Sacred Heart Church (Spanish: Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón), popularly known as Iglesia del Seminario, is a Roman Catholic parish church in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was established on 9 April 1891.Held by the Society of Jesus, it is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. As the building was originally part of a seminary (nowadays a school, Colegio Seminario).

The Colegio Seminario (Spanish for 'Seminary School') is a co-educational private school in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was founded in 1880 as a school of theology for boys who aspired to the priesthood, and served as such until 1922, when it became a conventional all-boys school. Of Jesuit Catholic religious affiliation, it currently serves preschool, primary school, and secondary school. The Sacred Heart Church is in the same complex and is used for various school functions. Colegio Seminario has educated a wide range of notable alumni, including high-ranking politicians.

The Palacio Municipal de Montevideo (City Hall of Montevideo) is the seat of Montevideo government, located on 18 de Julio Avenue, in barrio Centro. It was designed by Uruguayan architect Mauricio Cravotto In the 1930s, a tender was called for the construction of a building to house the then executive and legislative bodies of Montevideo, the Board of Directors and the Representative Assembly, although with the constitutional reforms these original institutions would be modified. It had to be built on the old property of the English Cemetery, a property acquired several years ago by the state in which it was originally intended to build a building to house the Executive branch of the government and the Judiciary.

The Central Cemetery (Spanish: Cementerio central) of Barrio Sur, Montevideo, is one of the main cemeteries in Uruguay. It also ranks amongst the most popular in the country, given that most famous Uruguayan people are buried there. It is located in the southern area of the city and it was founded in 1835. The entrance, designed and built up after the Uruguayan Civil War (1839–1852), is the work of the Italian sculptor Bernardo Poncini.The cemetery was originally placed far away from the city, mainly because of the persistent risk of an epidemic. However, with the fast development and growth of Montevideo throughout the 20th century, the Central Cemetery is now surrounded by the metropolis.It became quite popular after 1858. It was one of the first cemeteries in the country at a time when burials were still carried out by the Catholic Church. Some works and statues made by José Belloni and José Luis Zorrilla de San Martín can be found in the cemetery.

Originally intended as the residence of President Máximo Santos, after whom it is named, the palace briefly served as the seat of the Uruguayan government from 1931 to 1934, including the period of Gabriel Terra’s rule.

Centro is the inner city barrio (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Its main avenue is 18 de Julio Avenue. It is delimited by La Paz Str. to the North, Florida Str. (North of 18 de julio Av.) and Andes Str. (South of 18 de Julio Av.) to the West, Canelones Str. to the South and Barrios Amorin Str. to the East. Built in the 1920s on the north side of Plaza de Cagancha, the building is best known for having hosted the renowned Sorocabana Café on its ground floor for half a century.
