 are Bench jewelers who use a combination of skills to make and repair jewelry. Some of the more common skills that a bench jeweler might employ include antique restoration, silversmithing, goldsmithing, stone setting, engraving, fabrication, wax carving, lost-wax casting, electroplating, forging, & polishing. manufactures & wholesale watches for Rolex & Richard Mille. The other major building in Miami is the Seybold Building for jewelry, diamonds and fine watches.

Sottile Farms was a 30,000 acre land holding in South Florida owned by the Sottile family of Miami from 1930 to 1974 and incorporated as South Dade Farms. It was created by James Sottile, an Italian-American immigrant who was one of 5 brothers who immigrated to Charleston, SC in the late nineteenth century. Sottile donated 20 acres of land on the Florida East Coast Railway tracks for the construction of the Florida City State Farmers Market in 1939. He also donated 80 acres for the South Dade Labor Camp on Campbell Drive near the air base and 1,200 acres in 1937 for the Homestead Bayfront Park. The Homestead Bayfront Park has been called "The Real South Beach".

The Congress Building, or simply the Congress Building, is a historic skyscraper in Downtown Miami, Florida, United States. It is located at the address of 111 Northeast 2nd Avenue. The Congress Building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 1985, and is locally identified a historic site in the Downtown Miami Development of Regional Impact (DRI). The Congress Building was formerly office space until 1999, when it was restored and converted to apartments. At street level, the building contains retail space which is leased to a number of stores and services including a financial establishment, The Loft condo sales center, beauty salon and café. Originally the building was five stories; the additional 16 were added on later.
