Durham Viaduct

Rushford Court is a student hall and former hospital in Durham, England. It opened in 1853 as County Hospital, and closed as a hospital in 2010 after services were moved to Lanchester Road Hospital on the outskirts of the city. In 2018, after extensive work to demolish later additions to the hospital building and construct new accommodation blocks, Unite Students reopened the site as a privately-operated hall for Durham University students under the name Rushford Court. In 2019-20, the university used the site as a temporary home for its John Snow College, and in 2023 announced that it would be using it as a temporary home for Hild Bede College, and afterwards founding a new college on the site.

Durham bus station served the city of Durham, in County Durham, England. The bus station is managed by Durham County Council. This bus station is situated on North Road in the city centre. It is currently closed and is in the process of being rebuilt.

Durham is a railway station on the East Coast Main Line, which runs between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley. The station, situated 14 miles 3 chains (14.0 miles; 22.6 kilometres) south of Newcastle, serves the cathedral city of Durham in County Durham, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by London North Eastern Railway. It is managed and served frequently by London North Eastern Railway (as a stop on the East Coast Main Line). It is also served by CrossCountry, TransPennine Express and Northern trains. Durham is a through station with two platforms, located north of the city centre, on a hill. South of the station, the railway line approaches the station via the eleven arched Durham Viaduct; a major local landmark. After a renovation between 2006 and 2008, the original stone station building is now the ticket hall and main concourse.

Durham was a rural district in County Durham, England from 1894 to 1974. It was created under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Durham rural sanitary district and covered an area around the City of Durham, which was a municipal borough. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 and went to form part of the new City of Durham district.

Crossgate is a small area of housing that sits above North Road but below the Neville's Cross area of Durham. It is predominantly occupied by students at Durham University who favour the area due to its proximity to the university departments in the Elvet and Palace Green areas of the city.

Redhills is Grade II listed headquarters building of the Durham Miners' Association (DMA) in Durham, England. Officially called Miners' New Hall, it is known as Redhills from its location on Redhills Lane in the City of Durham. Redhills was designed by H. T. Gradon in Edwardian Baroque style and opened in 1915 to replace the former Miners' Hall building in North Road. Its debating chamber was known as the "Pitman's Parliament", which was featured in Historic England's 100 Places: Power, Protest & progress listIn March 2020 the National Lottery Heritage Fund awarded a grant for restoration and renovation work, with the aim of restoring Redhills as a centre of culture and education. In October 2021, as part of the grant agreement, Durham Miners Association transferred ownership of the site to the Redhills Charitable Incorporated Organisation.In 2022, Redhills stated publicly its intention to join a transnational serial nomination bid for UNESCO World Heritage status, coordinated by The Workers Museum in Copenhagen. As of 2023, restoration and renovation works are underway.The Redhills Charity, which operates Redhills Durham Miners Hall, is run by Nick Malyan who is the Chief Executive of the charity and was appointed in February 2022. South Street is an affluent residential street in Durham, England, on the banks of the River Wear. It overlooks the Durham Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Durham Castle. It is best known for its terraced houses, many of which are Grade II listed buildings built in the Tudor Revival architecture and architecture of the modern era. The street is situated in a conservation area and runs 0.5 km from Pimlico near Durham School to the Church of St Margaret of Antioch and Framwellgate Bridge. It is in walking distance from the Durham city centre.

The Gates Shopping Centre (formerly known as Milburngate Shopping Centre) was a shopping centre in Durham, England. It was located on the west side of the River Wear between Framwellgate Bridge and Milburngate Bridge, in the centre of Durham. In 2016 the centre closed for a £30 million redevelopment, as one of the three redevelopments in Durham City, in partnership with Durham BID worth almost £190 million. The complex being built on the former site of The Gates named the Riverwalk was opened in Summer 2019 and consists of over 20 refurbished shopping units, including Poundland, Cex (pre-existing unit) and Santander. The Riverwalk complex also has a large Odeon Cinema. Free parking for vehicles was introduced in summer 2020.

Durham School is an English independent boarding and day school in Durham, North East England and was an all-boys institution until 1985, when girls were admitted to the sixth form. The school takes pupils aged 3–18 years and became fully co-educational in 1998. A member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference, it enrolls 650 day and boarding students. Its preparatory institution, known as Bow, Durham School, enrolls a further 160 pupils. Durham and Bow's former pupils include politicians, clergy and British aristocracy. Former students are known as Old Dunelmians. Founded by the Bishop of Durham, Thomas Langley, in 1414, it received royal foundation by King Henry VIII in 1541 following the Dissolution of the Monasteries during the Protestant Reformation. It is the city's oldest institution of learning.
