Homestead is a city within Miami-Dade County in the U.S. state of Florida, between Biscayne National Park to the east and Everglades National Park to the west. Homestead is primarily a Miami suburb and a major agricultural area. It is a principal city of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida, which was home to an estimated 6,012,331 people at the 2015 census. It is located approximately 26 miles (42 km) southwest of Miami, and 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Key Largo. The population was 80,737 as of the 2020 census. The city of Homestead is located near the southern terminus of the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike where it ends at its junction with U.S. 1. Homestead is immediately north and east of Florida City, and these two cities comprise the greater Homestead–Florida City area. Some of the notable unincorporated communities in the area are Redland, Leisure City, Naranja, and Princeton.

The Homestead Town Hall, also known as the Redlands District Chamber of Commerce, is the original town hall for the Town of Homestead, built in 1917 Homestead, Florida. It is located at 41 North Krome Avenue. On November 7, 1997, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The building was originally two separate buildings that date to 1917 and 1924, which were subsequently connected. It was the first municipal building in Homestead. This property is part of the Homestead Multiple Property Submission. The Historic Homestead Town Hall Museum is located in Homestead Town Hall. The museum features photos, artifacts and films about the city's history.

The Homestead Historic Downtown District, is a U.S. Historic District (designated as such on November 19, 2007) located in Homestead, Florida, United States. It is bound by Northwest 4th Street, South Railroad Avenue, Southeast 1st Road and North Krome Drive.

Seminole Cafe and Hotel is an historic building located at 55 South Flagler Avenue in Homestead, Florida, United States. The building was originally a theater in Miami. In 1916, it moved to Homestead and converted into a hotel and cafe, changing its name to the Landmark Hotel. On July 10, 2008, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

The Neva King Cooper Educational Center is a historic school in Homestead, Florida. It is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district. The school serves students with mental disabilities. The school was built in 1914 as the Homestead Public School and designed by August Geiger. In 1934 it was renamed the Neva King Cooper School. On December 4, 1985, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The property is part of the Homestead Multiple Property Submission, a Multiple Property Submission to the National Register.

Rise Academy-South Dade Charter School opened in August 2008 and served more than 200 students in Kindergarten through Seventh Grade. It was closed in 2010 after a dispute with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Test results showed that the school had the biggest improvement in test scores in the county and twice as many sixth-graders at Rise passed the test compared to nearby Campbell Drive Middle School (a traditional public school).

The Homestead Seaboard Air Line Railway Station is a historic Seaboard Air Line Railroad depot in Homestead, Florida. The station is located at 214 Northwest 9th Terrace, approximately three-quarters of a mile west of downtown Homestead. Constructed in 1927, it is identical to the original construction of the Delray Beach Seaboard station farther north in Palm Beach County, with the sole exception of its use of the same corinthian arches used in the Naples Seaboard station and Hialeah Seaboard station, as opposed to the plain stucco arches of the Delray Beach station. It has the distinction of being both the southernmost Seaboard station and the southernmost railroad station in the United States still standing. Like many Seaboard stations in South Florida, the structure combined both a passenger station and a freight depot. However, the station at most only briefly saw passenger service in the late 1920s before the Seaboard extension between Hialeah Junction and Homestead became dedicated to freight traffic only. The structure has since been unused for freight handling, and is now privately owned. The adjacent tracks have been out of service since March 2019 and are owned by CSX Transportation, the successor to Seaboard.

The Florida Pioneer Museum is a historic site in Florida City, Florida, United States. It was founded in 1962 with the donation of Indian artifacts by Dr. Herbert S. Zim and tools by a group of civic minded women. On August 14, 1973, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The Museum's building is located in the old Homestead Florida East Coast Railroad station agent's home that was built in 1904. The house was moved to the current location in the mid-1960s to serve as a museum about the local area. The land the building sits on was donated by Henry and Jacqueline Brooker. Henry was an early settler, homesteading west of the present city of Florida City in 1907. His wife, Jacqueline, was the daughter of Bryan H. Edwards, an early mayor of Florida City. The depot building behind the museum was saved by Jack Levy and other local history buffs as the bulldozers were starting to tear it down where it was originally located on N. Flagler Ave. in Homestead. The FEC and the City of Homestead had gotten into an argument over grounds maintenance so the FEC proceeded to demolish the building. It was then moved to its present site in Florida City in 1976, on land donated by the Torcise family. The building was leveled to the platform by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and the Museum aided in the reconstruction of the building by supplying copies of the original drawings from the Florida East Coast Railway. The Depot is not part of the Museum; it is owned by the City of Florida City.

Medical Academy for Science and Technology, also referred to as MAST Academy @ Homestead, is a secondary magnet school located in Homestead, Florida. It opened for the 2010–2011 school year as a few classrooms in Campbell Middle School (renamed Center For International Education: A Cambridge Associate School in 2014), then moved into the then-closed Homestead Medical Hospital in 2011. The school's former and founding principal was Gregory Zawyer. Its current principal is Jean-Rachelle Lefranc Baril taking the position in 2022. Acceptance at MAST Academy @ Homestead is done via random selection process, along with a prerequisite of taking Algebra in 8th grade from a local middle school. The school provides classes for students who are interested in becoming a part of the medical field, and the basic category of classes are Honors classes.

Air Base K-8 Center, The Center for International Education, (formerly Air Base Elementary School) is a K-8 school located at 12829 S.W. 272nd Street in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, northeast of Homestead. Its principal is Alonza Pendergrass and it is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools System. The school's mascot is the Falcon, and its colors are black, teal, and white. Its total enrollment for the 2005-2006 school year was 451 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school has been recognized as a National Magnet School of Merit. The school opened in 1958. The following year, on September 7, 1959, Air Base Elementary and Orchard Villa Elementary became the first two desegregated schools in the system. The school originally was built to serve children of families at Homestead Air Force Base. After Hurricane Andrew damaged the air base in 1992, many Air Force personnel were relocated and student population dropped. To maintain enrollment, in the 1996-97 school year the school was converted to a magnet school offering an international program. Extensive foreign language instruction is offered, including English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Spanish for Spanish speakers, and Spanish and French as second languages. It offers a fee-based pre-Kindergarten program and has special before and after school care programs.

Florida City is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It is the southernmost municipality in the South Florida metropolitan area. Florida City is primarily a Miami suburb and a major agricultural area. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 13,085, up from 11,245 in 2010. The city lies to the south and west of, and is contiguous with, Homestead. Both cities suffered catastrophic damage in August 1992 when Hurricane Andrew struck South Florida. The city originated as a land promotion named "Detroit". There were no buildings in the area when the first thirty families arrived in 1910, and they had to stay in Homestead until their houses could be built. The name was changed to "Florida City" when the town incorporated in 1914. It has a small historic area, but much of the city is hotels and other tourist facilities. The city is at the eastern end of the only road running through the Everglades National Park, which terminates at Flamingo. Florida City is the southernmost city in the United States which is not on an island. It is also the last stop on the mainland north of the Florida Keys. The southern terminus of the Homestead Extension of Florida's Turnpike where it ends at its junction with U.S. 1 is located in Florida City. Homestead Senior High School is a public high school located at 2351 SE 12 Avenue in Homestead, Florida. It is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district. Homestead is one of two high schools serving a community that includes most of Homestead, Florida City and Leisure City. The high school offers magnet programs, including the Academy of International Business, the Academy of Aviation/Aerospace, Academy of Travel and Tourism, an Environmental Horticulture Science and Services program, and a Health Science Education program (one of only three such programs in the state that lead to a Certification in Practical Nursing).
