The New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail Route extends along eastern and southern coast of New Jersey for nearly 300 miles (480 km). It travels along the Raritan Bay from Perth Amboy to Sandy Hook, along Jersey Shore at the Atlantic Ocean to Cape May, and along the Delaware Bay to the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The trail encompasses a variety of New Jersey state parks along with facilities under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service.

Swainton is an unincorporated community located within Middle Township in Cape May County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. U.S. Route 9 and the Garden State Parkway are major roads of Swainton. Avalon is a coastal community directly across from Swainton, connected by Avalon Boulevard. A post office was established in 1896, with Luther Swain as the first postmaster.Swainton is home to Union League National Golf Club—a 27-hole golf course offering an 18,000-square-foot (1,700 m2) clubhouse.

New Asbury Methodist Episcopal Meeting House, now known as Asbury United Methodist Church, is a historic church in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, about six miles north of Cape May Court House.It was built in 1852 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It should not be confused with the First United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House which stands immediately north of the Old Cape May County Courthouse Building.

Thomas Leaming House is located in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1706 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 1, 1997. Leaming was a member the fifth session (June–August 1776) of the Provincial Congress of New Jersey which ordered the arrest of the colony's last royal governor William Franklin, approved the Declaration of Independence and wrote New Jersey's first state constitution (1776).

Leaming's Run Gardens (30 acres) were flower gardens located at 1845 US Route 9 North, Swainton, in Middle Township, New Jersey. The gardens are now indefinitely closed. The gardens were designed and created by Jack and Emily Aprill and children, and opened to the public in 1977. Until closure, Leaming's Run Gardens claimed to be the largest annual flower garden in the United States. It consisted of the following gardens: Blue and Red Garden, Blue and White garden, Celosia Garden, Down Jersey Garden (heat-loving plants), English Cottage Garden, Hibiscus Garden, Orange Garden, Pink Garden, Red and White Garden, Reflection Garden, Serpentine Garden (red salvia), Shades of Rose Garden (roses underplanted with rose-colored flowers), Sweetheart Garden (pinks and purple), and Yellow Garden. Leaming's Garden received its name from a long stream that ran through the land. The stream was known as "Uncle Aaron Leaming's Run." Jack and Emily Aprill, as mentioned above, purchased the property in 1957 and intended to make the gardens gorgeous and have other people enjoy the beauty of nature.

Licensed to the North Cape May section of Lower Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, United States, the station serves the Cape May–Atlantic City radio market. WKOE also serves coastal Delaware and the Ocean City, Maryland, area as a secondary market.

As of the 2021–22 school year, the district, comprised of one school, had an enrollment of 531 students and 65.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.2:1.

Cape May County Technical High School, located in Middle Township, which provides vocational and technical education to students in ninth through twelfth grades from Cape May County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as part of the Cape May County Technical School District. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 2000.It has a Cape May Court House postal address but is not located in the census-designated place.As of the 2022–23 school year, the school had an enrollment of 553 students and 65.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 8.5:1. There were 129 students (23.3% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 37 (6.7% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

The Cape May County Special Services School District (CMCSSSD) is a special education public school district headquartered in Middle Township, in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States, whose schools offer educational and therapeutic services for students of elementary and high school age from across the county who have emotional of physical disabilities that cannot be addressed by their sending districts. As of the 2011–12 school year, the district's two schools had an enrollment of 267 students and 45.3 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 5.89:1.Its facility has a Cape May Court House postal address but is not within the CMCH census-designated place.

Avalon is a borough in Cape May County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is located on Seven Mile Island. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 1,243, a decrease of 91 (−6.8%) from the 2010 census count of 1,334, which in turn declined by 809 (−37.8%) from the 2,143 counted in the 2000 census. The borough's population swells to as many as 45,000 during the summer.Geographically part of the South Jersey region, the community is one of the most affluent communities along the Jersey Shore and is home to some of the most expensive real estate on the East Coast. In 2007, Forbes listed Avalon as the 65th most expensive ZIP Code in the United States. Washingtonian "named Avalon the 'chicest beach' in the mid-Atlantic, the place to see women in diamonds and designer swimwear." A small portion of Avalon is not on Seven Mile Island. The borough, and all of Cape May County, is part of the Ocean City metropolitan statistical area, and is part of the Philadelphia-Wilmington-Camden, PA-NJ-DE-MD combined statistical area, also known as the Delaware Valley or Philadelphia metropolitan area.Avalon is known as a South Jersey seashore resort and has the motto "Cooler by a Mile" since it juts out into the Atlantic Ocean about a mile farther than other barrier islands. Alternatively, the motto is because Avalon, at four miles long, is one mile longer than its neighboring town on the southern end of Seven Mile Island, Stone Harbor. It was ranked the seventh-best beach in New Jersey in the 2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.
