The Olympic Plaza is an urban park and gathering place in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Located around Macleod Trail and 7 Avenue South, it was created as the venue for the medal ceremonies at the 1988 Winter Olympics. In 2004, over 30,000 people packed the plaza to celebrate the Calgary Flames' run to the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals. Olympic Plaza serves as a meeting place, and an outdoor event area, hosting concerts and festivals. In the winter, it is used as a public ice skating area. The plaza is accessible by Calgary's CTrain system at the City Hall station.

The Anglican Diocese of Calgary is a diocese of the Ecclesiastical Province of Rupert's Land of the Anglican Church of Canada, located in the southern part of the civil province of Alberta. It was established in 1888. The diocesan boundaries are: on the south, the border between Alberta and the United States; on the east, the Alberta-Saskatchewan border; on the west, the Alberta-British Columbia border and on the north, an uneven east–west line drawn across the province just north of Lacombe forms the northern boundary of the Diocese of Calgary and the southern boundary of the Diocese of Edmonton. This area of about 82,000 square miles (210,000 km2) includes regions of mountain, foothills, parkland and prairie. The see city is Calgary. Other cities in the diocese are Red Deer, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. There are about 9,400 Anglicans and 71 parishes in the diocese, according to the most recent figures published by the church.

The Burns Building is a historic six-story building located in downtown Calgary, Alberta. It sits at 237-8th Ave. S.E. on the end of Stephen Avenue overlooking Olympic Plaza and City Hall.

One Palliser Square is a 27-story office building in the Calgary downtown core. Completed in 1970, it is 107 metres (351 feet) tall. One Palliser Square is connected to the Calgary Tower via the Tower Centre complex. Accessed from the main floor, this complex is home to a variety of businesses including two theatre companies—Vertigo Mystery Theatre's Playhouse and Studio stages and Lunchbox Theatre—Tower Physio and Calgary's theatre hangout, The Auburn Saloon. As of 2005, the building was owned and operated by Aspen Properties.

Calgary City Hall (often called Old City Hall or Historic City Hall), is the seat of government for Calgary City Council, located in the city's downtown core of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The historic building completed in 1911 serves as the offices for Calgary City Council, consisting of the office of the Mayor, fourteen Councillors and municipal Clerk. Calgary City Hall originally housed the municipal council and portions of administration from its completion in 1911 until the construction of the Calgary Municipal Building adjacent to Old City Hall in 1985, which currently houses the offices of 2,000 civic administrators. Calgary City Hall is designated a National Historic Sites of Canada, as well as a Provincial Historical Resource, and Municipal Historical Resource.

Calgary was a territorial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of Northwest Territories, Canada. The riding was created by royal proclamation in 1884, and split into East Calgary, West Calgary and High River in 1894.

The district largely encompassed the boundaries of the City of Calgary, and was revised accordingly as the city grew.

The Calgary Underground Film Festival (CUFF) is a film festival held annually in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for 7 days at the Globe Cinema in downtown Calgary.Founded in 2003, Calgary Underground Film Festival is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to programming films that defy convention. Through the screening of contemporary works in various categories that include: feature, documentary, animation and shorts - CUFF brings Calgarians a unique roster of films rarely seen in North American theatres. CUFF actively looks to showcase titles in all genres, from horror, sci-fi and fantasy to comedies, thrillers and music-related films. In addition to finding great films CUFF is committed to introducing audiences to the people behind the lens, by showcasing local and international indie filmmakers. The organizers are proud to contribute to Calgary's thriving arts community and are thrilled to bring innovative and challenging selections to all film enthusiasts. CUFF currently has two annual festivals. The main Calgary Underground Film Festival runs for 7-days in mid-April; CUFF.Docs International Documentary Festival is in November. In addition, CUFF showcases special event screenings throughout the year.

The Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) is a film festival held annually in Calgary, Alberta, in late September and early October.CIFF is the largest international film festival in Alberta and the sixth largest in Canada. The Festival's mission is "to entertain and engage audiences by curating the most innovative and compelling films, and creating remarkable festival experiences".In 2020, their festival screened 180 films including the world premiere of John Ware Reclaimed, by Cheryl Foggo from the NFB.

City Hall station is a CTrain light rail station in Calgary, Alberta. It is located on the 7 Avenue transit mall between Macleod Trail and 3 Street S.E. It is the easternmost station downtown, and serves as a Gateway station. It was the first downtown station to have dual-side platforms (Downtown West–Kerby station, opened in 2012, was the second). It serves both the Red Line and the Blue Line and is the eastern extent of the free-fare zone. This new dual-platform station replaces the previous City Hall and Olympic Plaza stations both of which opened May 25, 1981, as part of Calgary's first LRT line from 8 Street W to Anderson. The original City Hall Station served only eastbound trains. The station was originally called 2 Street E. In late 1987, the station was renamed City Hall as 2 Street SE became Macleod Trail Northbound and the city did not want to call the Station Macleod Trail since it would not give a good indicator of the station's location because Macleod Trail is a long roadway traveling all the way to the very south end of the city. City Hall was chosen as the station is adjacent to the Calgary Municipal Building. The original Olympic Plaza Station was initially called 1 Street E. It was renamed Olympic Plaza in late 1987 as its namesake is right across the street. The station was located between Macleod Trail and 1 Street SE. On May 3, 2010, the original City Hall station was closed to be demolished and rebuilt on the spot, with a new westbound platform being constructed across the street, while the original Olympic Plaza station remained open. On June 6, 2011, both City Hall platforms opened and Olympic Plaza was permanently closed and demolished shortly thereafter. After the 2011 Stampede finished, the eastbound platform (South side of 7 Avenue; adjacent to Municipal Building) was re-closed to finish construction and officially re-opened on September 19, 2011. The Westbound platform (North side of 7 Avenue; adjacent to the Library) was completely finished as of June 6, 2011, and remained open. Olympic Plaza was the last of the vintage 1981 Stations on 7 Avenue to be demolished. Both of the new platforms are built to 4-car length and use the same design as all other downtown stations. Notable Locations near the station include the Calgary Municipal Building, Calgary City Hall, Arts Commons, Calgary Central Library, Bow Valley College and Olympic Plaza. Also, the United States Consulate Office is located at nearby Rocky Mountain Plaza across from Olympic Plaza (and also beside where the now-demolished station of the same name used to stand). The station registered an average of 9,700 and 11,800 weekday boardings in 2005 (for City Hall and Olympic Plaza respectively).

Calgary School District No. 19 or the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is the public school board in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As a public system, the CBE is required to accept any students who meet age and residency requirements, regardless of religion. Calgary Board of Education (CBE) was founded in 1885 as the Calgary Protestant Public School District No. 19.
