Lecanto High School is a secondary school in Lecanto, Florida. It is a public high school in the Citrus County School District. The school covers grades 9-12, with approximately 1740 students and 103 faculty. Lecanto High School also offers extensive advanced placement courses, International Baccalaureate courses, and dual-enrollment courses in conjunction with College of Central Florida.It serves the following communities: Lecanto, Beverly Hills, sections of Black Diamond, Citrus Hills, Citrus Springs, Hernando, Homosassa Springs, Pine Ridge, and Sugarmill Woods.

The Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies, Inc., or FAMSI, is a website used for research in pre-Columbian studies and ancient Mesoamerican cultures. FAMSI was formerly an American not-for-profit grant-making research foundation, established 1993 and based in Crystal River, Florida. It provided research grants and resources to scholars focussing on ancient Mesoamerican cultures, including the Olmec, Maya, Aztec, and others. Grants were available for projects in archaeology, art history, linguistics, ethnography, epigraphy, sociology, and ethnohistory. The non-profit dissolved in 2012, but its research website has remained active under the administration of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art since 2012.

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is located near Homosassa Springs, Florida, in the United States. The park is one of the notable locations in the state to view manatees. Visitors can get close to the animals on a floating observatory. Black bears, bobcats, white-tailed deer, American alligators, and river otters can also been seen in the park. The park is also home to the hippopotamus Lu, famously known for his performances in many movies for the past 40 years. The park is officially named Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in honor of Elmyra Felburn Schiller (1943 – 2009), a benefactor of the Florida state park system.

Citrus Hills is a census-designated place (CDP) in Citrus County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,470 at the 2010 census, up from 4,029 in 2000. The CDP takes its name from The Villages of Citrus Hills, a master-planned community first developed by Gerald Nash and Sam Tamposi in the 1970s. (Although sharing a similar name with The Villages, the well-known giant Central Florida retirement community, the two developments are not related.)
