South Gare is an area of reclaimed land and breakwater on the southern side of the mouth of the River Tees in Redcar and Cleveland, England. It is accessed by taking the South Gare Road (private road) from Fisherman's Crossing at the western end of Tod Point Road in Warrenby. Before the building of South Gare, permanent dry land stopped at Tod Point, at the western end of Warrenby, and there was only Coatham Sands and the mudflats of Bran Sands. The creation of South Gare extends this by a further 2.5 miles (4.0 km). The building of South Gare offers a safe harbour in stormy weather to ships off the coast and allowed for the dredging of the River Tees entrance. South Gare itself was a settlement but the houses there were demolished many years ago.

Teesmouth Lifeboat Station was a Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeboat station, situated on the mouth of the River Tees, South Gare, North Yorkshire, England. The lifeboat station had been operating at Teesmouth for 177 years when it was closed by the RNLI in 2006. The withdrawal of the lifeboat capability from Teesmouth was subject to much criticism from the local council and the volunteers who crewed the boat, but the RNLI stated that there was an over-provision of lifeboat cover on the north-east coast. The former lifeboat house was demolished in 2010, four years after the station had closed.

The River Tees (), in England, rises on the eastern slope of Cross Fell in the North Pennines and flows eastwards for 85 miles (137 km) to reach the North Sea in the North East of England. The modern day history of the river has been tied with the industries on Teesside in its lower reaches, where it has provided the means of import and export of goods to and from the North East England. The need for water further downstream also meant that reservoirs were built in the extreme upper reaches, such as Cow Green.

Redcar Bulk Terminal (RBT), also known as Redcar Ore Terminal, is a privately run dock at the mouth of the Tees Estuary in North Yorkshire, England. The port is used for the transhipment of coal and coke (both inward and outward flows) and for many years was the import dock for iron ore destined for Redcar Steelworks under British Steel Corporation, British Steel plc, Corus, Tata Steel Europe and Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI UK). The port is not part of the Teesport estate run by PD Ports but is instead owned by SSI UK (in liquidation). It is one of only four UK ports that are capable of handling Capesize vessels.

Warrenby Halt was a railway station opened in 1920 having been built to serve the village of Warrenby in Redcar and Cleveland, England and the nearby Dorman Long works. It consisted of wooden platforms and brick-built shelters and was gas-lit.In 1978 the railway was diverted to allow for the building of the Redcar steelworks, leaving Warrenby bypassed. A new station, Redcar British Steel, opened on the deviation line to take its place. (The replacement station was officially the quietest station on the entire British rail network with only 40 passengers in 2017–18.) One of Warrenby Halt's platforms survives at Newton Dale Halt on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Redcar British Steel (also known as British Steel Redcar) is a mothballed railway station on the Tees Valley Line, which runs between Bishop Auckland and Saltburn via Darlington. The station, situated 5+3⁄4 miles (9 km) east of Middlesbrough, served the Teesside Steelworks, Redcar and Cleveland in North Yorkshire, England. At the time of the station's closure, it was owned by Network Rail and managed by Arriva Rail North.

SSSIs are designated by Natural England, formally English Nature, which uses the 1974–1996 county system. This means there is no grouping of SSSIs by Redcar and Cleveland unitary authority, or North Yorkshire which is the relevant ceremonial county. As such South Gare & Coatham Sands is one of 18 SSSIs in the Cleveland area of search.

Tees Bay is a bay in County Durham, England, between Hartlepool and Redcar, where the River Tees flows into the North Sea.

Seaton Dunes and Common (grid reference NZ535285) is a 312.1 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Hartlepool, County Durham, England notified in 1966. Part of it is a Local Nature Reserve.SSSIs are designated by Natural England, formally English Nature, which uses the 1974–1996 county system. This means there is no grouping of SSSIs by Hartlepool unitary authority, or County Durham which is the relevant ceremonial county . As such Seaton Dunes and Common is one of 18 SSSIs in the Cleveland area of search.

The Teesdale Way is a long-distance walk between the Cumbrian Pennines and the North Sea coast of North Yorkshire in England. The walk is 100 miles (160 km) in length; it links in with other long-distance walks such as the Pennine Way and the E2 European Walk between Harwich and Stranraer.

Warrenby is a depopulated area of Redcar in the borough of Redcar and Cleveland, ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It is a light industrial area, no longer residential. On the edge of Coatham Marsh, the area was originally called Warrenstown when it was founded in 1873 to provide housing for workers at the nearby ironworks of Downey & Co and Walker Maynard. In the Warrenby Disaster of 1895, eleven men, many from the village of Warrenby were killed in a massive boiler explosion at the works.Although it was on the route of the Middlesbrough & Redcar Railway, the area did not have a station until 1916 when Warrenby Halt was opened mainly to serve the nearby Dorman Long works. The halt closed in 1978 when the railway was realigned to make way for the new Redcar steel plant.

Lazenby railway station served the village of Lazenby, North Yorkshire, England, from 1846 to 1864 on the Middlesbrough and Redcar Railway.
