The Villa Merian, with its English Garden, stands on the elevated plain above Brüglingen in Münchenstein, in the canton of Basel-Country in Switzerland.

The arena originally had capacity for 9,000 people and was opened in September 1976. It is the home of the Swiss Indoors men's tennis tournament. The building has different sized halls and rooms, which are used for all types of events. Each year, the world's elite badminton players gather for their international grand prix tournament and the best European Sepak takraw players meet.

The Battle of St. Jakob an der Birs was fought between the Old Swiss Confederacy and French (mostly Armagnac) mercenaries, on the banks of the river Birs. The battle took place on 26 August 1444 and was part of the Old Zürich War. The site of the battle was near Münchenstein, Switzerland, just over 1 km outside the city walls of Basel, today within Basel's St-Alban district.

The 12+24 Hour Race Basel is an Ultramarathon race in Basel, Switzerland. The run takes place annually in May, organized by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. It is held on the Sports Facilities St. Jakob on a 1.1 kilometer route (0.68 miles).

Basel Dreispitz railway station (German: Bahnhof Basel Dreispitz) is a railway station in the city of Basel, in the Swiss canton of Basel-Stadt. It is an intermediate stop on the Basel–Biel/Bienne line and is served by local trains only. The station was built in 2005 despite numerous objections from local residents and was opened in May 2006. In 2008 the station was awarded a Brunel Award by the Watford Group. It offers transfer possibilities on tram lines of Baselland Transport as well as bus lines of the same company and the Basler Verkehrs-Betriebe.

The St. Jakob Stadium was a football stadium in Basel, Switzerland and the former home of Swiss club FC Basel. It was built in 1954, and as well as serving as a club stadium, it hosted several important matches, including the 1954 FIFA World Cup matches and four European Cup Winners' Cup finals. Tickets and posters for a planned Madonna concert on 31 August 1987, were printed, but the event never materialised, because of failed negotiations between Madonna's management and the Swiss concert promoter. A gig in Nice, France was instead organised for that date. The Rolling Stones performed here on 15 July 1982 on their European Tour, 26 June 1990 as part on their Urban Jungle Tour and July 29-30 1995 as part of their Voodoo Lounge Tour. Pink Floyd performed here on 26 July 1988 as part of their A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour and on 6 and 7 August 1994 as part of their The Division Bell Tour. Van Halen performed here in September 5, 1988 as part of their OU812 Tour. AC/DC performed here on 25 August 1991 with Metallica, Queensryche and Mötley Crüe on their Monsters of Rock festival. Tina Turner performed here 5 times during her Break Every Rule Tour on 27 June 1987, Foreign Affair: The Farewell Tour on 16 and 17 June 1990, What's Love? Tour on 3 September 1993, Wildest Dreams Tour on 5 July 1996. Michael Jackson performed in front of 50,000 people during his Bad World Tour in 16 June 1988. Actress Elizabeth Taylor and singer Bob Dylan attended the show. Jackson planned a Dangerous World Tour concert in Basel on 11 September 1992 but the show was cancelled because the singer was ill. Jackson performed in Basel his last Swiss concert on 25 July 1997 in front of over 48,000 people during his HIStory World Tour. The St. Jakob-Park has been built in its place. It was nicknamed "Joggeli" by Basel supporters.

St. Jakob-Park (Swiss Standard German: [zaŋkt ˈjaːkɔb ˈpark] (listen)) is a Swiss sports stadium in Basel. It is the largest football venue in Switzerland and home to FC Basel. "Joggeli", as the venue is nicknamed by the locals, was originally built with a capacity of 33,433 seats. The capacity was increased to 42,500 for Euro 2008, which was hosted by Austria and Switzerland. After the tournament, a number of seats were removed, thus creating more space between them. The capacity was therefore reduced to 38,512 for Swiss Super League matches or 37,500 seats for international matches The maximum capacity for concerts is 40,000. The stadium is named after the village of St. Jakob an der Birs, which stood on the site. The name "Joggeli" is the diminutive of "Jakob" in the local dialect, making it the equivalent of "Jake".

The Schaulager is a museum in Newmünchenstein, a sub-district of Münchenstein in the canton of Basel-Country, Switzerland. Built in 2002/2003 under commission of the Laurenz Foundation, it was designed by the renowned architectural office of Herzog & de Meuron, the Schaulager opened in 2003. The Schaulager was conceived as an open warehouse that provides the optimal spatial and climatic conditions for the preservation of works of art. The institution functions as a mix between public museum, art storage facility and art research institute. It is primarily directed at a specialist audience but is also open to the general public for special events and the annual exhibitions. The special annual exhibitions to date are: 2003: Roth-Zeit.
