Montero Palace

The Santos Palace (Spanish: Palacio Santos) is a neoclassical building located in the Centro neighborhood of Montevideo, Uruguay. Built in the 1880s, it serves as the protocol headquarters of the country’s Ministry of Foreign Relations. Originally intended as the residence of President Máximo Santos, after whom it is named, the palace briefly served as the seat of the Uruguayan government from 1931 to 1934, including the period of Gabriel Terra’s rule.

The Athenæum of Montevideo (Spanish: Ateneo de Montevideo) is a cultural institution in Montevideo, Uruguay. Founded on July 3, 1886 with the merger of the Sociedad Universitaria and the Ateneo del Uruguay, it is housed in an eclectic-historicist style building located on the Plaza de Cagancha in Centro.

Plaza de Cagancha, or Plaza Cagancha, also known as Plaza Libertad, is a square of the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo. It is located on Montevideo's main avenue, 18 de Julio Avenue, in the barrio of Centro.

Palacio Piria is a building located in Montevideo, seat of the Supreme Court of Uruguay, as well as a symbol of the Uruguayan Judiciary. It is a National Heritage Site since 1975 and an example of the Eclecticism style of architecture.

Palacio Chiarino is a French Neoclassical building located on the corner of Plaza de Cagancha and Avenue 18 de Julio in the center of Montevideo, Uruguay. Its construction began in 1922 and finished in 1928. The architects Antonio Chiarino, Bartolome Triay and Gaetano Moretti was commissioned to create the design for the Arturo Soneira family. Moretti died before the building was completed. Moretti also designed Palcio Legislativo in Montevideo, Uruguay. Palacio Chiarino was added to the National Register of Historic Places and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2011.

Avenida 18 de Julio, or 18 de Julio Avenue, is the most important avenue in Montevideo, Uruguay. It is named after the date on which the country's first Constitution was sworn in, on July 18, 1830. It starts from Plaza Independencia at the limits of the Ciudad Vieja (the Old City), crosses the barrios Centro and Cordón and ends at the Obelisk of Montevideo in Tres Cruces, where it meets Artigas Boulevard. Although not the widest or longest avenue of the city, it is considered as the most important of Montevideo, both as a commercial center and because of the many tourist attractions along its length. It is also the district of Montevideo, as well as Ciudad Vieja, where art deco architecture is best preserved, an example of which is the Rinaldi, Díaz and Salvo palaces.

Edificio London París (English: London Paris Building), also known as The Standard Life is a building located at the intersection of 18 de Julio Avenue and Río Negro in Centro, Montevideo, Uruguay. Built between 1905 and 1908 in an eclectic style, it has variously been ascribed to the design of British architect John Adams and Uruguayan Julián Masquelez. Between 1908 and 1966 it housed the department store London París.

Victoria Hall (Spanish: Teatro Victoria) is an historic building located in Centro, Montevideo, Uruguay.

Centro is the inner city barrio (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Its main avenue is 18 de Julio Avenue. It is delimited by La Paz Str. to the North, Florida Str. (North of 18 de julio Av.) and Andes Str. (South of 18 de Julio Av.) to the West, Canelones Str. to the South and Barrios Amorin Str. to the East. It used to be the main commercial venue of the city, but after the opening of the first malls, many small stores started closing down. Now, that process is being reverted and the area is coming back to life.

The Church of Saint Joseph and Saint Maximilian Kolbe (Spanish: Iglesia de San José y San Maximiliano Kolbe), popularly known as Iglesia de los Conventuales (due to its history as a former claustration convent), is a Roman Catholic parish church in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Libertador Avenue is a major avenue in Montevideo, Uruguay. It stretches north from the Legislative Palace in Aguada to Plaza Fabini in Centro, and is named after Juan Antonio Lavalleja, revolutionary figure and politician, who led the group of the Thirty-Three Orientals in the insurrection for the independence of Oriental Province.

Plaza Fabini, or Plaza Ingeniero Juan Pedro Fabini, also known as Plaza del Entrevero, is a square of the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo. It is located on Montevideo's main avenue, 18 de Julio Avenue, in the barrio of Centro and on its north side starts Libertador Avenue. Its main fountain has a bronze sculpture of José Belloni called 'El Entrevero', which acts as the monument to the unknown soldier. Under the square, there is a municipal exposition area called Subte Municipal.
