Calgary station

The Calgary Tower is a 190.8-meter (626 ft) free standing observation tower in the downtown core of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Originally called the Husky Tower, it was conceived as a joint venture between Marathon Realty Company Limited and Husky Oil as part of an urban renewal plan and to celebrate Canada's centennial of 1967. The tower was built at a cost of CA$3,500,000 and weighs approximately 10,884 tonnes, of which 60% is below ground. It opened to the public on June 30, 1968 as the tallest structure in Calgary, and the tallest in Canada outside Toronto. It was renamed the Calgary Tower in 1971. The building was a founding member of the World Federation of Great Towers.

Stephen Avenue is a major pedestrian mall in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The mall is the portion of 8 Avenue SW between 4 Street SW and 1 Street SE. It is open to vehicles only from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The street is known for some of Calgary's finest restaurants, cafés, pubs and bars. The street also provides an eclectic mix of boutiques and high-end retail. Major shopping centres include The Core Shopping Centre, (formerly Calgary Eaton Centre/TD Square), Bankers Hall, Fashion Central, Scotia Centre, and The Bay department store. The street is also home to downtown Calgary's major convention and exhibition facility, the Telus Convention Centre, and two hotels, the Hyatt Regency Calgary, which incorporates several historic buildings into its facade, and the Calgary Marriott.

The Bank & Baron is a pub and events venue in downtown Calgary, Alberta, occupying the former Bank of Nova Scotia building at 125 8 Avenue SW. The one storey main banking hall and street facade date to 1930 and stand on Stephen Avenue. The building is recognized by Alberta as a Provincial Historic Resource.

The Fairmont Palliser, formerly known as the Palliser Hotel, is a hotel of the Canada-based Fairmont Hotels and Resorts chain. The historic hotel (1914) is located in downtown Calgary, Alberta, at 133 9 Avenue SW adjacent to the Calgary Tower and Palliser Square. The Palliser is one of Calgary's oldest and most luxurious hotels.

Centre Street South is a planned and approved CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta, Canada part of the Green Line. Construction will begin in 2023 and complete in 2027 as part of construction stage one, segment 2A. The station is located in the Beltline, immediately south of downtown Calgary. The station will be located under 11 Avenue South, near Centre Street South and will have a concourse level above the platform. It will provide access to the urban community's high-density residential, commercial and retail buildings, as well as the Calgary Tower, the Central Library and the Sheldon M. Chumir Hospital. The station and the surrounding streetscape will feature Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles to mitigate crime.

One Palliser Square is a 27-story office building in the Calgary downtown core. Completed in 1970, it is 107 metres (351 feet) tall. One Palliser Square is connected to the Calgary Tower via the Tower Centre complex. Accessed from the main floor, this complex is home to a variety of businesses including two theatre companies—Vertigo Mystery Theatre's Playhouse and Studio stages and Lunchbox Theatre—Tower Physio and Calgary's theatre hangout, The Auburn Saloon. As of 2005, the building was owned and operated by Aspen Properties.

The Grand, stylized as The GRAND (formerly Sherman Grand, Showcase Grand, The Grand Theatre, and Theatre Junction GRAND), is the oldest theatre in the downtown core of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In its current incarnation, it houses and operates the 436-seat Flanagan Theatre and a rehearsal space, the Studio.

The Anglican Diocese of Calgary is a diocese of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land of the Anglican Church of Canada, located in the southern part of the civil province of Alberta. It was established in 1888. The diocesan boundaries are: on the south, the border between Alberta and the United States; on the east, the Alberta-Saskatchewan border; on the west, the Alberta-British Columbia border and on the north, an uneven east–west line drawn across the province just north of Lacombe forms the northern boundary of the Diocese of Calgary and the southern boundary of the Diocese of Edmonton. This area of about 82,000 square miles (210,000 km2) includes regions of mountain, foothills, parkland and prairie. The see city is Calgary. Other cities in the diocese are Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. There are about 9,400 Anglicans and 71 parishes in the diocese, according to the most recent figures published by the church.

The Palace Theatre is a historic building in Calgary, Alberta. It is Calgary's oldest surviving movie theatre and one of only three surviving Canadian examples of the work of American architect C. Howard Crane. Built by the Allen family, the building served as a theatre from 1921 to 1990. Located in Calgary's Stephen Avenue Mall, it operated as a nightclub from 1998 to 2004 and has been used as a sports bar and special event centre since 2007. The building was designated as a Provincial Historic Resource in 1996 and as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1997.

The Bow is a 158,000-square-metre (1,700,000 sq ft) skyscraper in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The 236 metre (774 ft) building is currently the second tallest office tower in Calgary, since construction of Cenovus' Brookfield Place; and the third tallest in Canada outside Toronto. The Bow is also considered the start of redevelopment in Calgary's Downtown East Village. It was completed in 2012 and was ranked among the top 10 architectural projects in the world of that year according to Azure magazine. It was built for oil and gas company Encana, and was the headquarters of its successors Ovintiv and Cenovus.

Arts Commons (Formerly EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts) is a multi-venue arts centre in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada, located in the Olympic Plaza Cultural District. Occupying a full city block, Arts Commons is a multi-level complex measuring over 560,000 square feet (52,000 m2). It is one of the three largest arts centres in Canada and is home to six resident companies, including Alberta Theatre Projects, Arts Commons Presents, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Downstage, One Yellow Rabbit, and Theatre Calgary. Approximately 200 community groups make use of Arts Commons facilities every year, hosting everything from annual general meetings, graduations, cultural events, weddings, and more. In addition to a variety of performance and gathering spaces, Arts Commons also houses rehearsal halls, theatre workshops, offices, meeting rooms, a café, and visual and media arts galleries.

The Olympic Plaza is an urban park and gathering place in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Located around Macleod Trail and 7 Avenue South, it was created as the venue for the medal ceremonies at the 1988 Winter Olympics. In 2004, over 30,000 people packed the plaza to celebrate the Calgary Flames' run to the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals. Olympic Plaza serves as a meeting place, and an outdoor event area, hosting concerts and festivals. In the winter, it is used as a public ice skating area. The plaza is accessible by Calgary's CTrain system at the City Hall station.
