Thapathali Durbar (Nepali: थापाथली दरवार) was a palace complex in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Thapathali means abode of the Thapas. It was initially built by Nain Singh Thapa of the Thapa dynasty but was later occupied by Jung Bahadur Rana, as prime minister, the executive head of Nepal. The palace complex, located north of the Bagmati river, encompasses an impressive and vast array of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. Many palaces and buildings were built throughout late 1840s to 1900, initially by Nain Singh Thapa, a member of the aristocratic Thapa family and brother of Bhimsen Thapa, and later was acquired by Nain Singh Thapa's grandson Jung Bahadur Rana. Further additions were made by successive Ranas up to the 19th century.

The Dasharath Stadium Disaster occurred on 12 March 1988 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal during a football match between the Janakpur Cigarette Factory and Bangladeshi side Muktijoddha Sangsad KC for the 1988 Tribhuvan Challenge Shield. 93 people were killed and 100 more were injured when attempting to flee from a hailstorm inside the hypethral national Dasarath Rangasala Stadium. The Dasharath Stadium disaster is the 9th biggest stadium disaster until 2006 (in terms of human loss, 93 spectators died) and the worst stadium disaster in Nepal.

Dasharath Rangasala (Nepali: दशरथ रंगशाला; transl. Dasharath Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu. It is named after Dasharath Chand, one of the four great martyrs of Nepal. The stadium is used mostly for football matches and cultural programmes. It has floodlights installed, to facilitate matches and events in the evenings. Most of Nepal's national and international tournaments are held in this stadium. Nepal's primary football division, Martyr's Memorial League, is also held on this ground every year. The stadium has also been the only host of the inaugural 2021 Nepal Super League season.

Paropakar Maternity and Women's Hospital, also known as Prasuti Griha (Nepali: प्रसूति गृह), is the first maternity hospital of Nepal. It is located on Maternity Hospital Road, in Thapathali, Kathmandu, Nepal. The hospital was established on 17 August 1959 and has 415 beds. About 15,000 women deliver their babies in this hospital annually.

Central Jail (Nepali: केन्द्रिय कारागार, Kendriya Karagar) is the largest prison facility of Nepal. It was established in 1971 BS (1914-1915). It is located near Newroad of central Kathmandu. The jail is also called Bhadragol jail (भद्रगोल कारागार).To the east of the jail lies office of the drinking water corporation, Bhotebahal in the west, office of Kathmandu metropolitan in the north. This jail occupies an area of 42 ropanies (about 2.2 hectare). Inside the compound lies Bhadra Jail, Women Jail and Central Jail. There are nine blocks in the central jail, three blocks in Bhadra jail and three in the women jail. In 2070 BS (2013-2014), a hospital was also set up inside the jail for inmates. There is a small textile factory with 74 machines inside the jail.The jail which has capacity for 1250 inmates but it hosts 2,750 prisoners including 350 foreign prisoners. There are plans to expand the jail by shifting to Nuwakot.

The British College (also known as TBC) is an independent institution located in Trade Tower Business Center, Thapathali, Kathmandu. It offers British and international qualifications. The British College offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes which are awarded by its two partner UK universities: the University of the West of England (UWE) and Leeds Beckett University (LBU).

Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, named after Shukraraj Shastri, commonly known as Teku Hospital, is a public hospital in Teku, Kathmandu. It is the only hospital in Nepal especially designated for the treatment of tropical and infectious diseases. The hospital was established in 1933. It has a 100-bed inpatient service. It has three ICU beds and six cabin beds. It is a national referral hospital which takes in patients referred from all over the country. It also provides training to medical students. Dr. Basudev Pandey is the current director of the hospital.

The Maitighar Mandala (Nepali: माइतीघर मण्डला) is a symbolic monument located in the heart of Kathmandu, Nepal. It is an island at the intersection of roads from Thapathali, New Baneshwor, Bhadrakali and at the southeast corner of Singhadurbar, the administrative centre of Nepal. It forms an important landmark in the beautification of Kathmandu city and a master piece of art depicting Buddhist relics. It also marks the initiation mark stone of one of the major highways of Nepal, Araniko Highway, that links Nepal with China.

St. Xavier's College, Maitighar is a private, Jesuit, co-educational secondary and tertiary educational institution run by the Nepal Region of the Society of Jesus in Kathmandu, Nepal. It was founded by the Jesuits in 1988 AD. Since its very inception the college has been offering quality education and has contributed to the development of the nation through the production of highly qualified human resources. St. Xavier's College is managed by the Nepal Jesuit Society. Jesuits began their educational work in Nepal in 1951 with the opening of St. Xavier's School in Godavari, followed by St. Xavier's School, Jawalakhel and St. Xavier's School, Deonia. Other schools run by Nepal Jesuit Society are Moran Memorial School, Maheshpur and St. Xavier's, Sadakbari. Currently, St Xavier's College offers 13 different programs. It runs A-level Non-Science and Science under Cambridge Assessment International Education and Ten Plus Two (10+2) program in Science under the affiliation of National Examination Board (NEB). In Bachelor level with affiliation from Tribhuvan University, St Xavier's College offers B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Sc. CSIT, Bachelor of Information Management (BIM), Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Social Work and English) and Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) program. It also runs the Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW) program with affiliation from Kathmandu University. It also offers Masters programs in Microbiology (M.Sc. Microbiology), Physics (M.Sc. Physics) and Masters in Business Studies (MBS) under Tribhuvan University.

The Nepal Health Research Council is an autonomous body responsible for promoting and coordinating health research in Nepal working under the Ministry of Health and Population. It was established in 1991 under the Nepal Health Research Council Act, the council works to improve Nepal's health status through scientific research while upholding ethical standards. It was originally formed as the Nepal Health Research Committee under the Ministry of Health in 1982, the council now collaborates with government agencies, non-government organizations, and the private sector to provide guidance on health research and policy matters. It identifies and prioritizes national health issues for research, ensuring technical and ethical standards are maintained. The council also makes guidelines for doctors and hospitals. Additionally, it serves as the country's regulatory body for the ethical review of research proposals from various institutions and authorities. It publishes the Journal of Nepal Health Research Council.

Sahid Gate or Shahid Gate (lit. Martyr's Gate) is a monument in Kathmandu, Nepal. The monument was inaugurated on 13 April 1961. As of 2016, there are five statues in the gate. Four men, namely Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Gangalal Shrestha, Dashrath Chand, and Shukraraj Shastri, who are considered martyrs since they stood against the 104-year-old Rana Regime, have their statues above their arms established here. On top of all is a statue of former King Tribhuvan, who, in B.S. 2007 (A.D. 1950) cooperated with people to get democracy in the country. The gate was designed by Shankar Nath Rimal. King Mahendra inaugurated the monument and named it Nepal Smarak. However, people started calling it Shahid gate, a name by which it is presently called.In 2012 a Nepali cabinet meeting decided to move the statue of Tribhuvan from the Gate and to the Narayanhiti Museum and leave the statues of the martyrs only.

Bhadrakali Temple (Nepali:भद्रकाली मन्दिर) (literal: "Decent Kali") is a Hindu temple dedicated to Devi Bhadrakali. It is located in Kathmandu, Nepal, next to Tundikhel.It is located near the Sahid Gate. The temple is at the eastern side of Tundikhel. This temple is also known as Shree Lumadhi Bhadrakali. It is one of the most renowned “Shaktipith” of Nepal. A form of the Goddess Kali, Bhadrakali in Sanskrit means “blessed, auspicious, beautiful and prosperous” and she is also known as “Gentle Kali”. Another name for the goddess is Lazzapith.
