Wincham

Pickmere is a village and civil parish near Knutsford in the Borough of Cheshire East. It has a population of 541 (2001 Census). Landmarks in and around the village include a lake, Pick Mere, at grid reference SJ682770. Pickmere is home to one of the radio telescopes that make up the Jodrell Bank MERLIN (Multi-Element Radio Linked Interferometer Network) radio telescope array linking six observing stations that together form a powerful telescope with an effective aperture of over 217 kilometres.

Lostock Gralam railway station serves the village of Lostock Gralam in Cheshire, England. The station is on the Mid-Cheshire Line from Chester to Manchester Piccadilly, 18½ miles (30 km) east of Chester.

The Victoria Stadium was a football stadium in Wincham, Northwich in the county of Cheshire, England, and was home to Northwich Victoria.

Aston Park is a Queen Anne country house in the parish of Aston by Budworth, Cheshire, England, built in 1715. The first mention of a building on the site is in the Domesday Book from 1086. It is constructed in brick with stone dressings, and has a slate roof. The house has two storeys and an attic, and its front elevation is symmetrical with five bays. Its façade is decorated between the first floor windows with diapering in heart and diamond patterns. An extension was added to the right of the building during the 20th century. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.In 2018 the owner Laurence Daw was given a community order, together with a fine of £2,250 and costs of £65,000, for undertaking unlicensed redevelopment at the house which Cheshire East Council described as "reckless vandalism". Damage included demolishing a 19th-century servants' wing, a cheese room and an entrance for tradespeople, as well as replacing sash windows and other interior damage. The house subsequently required one of its walls to be stabilised.

Wincham Park is a football stadium in Wincham, a parish on the edge of Northwich, England. The home ground of Witton Albion, it first opened in 1989, after the club left their former Central Ground. Capacity is 4,813, with 600 covered seats on the north side of the stadium. The other three sides of the ground are all standing: the Lostock End, Wincham End, and Popular Side. It has a small club museum at the Lostock end, which is unusual in itself. Wincham Park has not changed much since its construction although cover was added at both ends of the stadium in 1990. The floodlights were replaced in 2010 after supporters walked to nearby Runcorn to raise the funds. The record attendance for a match at Wincham Park was when Northwich Victoria lost 2–0 to Shrewsbury Town on 1 January 2004 in The Football Conference. A crowd of 3,268 (2,609 away) attended the game.The stadium has had a number of names due to sponsorship deals; these include Britannia Carpets Stadium, Bargain Booze Stadium and its current name, the 'U Lock It Stadium'. Wincham Park's former name of The Bargain Booze Stadium was discussed on the popular BBC1 TV show Room 101 hosted by Frank Skinner. Local rivals Northwich Victoria and Runcorn Linnets have ground-shared at Wincham Park. 1874 Northwich have also used the stadium to stage one-off matches.Northwich Victoria and Witton Albion shared Wincham Park whilst both clubs played in the Evo-Stik League First Division North. It is currently used in the NPL West by Witton and the Midland Football League Premier Division by Northwich Victoria - who have just been moved across from the NWCFL Premier.

The A556 is a road in England which extends from the village of Delamere in Cheshire West and Chester to the Bowdon Interchange in Cheshire East, bordering Greater Manchester. The road contains a mixture of single and dual carriageway sections and forms a large part of the route between Manchester and Chester. It also acts as a major access route to Chester/North Wales to the west and to Manchester to the east for the conurbation of towns and villages around the Dane Valley centering on Winsford and Northwich. The central part, which forms the Northwich Bypass between Davenham and Lostock Gralam, suffers because of the amount of commuter traffic from this area. The part of the route between the M6 motorway Junction 19 and the M56 motorway Junction 7 is a major route into Manchester and has been recently upgraded to a four-lane dual carriageway. The road is frequently congested, carrying approximately 80,000 vehicles per day in 2020 between the M6 and M56 and 45,000 vehicles per day From the A533 Junction for Winsford and Northwich to the M6. The road has a high accident record; between 1998 and 2005, there were around 200 accidents, resulting in 5 fatalities and 39 people being seriously injured.

The Lion Salt Works is the last remaining open pan salt works in Marston, near Northwich, Cheshire, England. It closed as a work in 1986 and is now preserved as a museum.

Arley Green is a hamlet in Cheshire, England, within the parish of Aston By Budworth. The buildings originally formed Cowhouse Farm. Rowland Egerton-Warburton, the then owner of nearby Arley Hall, converted the half-timbered barn into a school in the 1830s and adapted another 18th-century building into a terrace of Tudor-style buildings. The farmhouse was converted into a parsonage. All three buildings are Grade II listed.

Holford Hall is a country house west of the village of Plumley, Cheshire, England. It consists of a fragment of a much larger timber-framed house, built in 1601 for Mary Cholmondeley on a moated site. Part of the building was demolished in the 1880s. The house is timber-framed with rendered infill. It has a stone-slate roof. The entrance front has two bays with gables and Ionic pilasters. The architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner describes this front as being "highly decorated". The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The stone bridge leading to the house across the moat is listed at Grade II, and the moated site on which the house stands is a scheduled monument.Holford Hall was purchased privately in 1988 and the hall and its estate has been renovated. In 2014 the working horse barn was transformed into a special events venue, and the Holford Mill was reconnected. Today the Holford Estate's formal gardens, event barn and mill operate as a wedding venue.

Marston is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester, in the northwest of England. The settlement is on the River Weaver, close to Anderton and the Anderton Boat Lift. The nearest major settlement to Marston is Manchester, which lies 15 miles (24 km) to the northeast. It is the site of the Lion Salt Works, now an industrial museum.
