The Church of Our Lady of the Mount Carmel (Spanish: Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen), popularly known as Iglesia del Cordón, is a Roman Catholic parish church in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Sacred Heart Church (Spanish: Iglesia del Sagrado Corazón), popularly known as Iglesia del Seminario, is a Roman Catholic parish church in Montevideo, Uruguay. It was established on 9 April 1891.Held by the Society of Jesus, it is dedicated to the Sacred Heart. As the building was originally part of a seminary (nowadays a school, Colegio Seminario).

Of Jesuit Catholic religious affiliation, it currently serves preschool, primary school, and secondary school. The Sacred Heart Church is in the same complex and is used for various school functions. Colegio Seminario has educated a wide range of notable alumni, including high-ranking politicians.

The Escuela y Liceo Elbio Fernández (Spanish for 'Elbio Fernández School and Lyceum') is a co-educational private school in Montevideo, Uruguay. Founded in 1869 as the first secular and private school in Uruguay and the main inspirer of the Varelian Reform, it provides day education to boys and girls aged 2–18.It serves preschool, primary school, and secondary school, the senior high school programs, including the Bachillerato Diversificado and bilingual education by the International Baccalaureate. Centro is the inner city barrio (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay. Its main avenue is 18 de Julio Avenue. It is delimited by La Paz Str. to the North, Florida Str. (North of 18 de julio Av.) and Andes Str. (South of 18 de Julio Av.) to the West, Canelones Str. to the South and Barrios Amorin Str. to the East. It used to be the main commercial venue of the city, but after the opening of the first malls, many small stores started closing down. Now, that process is being reverted and the area is coming back to life.

Founded on July 3, 1886 with the merger of the Sociedad Universitaria and the Ateneo del Uruguay, it is housed in an eclectic-historicist style building located on the Plaza de Cagancha in Centro.
