Arcadia is a neighborhood in the areas of Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona. It is bounded 44th Street to 68th Street and Camelback Road to the canal. Arcadia contains well-kept homes on large lots; these homes command relatively high property values (as the neighborhood is adjacent to the upscale suburbs of Paradise Valley, the Biltmore area, Scottsdale and north Phoenix). Built on former citrus groves, Arcadia is known for well-irrigated, mature landscaping. Several yards prominently feature orange, lemon and grapefruit trees as reminders of the area's past; the area used to be occupied by citrus farmers from 1919 to the mid-1950s. In the mid-1950s, the rest of Phoenix caught up with the farms and the area suburbanized with characteristic ranch homes on large lots. Arcadia High School serves and derives its name from the neighborhood. Arcadia is frequently listed as the top place to live in all of Phoenix Metro due to its ideal location for both work and fun, vibrant food / culture, walk-ability, and plush landscape. It is also just south of the desired hiking destinations of Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak. Much of Phoenix's cycling scene pedals through this neighborhood, as Campbell / Lafayette is one of the main Phoenix cycling corridors. The 2010 film Everything Must Go starring Will Ferrell takes place in Arcadia.

The David and Gladys Wright House is a Frank Lloyd Wright residence built in 1952 in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona. It has historically been listed with an address of 5212 East Exeter Boulevard, but currently has an entrance on the 4500 block of North Rubicon Avenue. There currently is no public access to the house. This 2,500-square-foot concrete-block house was designed and built for the architect's son David and his wife, Gladys, and is situated among orange groves on a site facing north toward Camelback Mountain. The house has a spiral design to cool the house by capturing the wind. Though it has been claimed that the spiral ramp anticipated the design of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Guggenheim plan predates the design of the house, and Wright designed several buildings with spiral ramps beginning as early as the 1920s.David and Gladys Wright lived in the house until their deaths. David died in 1997 at the age of 102; Gladys died in 2008 at age 104. Gladys left the house to granddaughters who sold it. The new buyer in turn sold it to a real estate developer, 8081 Meridian, who planned to demolish the house and develop its 2.2 acre lot. Efforts to protect the building through a heritage designation were begun in August 2012. The house was purchased by a Delaware LLC, and the owner intends to transfer the property to a non-profit foundation, the David and Gladys Wright House Foundation. On June 8, 2017, the 150th anniversary of Frank's birth, the home's owner, Zach Rawling, decided to donate the home to the School of Architecture at Taliesin, formerly known as the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. He had hoped the house would be used as a living laboratory for architecture students. In June 2018 the deal was called off and the house was placed on the market in September for $12.9 million. It was announced on August 17, 2020 that the Wright house was sold for US$7.25 million to Benson Botsford LLC:The buyers include architects Bing Hu and Wenchin Shi. They served as architectural apprentices at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. They plan on personally restoring the Wright House including installing a new copper roof which was part of Frank Lloyd Wright’s original plan. Jim Benson, former chairman and CEO of John Hancock, serves as CEO of Benson Botsford LLC. Benson and Hu were also recently elected to serve on the board the School of Architecture at Taliesin (formerly the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture).On January 28, 2022, the Wright house was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Royal Palms Resort and Spa is a historic hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. It was built in Spanish Colonial style in 1929 as a retirement home for New York businessman Delos Cooke, who died unexpectedly in 1931, and his wife. It opened as a hotel in 1948.It is a member of the Historic Hotels of America program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.The hotel's mahogany front doors are original. It has an almost-unique imported Spanish tile mural called the "Lady of Spain". Its Mansion Courtyard has 24 tiles in its archways, each representing a Spanish province; these are also original to the estate. The resort has almost 200 examples of palm trees, in 14 varieties.The 1992 TV movie Sunstroke, with Don Ameche (in his last TV role) and Jane Seymour, was filmed at Royal Palms. Seymour's character, after a bitter divorce, sought to regain custody of her daughter in a film noir journey; Ameche played a Scottsdale motel manager.There are 24 fountains, and 73 fireplaces (some inside guest rooms), and 193 palm trees.The resort was sold for $88.25 million in 2016.The resort finished a $3.7 million renovation in 2017. The historically sensitive renovation addressed all 119 guest rooms, the resort's lounge area with its "Mother-of-Pearl"-tiled swimming pool, its event lawns, and landscaping which includes almost 200 palm trees across its nine acres.In 2018 the resort celebrated its 70th anniversary. There was a "Royal Palms 70th Anniversary Party" on September 20, 2018. Tickets were $50 and guests were invited to wear 1940s resort wear.The resort was listed as one of the most romantic hotels in the world by Luxury Travel magazine in 2022.

Papago Army Heliport (FAA LID: P18) is a United States Army heliport at Papago Park Military Reservation. It is home to the 2nd Battalion, 285th Aviation Regiment. The airport is 6 miles (5.2 nmi; 9.7 km) east of the central business district of Phoenix, a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. It is 3.5 miles (3.0 nmi; 5.6 km) northeast of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA, IATA, and ICAO, this airport is only assigned P18 by the FAA.

The Shemer Art Center and Museum is an art education facility and gallery in Phoenix, Arizona. The center was founded in 1984 by Martha Shemer, who purchased a mission-style house and three acres not only to preserve the property but to donate it to the City of Phoenix to be used for art education. Budget constraints nearly closed the center in 2010, but citizens founded the Shemer Art Center and Museum Association to help manage and preserve the facility.The Shemer Art Center and Museum is one of the Phoenix Points of Pride.

Papago Park Military Reservation is a facility of the Arizona Army National Guard in Phoenix, Arizona that is home to the Papago Army Aviation Support Facility, Papago Army Heliport and the Arizona Military Museum. Formerly, it was also home to the World War II POW Camp Papago Park that is adjacent to Papago Park. The Reservation was established on April 21, 1930 by the 71st Congress.On Halloween of 2014, a crew from the 2nd Battalion, 285th Aviation Regiment dropped candy on a local neighborhood.

New Way Academy is a secular day school in Phoenix, Arizona for children with learning differences grades K-12. It is a member of the Canyon Athletic Association.

Camp Papago Park was a prisoner of war (POW) facility located in Papago Park in the eastern part of Phoenix, Arizona, United States. It consisted of five compounds, four for enlisted men and one for officers. The property now is divided between the Papago Park Military Reservation, belonging to the Arizona National Guard, a city park, residential neighborhoods and a car dealer's lot.Called Schlaraffenland—the land of milk and honey—by its mostly U-boat-crew inmates, Camp Papago Park was very different from Axis POW camps, especially with regard to how prisoners were treated: Inmates were not required to work or study, though many chose to as a means of combating boredom (though mostly the latter, as there were only 700 volunteers for labor tasks). The camp had a theater where films were screened twice a week and the camp choir could practice. Much of this was discussed, along with anything else the prisoners who wrote The Papago Rundschau, the camp's newspaper, chose to include.

Rancho Joaquina House (also known as J.E. Thompson House) is a Mission Revival/Spanish Colonial Revival mansion in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. Built in 1924–1925 by the Phoenix architectural firm Fitzhugh & Byron, the mansion is known as the earliest adobe revival property in the Phoenix area. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and on the historic register for the City of Phoenix.The property was built for J.E. Thompson, who was once a Republican candidate for the United States Senate from Arizona. He was also the younger brother of William Boyce Thompson. The 1950s television show 26 Men was filmed, in part, on the estate. The house was largely vacant in the 1950s and 1960s, during which time local children believed the property to be haunted. Sometime while J.E. Thompson was residing in the house, he is known to have shot and killed a man on the property who threatened to kidnap his son if Thompson did not pay a ransom of $35,000. He later gave the money to the family after learning that the slain man's wife was ill.In 1970, the property was renovated and became a designer show house. The estate today is surrounded by the El Coronado Estates community which was built in the late '60s and early '70s.

Arcadia High School is a public high school in Phoenix, Arizona. The school enrolls 1,680 students, who mostly come from feeder schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District.

St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, established in 1897, is one of the oldest in the city of Phoenix, Arizona. It consists of 52 acres (210,000 m2), 45 of which are developed. Before 1969, the cemetery was run by the Order of St. Francis, under the Diocese of Tucson. However, following 1969 it became an independent cemetery and is now owned and run by the Diocese of Phoenix. Its inhabitants represent pioneer families, community and business leaders, miners, those who succumbed to tuberculosis, and others who helped write the history of Phoenix and Arizona. Margaret Geare of Dublin, Ireland, who was buried on Oct. 12, 1897, is believed to be the first to be buried in the cemetery. The cemetery is located at 2033 N. 48th Street.
